  1. Yup - as above really!! I personally would not remove the a/c as it's part of the whole "GT car experience" ie speed and comfort! I do remember someone saying that even with the a/c on, if you boot it to full power, it switches off momentarily so that the engine can produce full power. It sounds clever - and I'm sure someone more in the know (Yowser?) will confirm either way.... Richard:chef:
  2. Welcome to the club mate! Richard:thumbup1:
  3. Welcome to the club! Richard:chef:
  4. Happy birthday Steve - have a great day! Richard:cowboy:
  5. Many happy returns Stu - I hope you have a great day matey!! Richard:cool2:
  6. Just a thought - but I'd have guessed the 99-spec steering wheel would have an air-bag.... ....so if you have an older ZX it probably would not fit. I'd say that a professional trimmer would be able to refurb one for you in the same style - but most probably at a high price!! Richard:sorcerer:
  7. Hi Vijay, To address a few issues referred to above - I take it the house is owned (or mortgaged) by you. In which case you cannot rent it as a limited company unless the limited company aquires ownership! Assuming it's yours, then you can indeed rent it as a business. VAT will not be applicable as domestic rent is exempt from VAT regardless of how much you receive in gross income. You are liable for income tax (at whatever rate you as an individual should pay) on the net income. Net income is rent received; less mortgage interest, allowable repairs and legitimate expenditure you will incur in the course of letting the property (eg buildings insurance, maintenance/renewals any rates you pay for the tenant etc etc); plus professional fees (agents and accountants etc). If you let it furnished, then you are also allowed to claim a "wear and tear" allowance (IIRC it's 10% of gross rent less rates). Also remember, if you let the property as a business, then you may well be liable to capital gains tax on any profit when you sell the house - since it will no longer be your main residence. If you need any further advice mate - feel free to PM me. I used to be the tax manager in an accountancy practice. I'm a bit rusty on tax laws since leaving the profession, but I still remember a fair bit! Richard:cool3:
  8. Also don't forget that replacing calipers and lines will require the whole system to be bled - so remember that the ABS unit in the boot needs bleeding as well! And factor in the cost of replacement fluid! Richard:cool2:
  9. Sorry everyone, but "rules is rules" and it's the same for everyone! The original for sale thread was simply closed when it could just as easily have been deleted. If you want to sell then you must be a subbed member - and that includes links to your "for sale" ads as well. I fully realize that the ad was placed when Manta was a subbed member, and was left to run for some time after his sub expired. But we apply the same rules to everyone - as said before, even a founder member was prevented from selling because his sub had expired. I'm closing this thread now - please PM or e-mail me if anyone has anything to say about it. Thanks. Richard:winkiss:
  10. Problem fixed - I think it was because I posted in "committee announcements" which is for mods and committee only! It's now in the "general" section of the subbed forums! Please can everyone now direct their comments in there? I'll close this thread to avoid confusion..... Leo mate, I've copied your post into the new thread - all you have to do now is vote! Sorry all.... Richard:whistling:
  11. Hi Leo, thanks for your input mate - I'm not sure why you couldn't post in the other thread though!! You're a fully subbed member, so you should be able to? I'll ask someone to take a look at that for you..... ....I had to post in the "subbed" section only as only subbed members are eligible to vote on club issues:wink: If anyone else has problems posting on the original thread, or voting, please let me know. Richard:cool2:
  12. Hi Alex, I seem to have missed this thread the first time around, as I didn't get online last weekend..... Very well said I reckon - and some wise words from Andy too! Onwards and upwards indeed.... Richard:yes:
  13. Exactly mate! I wouldn't worry who is on the same site either; just carry on as you have been and don't let her presence bother you!! And good luck mate! Richard:cool2:
  14. Many happy returns buddy!! Richard:cool3:
  15. Happy birthday mate! Richard:thumbup:
  16. Yes - please do tell mate. If there's something I can sort for you - or you don't want to discuss it on the open forums please e-mail me on richardsmith@300zx.co.uk I don't want anyone feeling they are not welcome on here, for any reasons. Richard
  17. I haven't measured, but couldn't you disable the inner brake lights; then the converted reverse lights would be around 10cm from the brakelights? Plus I don't reckon many MOT testers would measure anyway, as long as ther all worked and could easily be distinguished..... Plenty of cars have the rear fog built into the rear light cluster now and TBH the fogs can be pretty damn close to the brake lights!! Attached photo for comparison - although mine is a UK spec ZX with the fogs in the bumper...:surrender: Richard:thumbup1:
  18. Hi mate - welcome to the club!! Richard:cool3:

Either 26 November or.....?? there's only one date mate!! As I cannot do the 26th sadly; I'm on holiday for a few days:whistling: Never mind, I'll be at Zedworld the following week..... Richard:sad: Edit - sorry mate, just seen your edit of the first post..... I'll be there next time maybe!
  20. Great concept car - and I agree with the fact that hybrid/electric cars will be the future.... .....but sadly I still don't like the idea. Sure Zedzilla is 100% right in that at least this way we get to keep the notion of sports cars going. But being a petrol head it is still sad to see that we'll all have to go "prius" in the future as fossil fuels start to run out. Personally I don't buy into the whole modern green concept - I am a "climate change denier" (just my own opinion BTW; I don't wish to instigate debate) and a dinosaur in the purest sense. But the rest of the world has, so in time I will have no choice but to comply or become extinct!! Richard:cool3:
  21. A belated Happy Birthday Chris.... ....hope you had a good day mate!! Richard:rockon:
  22. Very nice Graham!! Richard:thumbup:

The Red Lyon is indeed a good choice of venue Craig! I'll be up for that - dependent on the dates of course; I have a lot on for weekends near Christmas... Richard:cool3:
  24. We generally don't get too many. Sure there are neighbourhood children but they are all pretty young. In fact most of the parents go out with them - and have the politeness to ask me if it's OK to knock; knowing that Julia and I do not have kids.... ......And whilst I am always happy to join in (hell the little guys do make the effort), tonight Julia and I went out to the pub. So no callers here.... I did tell their parents over the weekend - and will give the kids some sweets when I see them tomorrow! Richard:thumbup1:
  25. Hi Jeremy, I also understand too mate; but I'm pleased you're sticking around on the forum. I wish you all the best with your treatment and I too hope you're feeling OK. Do let us know how you are doing, All the best buddy, Richard:cool3:
