  1. It was like a facsimile of the old TG, but without the chemistry...... At least Matt Le Blanc demonstrated that Americans can do sarcasm. But Chris Evans? I was disappointed - he was way too hyper, darting about shrieking as if on speed, like he used to be on his old shows. Yup, he's enthusiastic and a petrol head; but where's the professionalism in his delivery...? Sorry, but he was as irritating as an itchy anus.....:nono: Still, the filming on location was quality even if the challenges were a re-hash of what we've seen before. Will I watch it again? Probably - it was the first episode so I'll give it a chance.
  2. Hi all, As you know, we do review requests from banned members to have their ban revoked after a set time has passed. Mikey Bean recently applied to have his ban reviewed and the committee has agreed to allow Mikey's return to the forum. If anyone has any objections or wishes to comment (in strict confidence) please drop me a PM. Otherwise we (ahem....) look forward to welcoming Mikey back into the club. Richard
  3. I gave mine a wash....... ......After a little trip to Wilton House yesterday!! Whilst I enjoyed the house and gardens, the Earl of Pembroke is a real petrol-head and has a great car collection:bow: I'll post some pics separately, but among them are a 1972 240z and a black Veyron...
  4. A belated happy birthday Lee; sorry I missed it, but hope you had a great day mate!! Richard:oops::thumbup:
  5. Hello and welcome to the club Sean! Good luck with your new purchase....

  14. Yep - damned internet forums....
  15. I know Dave..... I just had to say something positive about the auto...
  16. You misquoted me Steve....! I totally agree the manuals are more desirable today, therefore currently worth more; all I said was as the Z32 becomes more and more rare, then I believe that condition will prevail, as opposed to what type of transmission the car has. If you had 2 cars to chose from, one being an immaculate auto TT and the other a manual TT which could do with some cosmetic work, what would you do? I'd buy the better condition car - it can always be converted to a manual if I wanted; most probably for less money than turning it into an immaculate example! The most desirable option was the 2+2 TT auto, 20+ years ago when the cars were new - that's why Glasses and CAP would have rated them with higher prices, back in the olden days. I'm not applying that logic now mate. I've been here long enough to know better.......
  17. Not sure Ali..... But it could explain why the current preference (hence price) leans towards manual, as there are less to chose from. But in the UK, most buyers from new would certainly have ticked the "auto" option. Stands to reason, the 300zx is a GT car; and back in the early 1990s, at £35k plus, it was an expensive car. Potential buyers might have been in the market for the XJS or the like - same as those buying an XK8 or BMW 6-series today.
  18. IMO, the whole "auto vs manual" thing will become less and less important as these cars get more rare.... ......It's just a fad; a phase in the car's progression through time. In the early days (pre-Jap imports), the autos were worth more - just as many new cars are now; when using the likes of CAP, Glasses Guide etc. (back when the 300zx was listed....... ) as the sources of valuation. But as performance cars age, lose their value and become affordable to the masses, the "kidz" want manuals; so the autos lose the edge and become less desirable. Then perceived values drop. Now there are fewer remaining, condition will prevail and the differences in transmissions will close once more. And I'm not just saying that because I own an auto.... So to finish, all I'll say, is in this present age, virtually all high performance cars are autos - from the best that Audi/BMW/Merc/Porsche have to offer; right up to the hypercars from McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini and (the ultimate) Bugatti.......
  19. Many happy returns mate....!! Richard:happybday:
  20. Congratulations on the new job Si..... Company car tax on a Merc is not so bad - as with premium German motors (Audi/BMW/Merc) the emissions are generally lower than most comparable cars. It's the tax on fuel that's the killer. Unless you drive 12,000 PRIVATE miles a year, you're better off paying for your own fuel; it's cheaper than paying the tax. Just reclaim business fuel at circa 12p per mile...
  21. Thanks for your continued support Adam! Richard:cool:
  22. Thanks for your support Russ - I shall ensure your new sub expires on 9th May 2017 mate.....
