  1. I agree mate!! I loved my second Mk3 Soop - it was a J-spec GT special edition 3.0 turbo with the targa roof and digital dash; In black it looked just like KITT....... When I came to replace it, I naturally looked at the Mk4 (which, whilst a good car, is fugly); and the Porsche 928 s4 (which was also dead good - in fact I could not find much wrong with that at all). And then I tried a 300zx...... ....the rest is history!! Richard:biggrin:
  2. Tell them to move out of the way, they are spoiling the view of that nice white car in the background...... ......seriously though mate; it's scary how fast kids grow up nowadays. I might still have been playing with my train set at that age - and like Stella, enjoying the odd drink LOL - but I had no interest in 13 year old girls. Actually I liked the older woman when I was 13 and was more interested if they were at least 16.... but that's another story LOL!!! We all like to look back on our own youth through rose tinted glasses and imagine that times were more innocent (and all the better for it) but was it really? I think it was just different, as life was perhaps a bit simpler and we had less peer pressure a few years ago. And no ideals to conform to, or the current daft obsession with celebrities and the god-awful desire to emulate them in every way.... I hope your daughter has a good time at the party mate - I'm sure she will be just fine because above all, she has a dad who cares...... Richard:thumbup1:
  3. Hi Nick, Thanks for the enquiry mate - if you follow this link..... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?82551-Misc-club-payment-methods all will become clear!! Any problems then please let me or another committee member know and we'll help you along as necessary! Richard:thumbup1:
  4. Yup - seconded mate; glad to have you back on board!! Richard:thumbup1:
  5. Cool - cheers Mark..... .....and sorry to hijack your thread Ryan....:blushing: Richard:thumbup1:
  6. Cheers Mark - I'm not worried about cost; just simplicity. I don't use my ZX much and, as said, I'm no ICE addict so I just want an easy drop in upgrade that requires no extra work other than out with the old and in with the new!! I was impressed with the simple JBL 6x4s that I put in the rear so JBL fronts will be fine for me - and 6.5s drop straight in with no mods I take it...? Richard:thumbup1:
  7. Oh yes - for sure matey!! But here's a nice looking Mk3 for sale...... http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201229479064677/sort/default/usedcars/model/supra/make/toyota/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/1501/postcode/hp198hl/page/1/quicksearch/true?logcode=p Richard:biggrin:
  8. Nice one Ryan....!! It's surprising what a difference a simple upgrade makes isn't it.....? .....I'm no ICE freak, I just replaced my rear speakers with a set of OEM-size JBLs and it sounds way better. I do need to upgrade the fronts now - what do you recommend for simple drop-in replacements Mark? Richard:thumbup1:
  9. I know it's not the blackest black you'll ever see; not is it pure black since there is a silver and gold fleck within it..... ....but Mercedes Obsidian black is my favourite black. My old Merc was that colour - and Phil P's 99-spec converted ZX is Obsidian black and it looks awesome!! And typically I see you have (as I type) 14 replied and yet only 4 votes.....!! Come on people, it's a poll so tick the box and help Dave decide!!! Richard:biggrin:
  10. That's what I got as well - still pretty good though..... .....but I see they are being a bit PC in the "real" part of the ad; I noticed the plane had a female pilot and a male flight attendant. Not that it's wrong - but let's be honest, it's hardly the norm is it? Richard:biggrin:
  11. I'd forgotten about that mate!!
  12. I didn't bother applying TBH; but a couple of guys form work managed to get tickets. If I had though, I'd have had no trouble parking near the venue. I could have left the car on my parents' drive and walked the mile or so..... Richard:yinyang:
  13. Nooooo......:laugh::shifty:
  14. Hey Dave, my opinion mate, is that for a whole car, keep to the gloss finish!! I'm a dinosuar and still think the good old fashioned glossy bodywork is best..... Richard:thumbup1:
  15. I doubt it will do any real harm mate - the undertray helps keep water etc from splashing up and soaking the electrics; and might offer a bit of protection from debris flying up and damaging the sump, hoses and filters etc..... .....but I suspect many cars have no undertray as they have either gotten damaged or the last garage to service the car forgot to put it back.... I think it was JeffTT who joked about there being a big pile of undertrays in garages everywhere.... Richard:biggrin:
  16. Welcome to the club Alfie!! And at £500 that is a contender for bargain of the century mate!!! Richard:thumbup1:
  17. Eeek, that doesn't look good if it was a bus stop.... .....I hope there were no fatalities and those injured have a swift recovery. Richard
  18. Happy birthday fella!! Richard:thumbup1:
  19. Hi Colin, Thank you for the kind words my friend - all I can say is that we can only do our best....!! I am pleased to hear your feedback and I hope that we can continue to meet and exceed our members' expectaions....!! You have purchased a damn fine ZX there I reckon and I look forward to hopefully seeing it sometime at a meet. It's not long now to our biggest meet of the year - JAE as per my sig banner - so if you're available, why not pop along! Richard:thumbup1:
  20. Yes matey - it's nicely greased and goes up and down regularly!! Richard:biggrin:
  21. I had 2 before my first zx..... .....and at that time rust wasn't such a problem; apart from the small side skirt area on the lower front wings behind the wheel/in front of the doors. Water would get under the skirt, corrode the metal and force the skirt away from the wing. You already know about the HG issue - basically the head bolts were never torqued dowm properly from the factory. And even when Toyota replaced the HG, they would still only tighten the head bolts to factory settings - so it would fail again. Soon!! Oh and the rocker cover gaskets would leak, forming a pond of oil in the spark-plug recesses between the cam shaft banks. Leather interiors were of poor quality and generally looked rough after a few thousand miles too..... Apart from that they were good in their day but way past their best now. Unless you can find a good, cared for club members' car - I'd still buy a good one myself as I did enjoy ownng mine. Although the 300zx completely outclassed it in every way; so much so that Toyota went back to the drawing board for 2 years to re-design the Mk4 Supra as they realized the Z32 was so good.... Richard:biggrin:
  22. Many happy returns Mark - have a great day mate!! Richard:thumbup1:
  23. Hell I know all that Mikey - but having bought an aerial from you earlier this year I have to agree that you too were good to deal with mate. Thank you Mikey!! And on the subject of dealings among each other as individuals, might I please refer you to my comments here. It was meant as a reminder to keep things in perspective.......:winkiss: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?163223-Suggestion-for-Members-trading&p=1662430&viewfull=1#post1662430 So here's to the good guys; which if we're honest is pretty much all of the membership!! Richard:thumbup1:
  24. I agree with Gaz - thanks all and nuff said!! Richard:thumbup1:
