  1. That was my first thought TBH Tony - this is the second one as I've already had one replacement because the first one did not even switch on when I took it out of the box.... ....Cheers Lee - I'll give that a go tomorrow mate!! Goodnight for now, Richard:wink:
  2. Hi folks, I have a little Asus Netbook which we don't use a great deal - well Julia uses it every now and again. Thing is, whenever it downloads a Windows update, the damn thing fails to restart EVERY time!!! I switch it on, get the Asus screen and then nothing - just a blank screen with a cursor in the top left corner. Even the light to indicate the hard disc is operative doesn't illuminate - as it is inoperative. After pressing F3, F4 or enter a few times, it eventually springs back into life - so clearly there is something preventing Windows from starting up; but what???? The machine is barely 3 months old and runs on Windows 7 starter. I am at my bloody wits end with the damn thing to be honest; I have no issues with Windows updates on my laptop - so why is the fooking netbook causing so many problems. I have tried to restore it to the position before the update; but when it restarted (just now) I am back to the blank screen with the flashing cursor in the left hand corner. Any ideas - apart from stamping on the hateful little piece of crap? Richard:censored:
  3. Wise words Brian....
  4. Good point Andy.... ....I know from Tim (Oilman) that whilst many oils say they meet the grade for (EG) Mercedes spec 229.5 or whatever, it is only those which say "approved" by MB that have been tested and cleared for use in their cars!!! Hence if it says "MB spec 229.5" it is not as suitable as one marked "MB approval 229.5"....!!! Richard:cool:
  5. Bargain!! Thanks for the heads up matey.... I reckon I'll buy some and keep it in the garage ready for when my Z needs an oil change next spring..... I doubt my local garage will supply the oil at anywhere near that price when they do it:wink:
  6. A belated Welcome to the club David - if I haven't said it elsewhere mate.... And good luck in sourcing the part you need!! Richard:thumbup:
  7. Sad news indeed - RIP Lou....
  8. It was very windy around 6.30-7.00 this morning - definitely more blustery than normal; but nothing like the hurricane we were being warned about..... ....That said, electricity in my road (not sure about the rest of the village) has only just been restored after going off at 7.30 - and my mobile phone reception only resumed at around 11.30. It's been a fair mixture of sun and showers so far in Bucks....... Richard:blink:
  9. Yup - as said above, it's tyre related..... .....either the pressure has dropped in one or more tyres - or the run-flat monitor has been activated. Check your tyre pressures, inflate them all to the correct pressure and re-set the system monitor as per the instructions in your hand book!! If you have a slow puncture, then expect to see the light come back on in a couple of days; when the offending tyre drops pressure once again!! Richard:cool:
  10. Low 20s average for me also - and whilst I'd like to see some of the higher figures that others have achieved, myself; I think the best I have seen is about 24. But realistically I typically get about 21-ish...... And I salute anyone who can squeeze 28mpg from a 300zx - hell, I barely get that from my SLK350.....:crying: Richard:devil:
  11. Looking good mate......
  12. Here's one from me...... Richard:punk:
  13. Only because I know it's Paul C's old car and as I recall he bought an OEM 99-spec!! Otherwise, you'd have to check whether it's made from polyurethane or fibre glass - the fibre glass ones are replicas! Richard:)
  14. Probably because the seller does not know you can get replicas.... It is OEM, I believe though!! Richard:cool:
  15. Sad but true, I'm afraid..... .....And from a club perspective, we would not be prepared to have a batch of parts made and simply keep them in stock; on the off chance that some members might buy one or two a year between them. This kind of thing has been done before by other car clubs and it failed miserably. The best we can hope for is a trader on board who can supply the rare parts to order - or at least have a contact within the club who can supply as demand dictates. And as I say, if the demand is not high (which it won't be) - then we must not be disappointed by higher prices and extended delivery times. Richard
  16. So do I...... ......And whilst I try to restrict use to dry days, I do usually take my ZX down to Cornwall at New Year... Richard:winkiss:
  17. Each to their own opinion of course - but I reckon a single wiper conversion would look even more of an after-thought than the stock set-up mate..... .....At least the two wipers drop down to the base of the 'screen when they are switched off; if yours don't then they need adjusting:wink: Richard:cool:
  18. Perfect - thanks Graham!! Richard:thumbup:
  19. Actually, you're probably right Alex.....!! Cheers, Richard:sorcerer:
  20. Hi folks, to save me looking, what is the diameter of the MAF - as I need to buy a new jubilee clip for the hose..... ...I was thinking about 4 inches?? Richard:cool:
  21. No worries Dave.... But you are right mate - from a simple question about the availability of parts, this has evolved into a useful and (for the future of many 300zxs) important debate. Whilst many of us do have cars that don't require such bits now - who knows what a few more years on the UK's roads will do to our Zeds?? Richard:)
  22. It's not a bad idea at all Si - and not the wrong time to discuss it either; as this thread has evolved in that direction anyway... But it could be done that way; the club will of course not be permitted to any financial gain from it. Nonetheless we could potentially have such parts manufactured to order and sell them via the club shop at cost. For me it is no problem - provided the supplier would be prepared to continue making the items for us. And at a cost that would not prohibit our members buying them..... Granted, I have no idea whether a supplier would or would not get on board with us. But if they were only being asked to make one or two a year, would they think it worthwhile...? I don't know - but if they would then I cannot see a problem with your idea working!! Richard
  23. Many happy returns mate - have a great day!! Richard:happybday:
  24. Now this is what we need to get things moving.... .....As I said, the best solution is for a trader (or even group of traders) to get on board with the idea and assess whether it is viable in the first place....:clover:
