at what point does a zed become a colander?
Very true...... .....and I hope it works out for you fella. It does go to show that rust effects J-spec and UK spec cars indiscriminately; after years on the UK's roads. Keep your cars undersealed guys....!! Richard:thumbup1:

my new engine bay
I agree - whilst I like the shiney shiney chromed or polished plenums, the matt black looks more modern IMO. Different and classy - I love it mate!! Richard:thumbup1:

No more Tax Discs?
Agreed - no talk about actually axing the tax payment itself I see...... .....but it is true; there's no point in having the disc now that everything is digitalised. Insurance and taxed status can be checked by roadside recognotion cameras and the MID - so why bother with the paper proof? Richbrook might go out of business though, as there'll be no need for tax disc holders....... Richard:ninja:

Green Eyed Monster
Heh heh..... .....I sure do have one myself - a facelifted 2009 model which has 305bhp. And whilst I dearly love my ZX, unless yours is modified he won't be disappointed in a shoot out mate! The autos are faster than the manuals; the 7g-tronic gearbox is much more advanced than autos of old!! The auto SLK350 will do 0-62 in 5.4 with ease (60 is something like 5.2); so very similar to a stock manual ZX (even a tad faster perhaps)...... And 100mph takes no time at all. It's a fantastic engine TBH; both the engine/'box are extremely, instantly responsive; it pulls as strong as a train to 100 and beyond and I've had no bother outrunning a UK spec Supra Mk4 TT.... But when it's so close on paper, it comes down to the ability (and balls) of the driver!! .......The ZX does have the edge over 100 though; and even with the AMG sport suspension pack I have on the Merc, the ZX has the more planted feel at very high speeds (especially now I have my Meister Rs fitted)! What one should appreciate though, is that just how great a car the 300zx is when driving the two back to back. The fact that a Nissan designed in the late 1980s can still hold its own dynamically, and in all other respects, with one of Germany's finest modern machines is a testament to how good the Z32 is!! What do I prefer to drive - what do you think? Pabs is right; the 300zx is a classic head-turner and I love the whole "feel-good" factor about driving it - that and the admiring glances and comments I get when I'm out in the ZX:laugh: Richard:thumbup1:

Rear shunt
He has broken the law there mate - after an RTC you have to exchange names and addresses; the road traffic act says you must pass such information onto any party with a legitimate right to have it. You do not have to provide your insurance details; although it can look bad for you if you refuse any reasonable request. As Vijay says, you have his reg number so your insurers can trace him through the MID. And he drove into you remember, so it is most likely all insurance companies involved will find in your favour - make sure you mention the unofficial agreement you had wherein he agreed to cover the damage too. And don't worry about not reporting it to the police. Whilst the law says accidents must be reported within 24 hours, you have exchanged (albeit incomplete) details with each other and no-one was injured. Truth is, had you called the police at the time, because no-one was injured and you could both drive away safely afterwards; they would not have been interested and most certainly would not have bothered to attend the scene. In Jap Slapper's mate's case, he drove away from the scene remember - that is the crime there...... Richard

Good news Draxan..... .....thread closed now I think! Richard:thumbup1:

Insurance agreed valuation.....
Thanks guys - some good points all round there!! As Slick Pete says, it does sound about right; but as Vijay (and others) said, would I easily be able to find a tidy rust free UK spec 300zx for that price if the worst happened? Richard:yinyang:

Big thanks to Yewcheck!!
Nor me - but I didn't want to say so in public; LOL..... .....But Dave has sure generated some great club spirit by including us all in his order - so I've added some rep in his original thread; he deserves it!! Richard:thumbup1:

Insurance agreed valuation.....
Cheers Andy, initially I was not unhappy with their assessment - as I'd thought something like £4500 based upon what some Zs are up for sale at (of course what they actually go for is a different matter)! Perhaps I should seek another opinion before just accepting the policy on that basis.... Richard

Insurance agreed valuation.....
I thought I'd share this with you to gauge your thoughts..... I have just switched insurance companies from Lynbrooks to Lancaster - who provided me with the same Equity Red Star policy for over £30 less, including an agreed valuation. So after sending them a few pictures of the car, Lancasters came up with an agreed value of £4,250. What do you think? It's a tidy 1994 L-reg UK spec auto; no rust, 86k miles (with old MOTs etc), mild upgrades like wheels, Meister Rs, air filter, exhaust and the Stillen front lip. Richard:clover:
