  1. Indeed!!! Richard:clap:
  2. Not sure about the misfire William - but regarding the smoke, it just sounds like water vapour mate. As it dissapears when the engine is warm, I'd say nothing to worry about! As it's your first ZX - and they are all getting on in years now - you'd do well to watch oil and coolant levels for the first few hundred miles; just to gauge whether it's losing or using any fluids. If it doesn't, then all's well I'd say. Richard:thumbup1:
  3. Hmmm venison..... ....Ahem, sorry mate, no:whistling:
  4. Or up a chimmey.....:wink::lol:
  5. I can't see an issue having different tyres front to rear - although I have always been lead to believe that it is best to have the same make/tread pattern tyres on the same axle..! If I was buying a set of 4 tyres myself then, for what it's worth, I'd stick with the same brand/type all round. But that's just me....LOL Richard:thumbup1:
  6. That's good news mate - and those wheels are much better... Nice looking ZX you have there too - and (ahem) in one of my favourite colours..... Richard:thumbup1:
  7. Yup - that happened to me all right!! £800 for a new xenon headlamp... Glad your damage does not look to bad mate - and like you, I hit the deer at around 50 as I could not have safely swerved round it. Considering the impact to the front of the car at that speed, it seems we were both lucky the air bags were not deployed!! Richard:yinyang:
  8. Looks great fun mate - enjoy!! Richard:thumbup1:
  9. LOL - yes mate, that's the one.......
  10. And for Gaz; my favourite Dire Straits track....... Richard:bow:
  11. Here's mine for tonight.... Richard:punk:
  12. Hahahahaha.... Very good mate!! Of your original choices, I'd go as Hitler or Jimmy Saville - both for the reaction factor. Although with every Prince and his dog doing the Hitler thing, Jimmy Saville will certainly have the bigger impact. Richard:laugh:
  13. LOL - an infraction has a finite lifespan; a week, a month etc etc. If Allan says it has expired, assuming he has checked and is not just sweet talking you (we still have those pics of you in suspenders:lol:), then you are already "uninfracted" mate!! Richard:laugh:
  14. Indeed I do Steve; I have the interests of the club and membership at heart mate:thumbup1:
  15. Dead right Steve!! Which is why I am interested in your thread mate; and the resulting comments:wink: Richard:thumbup1:
  16. Last Sunday (30/6/13 - mine is a weekend toy) JAE 2012 - although I would like to resurrect the Red Lyon meet in my area!! I think I see where you're going with this Steve; and the thing is, most of us are passionate about our Zs otherwise we would not be here. And whilst we are internet based, we are still a car club; with that one common interest. But being internet based and having this forum does create the online culture that we are all part of. We all have lives/jobs/whatever - so if there was no forum, there would be even less contact between members. I had a classic Jaguar back in 1994 and was a subbed member of the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club. But I had no internet access then (like most people TBH) so the only contact I had with other members was a poxy news letter every so often, which simply told you about the odd meet. Then later in the 1990s I had a Mk3 Supra and belonged to the Toyota Enthusuast's Club (again, analogue rather than digital - at the time); so yet again a monthly news letter or magazine told me about meets I might want to attend. Sadly the magazine arrived about 1/2 an hour before the meet; so too late.... And now we are firmly in the digital/online/internet age and any car club worth its salt has an internet forum as well - I also belong to a Mercedes owners' club - and I have to say, it is much the same thing..... Members who are out at work all day get home, log onto a forum and "chat" with other members via a keyboard. That is what the 'web has done to car clubs my friend; not what car clubs are necessarily doing wrong. Those not online will eventually fold; as the sheer cost of producing news letters, magazines etc AND posting them the old fashioned way will simply go bankrupt. As a paid up member of the Zclub, I know it ceased its paper magazine ages ago as it was not economically viable. I am not saying I agree with the whole "online" or "forum" culture, but that seems to be the way things have evolved and most car clubs have gone with the flow. And getting back to the reasons why people join car clubs. I joined the Jag club, The TEC, 300zx.co.uk, The Zclub, the Mercedes owners' club for a couple of key reasons - primarily to obtain knowledge, advice and discounted parts/insurance etc., just like many other car club members. I found this place different though; hence I got more involved (carried along if you will) and very quickly became part of the community - so in 10 years of membership I am pleased to be able to give something back now, by serving on the committee. Yes, there should be more interaction, meeting fellow members and enthusiasts, etc. But when you have an uncontrollable beast like the internet; it just makes it all that bit easier for people to sit at home and chat with fellow club members. It's not right, but it's the way it is..... And to coin a phrase from another song regarding the whole internet thing.... you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!!! Richard:flowers:
  17. Welcome to the club Keith, we're a friendly bunch here..... ....See what I mean!! As for your choices, of course I'm going to say a 300zx as well. I have no problem with a Skyline but none of them really did it for me until the R34 arrived. But whilst the R33 is a great car, the 300zx is better looking and has more character - and if you want a weekend modern classic, I think the 300zx fits that bill better. Good luck in your search, whatever you chose. Richard:thumbup1:
  18. I agree - thank you veilside; that was very well said my friend!! Richard:thumbup1:
  19. There have been some good, positive comments on here in the last couple of days - and in that time Gary has said everything I could have contributed and more! So all I will add. is that if any member still serving a permanent ban wishes to contact me with regards to returning to the forum, please e-mail me on my forum address: richardsmith@300zx.co.uk Richard:thumbup1:
  20. Many happy returns Dean - have a great day mate! Richard:thumbup1:
  21. Without wanting to sound secretive, that is a matter between me and Mikey mate. Nothing behind the scenes, but we do respect every member's right to privacy.... Richard:clover:
  22. It's a thankless task sometimes Lee as you're damned if you do and damned if you don't!! I still enjoy being part of the forum though; it is good to be able (hopefully) to make a positive contribution to the place and like you say, hopefully do the right thing. But it isn't easy!! And it's good to hear that other members would also like that chance too.... Richard:thumbup1:
  23. LOL - good old fashioned banter!! Gotta love it......
