Important Zedworld announcement
It is indeed a sad day Jeff - sad for all Zedders that the Z32 master has hung up his cape..... .....But you have certainly earned your retirement Jeff; so on a personal note I thank you for all your help with my ZX(s) over the years. And from the club's point of view, on behalf of the committee, moderators and membership, a very, very big thanks for your contribution to all 300zx related matters over the last 14 years!! I know I'm not alone when I say you'll be a tough act to follow; but I also know that you will have left Zedworld in safe hands. I wish the new owners all the best - and congratulate you on your retirement to the sunshine matey. I'll miss you - and I'm as jealous as hell - but congratulations!! All the best Jeff, Lynda, Jamie, Danielle; and to everyone else in the Zedworld family who made it what it is today. Thanks and good luck for the future!! Richard:thumbup1:

Armour All Shield review....
Heh heh, well Bri, I learned from the master when I became a mod and then committee..... It's ****ing fine mate...... ....Yup - people need to know before wasting their hard earned cash mate!! I'm an Autoglym and Meguairs person myself too..... Although to be honest I do highly rate Turtle Wax Extra Gloss Sealant as well. It's bloody brilliant IMO and really seals in the shine and lasts for months. Personally, a good polish with Autoglym SRP, followed by a Meg's Ultimate Liguid Wax - and a then give it a coat of the Turtle Wax sealer stuff; and the shine, finish and water beading lasts for ages!! I know that there are sealants out there which are probably way better than the TW stuff - but considering it costs under £10 a bottle, it's an all round bargain!! Richard:thumbup1:

Well thats an End to that & Thank you
Sorry to hear you have closed your model shop Mark; hell it's a shame many such places have closed since I was a kid. Apart from the Scalextric, I was always a Hornby Railways fan and thoroughly enjoyed building my layout back in the day.... But good luck in whatever you embark upon next mate..... Richard:wink:

Permanent ban system review and update....
Probably not Dave - in fact not even I know of anyone reapplying at present!! But seriously though, any previously banned member is eligible to ask for their ban to be reconsidered; and until it happens I really cannot say anything more. I guess the first everyone will know is when someone announces "I'm back!" I guess we have to see how things pan out mate..... Hi Tony, that is another subject; as you are not a banned member....... ........As my esteemed colleague has pointed out! Richard:wink:

Armour All Shield review....
Has anyone tried the Armour All Shield "better than a wax" yet...? If not, allow me to save you the trouble. It's fooking shite!! Despite the good reviews in Auto Express, I am far from impressed - I used it on the Merc yesterday and it certainly started well, so I tried it on Julia's Rav this morning.... ....And it was very dissapointing. So much for it needing no buffing - on a black car, it just smeared and left unsightly marks; and the sun was not properly out and hot first thing today!! And to make matters worse, when I looked the the Merc after I had finished the Rav today, the paintwork felt "tacky" and I could feel the dust had stuck to its surface. So a good going over with detailing spray - and then an application of some proper wax/sealant, it was better. So to be sure, I did the same to the Rav. And sensibly decided not to use it on my ZX this afternoon!! It's so disappointing; and the Shield for wheels is bloody brilliant! My SLK produces vast quantities of brake dust, which really spoils the AMG wheems after a few days. But when treated with Armour All wheel shield, the wheels stay clean for 2-3 weeks if I don't get the chance to wash the car! So to conclude, I don't normally bother; but tomorrow I'm sending the stuff back to Armour All with a stinking letter telling them how disappointed I am with their product (they offer a refund is you're not satisfied). And I advise you not to bother using it. Better than a wax - I think not!! Stick to a proper wax IMO... Richard:yinyang:

Permanent ban system review and update....
Well put Gary - and we also have a suggestions section so if anyone has an idea on how the club can be improved for the benefit of the membership, please feel free to let us know! We're always open to new suggestions..... Maybe Si is, maybe he isn't lurking around - but he smart money says that he probably still is on the odd occasion; LOL...:shifty: As for your comment about the need for changes to policies and rules, yes; it might be a topic for another conversation - which is why I referred to the club suggestions section. And if you don't wish to go public, please feel free to PM me or another committee member with your ideas!! We all have our opinions, some good and some not so good - and some are just plain stupid; but nonetheless we are all entitled to them!! Richard:wink:

road tax on 300zx twin turbo
You're welcome mate - and it is cheap considering what some cars cost to tax nowadays! Anything pre 2001 is rated on engine size - something like under 1400cc and over 1400cc... My SLK and Julia's Rav both cost £280; luckily the Merc, whilst a 3500cc, is the later model with much lower emissions. The earlier one is over £400 to tax - rip off Britain... Richard:thumbup1:

Just developed an oil leak.....
Heh heh - I did think that Mike!! One of Julia's friends has just been round as they are going out to a flower show this afternoon. When she saw both the cars on the drive, she asked which one I liked best - and you know I just had to say "The Z of course!!"

whats the best type of antifreeze coolant for the zed
Any good quality blue antifreeze will suffice; Bluecol, Holts or even Halford's own brand (the blue one for older cars). You can buy reasonably good stuff in petrol stations now too - but they are more expensive. Not better, just marked up more!! Richard:thumbup1:

Just developed an oil leak.....
Cheers people! It could only have started yesterday too; the garage floor was spotless when I took the Z out in the morning and the undertray area you ca see through the mouth of the bumper was nice and dry - if a bit (well a lot) dusty. I left the car on the drive when I got back from the shops and, when I had finished washing the Merc, I drove the Z back into the garage - and that's when I first spotted the oil. I have taken it out today to give it a wash and there are small oil marks, 3 about 3 inches in diameter, under the car; about an inch or two under the front bumper. The botton of the oil cooler has oil residue around it, bit it looks otherwise OK. I guess it is just a hose or hose connector. We'll see when I get the car looked at by my local mechanic in the week - I don't want to drive it too far with an oil leak!! Richard:yinyang:

Just developed an oil leak.....
As I was putting the Z back in the garage this afternoon, I noticed quite a puddle of oil on the drive.... .....taking a closer look, it's all in the very front of the engine - in front of the radiator. You can see it in the mouth of the bumper, on the splash guard in front of the oil cooler. I'm guessing one of the oil cooler pipes has sprung a leak. I'll have to get it booked into the garage for them to take a look. Could the cooler itself have burst; or is it more likely just a hose? Hopefully it's a simple fix.... Richard:clover:

road tax on 300zx twin turbo
Hi mate, When I renewed in December it was £220; so I think it's £225 now after the price rise in March.... And that's for a year BTW. Richard:thumbup1:

Hotel room
I rarely use 'sites like Expedia or late rooms - unless it's for work - as they generally only seem to have "corporate" type or "chain" hotels on their books. If I'm looking for a holiday hotel, I tend to look on the AA's or Johansens' websites and chose individual, privately owned high quality hotels... Still not cheap, but I like places with character or history; oh and an award winning restaurant!! Have a great time in Cornwall Mandy - I love it down there and visit at least twice a year. My next trip is not until September though.... Richard:thumbup1:

Permanent ban system review and update....
My learned friends above are dead right! We have reconsidered the whole concept of the premanent ban system carefully; and this is not a "free for all" resulting in all previously banned members being welcomed back into the club. As Stella says, we have never taken lightly the decision to permanently ban someone from the club; so those who have been removed were done so for good reasons at the time. What this is, is a revamping of the system; the permanent ban system is still in place as a last resort, however the person banned may now reapply to the committee to return to the club after 12 months. We are not going to be pro-active in contacting previously banned members, like Stella says, it's not our responsibility to do that. This is the internet after all; and we all know that some news travels fast!! So if anyone handed a permanent ban would like to return, all they need do is e-mail me or another committee member (our forum e-mail addresses are publicly available - basically our forum name (at) 300zx.co.uk) and the committee will carefully consider each application, take a vote and advise whether or not their application was successful. Simples! We appreciate that times, circumstances and sometimes people can change; so we have decided to move with it and offer a second chance when it's appropriate. Some re-applicants may be successful; whilst others may not - depending on the reasons they were banned in the first place. Richard:thumbup1:

My first Z arrives tomorrow!
Welcome to the club William.... ....and my friend is dead right there!! No car I have owned has gotten its hooks into me like the 300zx mate! I'm on my second one now; and it's relegated to a weekend toy as I have a new-ish fast German roadster to use every day. However no matter how good one of Stuttgart's finest might be, it doesn't grab me in the same way that a 300zx does!! Good luck for tomorrow William; I look forward to seeing the pics of your new toy! Richard:thumbup1:
