  1. You've got a bit muddled there Yas ;) Doolz, Whilst this uses 2 mafs, only 1 is actually used for any readings. 2 pipes merge and force the incoming air from both cones to channel out and feed each turbo/intercooler , the 2nd maf is used simply because as air passes through a MAF, it causes a unique charcateristic caused from both speed and pressure, so that both of the doolz pipes have the same characteristic at the meeting point, a dummy maf is used on the left doolz pipe, this is usually from the nissan maxima or early scoobie. downside of this kit is it's length, it really pushes the cones down very low behind the bumper, just nice for our English weather :( JWT, 2 Sharp radius bends each feeding their own seperate turbo/intercooer pipe and a decent branded cone on the other end, again dummy maf is used normally on the left bank to create that same flow characteristic, however in this case, because both flows of air do not merge, the airflow meter only takes one reading, hence the use of apexi SAFC. Twincone kit as previously sold by me and now danny. Idea came from HKS many years ago and is proven to be of benefit, fact ;) Yes it is limited, in the same way as the doolz, once the maf maxes out, (480ish bhp) thats it no matter how many cones you add it does nowt! However it does provide far stronger and quicker amounts of colder air as opposed to a single cone does and therefore like the doolz, can increase performance upto the limit of the MAF. BTW, the doolz has now been updated and should you go down this route, the new version has been shown to be better performing than the original ones sold by Z1, who don't sell the new version cos they never designed it. ;) IMO if your anywhere near to maxing out your maf now, go for the JWT style, if not then the doolz or the twincone kit, though again and it's just imo, the twincone kit takes edge because 1) it prevents water soak in the mafs which even the singles can't always get away from and 2) should you gain more power and worry your maxing out, simply upgrade to the Q45 MAF, which is not as easy to do with the doolz ;) cheers smithy

What makes you think your car is over fueling ? is it stock, modded etc The engine temp sensor ontop of the top water inlet pipe is known to go cruddy and cause over fueling, so check that is all okay. If the car is modded just list whats been done so we can see whats the possible cause. As pete says though, when the time comes for you chip it, see the traders, andyp and JohnD who can do that for yer. hth cheers smithy
  3. Ditto and that's all that matters mate ;) He has some fixed pricing on suspension replacements, so best check out his website fella. smithy
  4. All the very best mate and it's good to know yer older than me, by about 8 weeks that is :D cheers smithy
  5. Ok G yeah ;) I had checked that but other than special design, couldn't the difference in the b+c's. Andy some god links there mate thanks, Anders seems to go into it in some depth and I was about to ask what the difference is between B + C when Mark posted, thanks Mark ;) So from that we've deduced then the US cars had the B and the Jap and UK the C grade, though B is for cars running higher boost, wonder why it's fitted in the US cars ? reason for the questions was that i had a new set of C grade and a set of the B grade that came in with an order lately and wasn't sure which was best to use. cheers smithy
  6. Anyone know the diff between NGK PFR6B-11C and NGK PFR68-11B ? given that i assumed the 6 was the temp rating ? are the B''s cheaper or summit ? I would have thougt they were same price. thanks smithy
  7. TBH mate loads of guys in the US on twinturbo.net seem to have the Greddy SP exhaust and many also have sound clips, so best bet is as your over there, on this one give them a shout ;) smithy
  8. Went for Bridgestone S02's couple years back and they were awesome  though very expensive, when it came to replacement they changed to the S03's, having heard they were not as good as the S02's I then chose Eagle F1's and are great as well and lasting well despite the odd doughnut and wheel spin or 2 ;) Look at Forumla 1 and all they ever use is Bridgestone and Goodyear so that says alot about thos brands, plus we all know how unpredictable the Zeds tail can be, so buy wisely as you may not get a second chance! cheers smithy
  9. Fantastic looking car Randy and i really love your own site, great detail and pics  oh and the ole "smithys" bling looks well in there mate ;) You just need a pic or 2 of our UK Topless Zeds for your gallery. well done smithy
  10. Flippin eck mate, checking the CAS is only a 10min job with a 10mm or 12mm spanner, do that one. Relay, you mean the one in the drivers side footwell ? if so when mine wasn't getting a feed, a wire was simply wedged in the back of relay to bridge the terminals and i ran it like that for over a year, you could of course whip the relay out and look for a matching type one within the car and swap em over. smithy
  11. In order of price. 1) Smithys brake upgrade using GTR DBA discs, porterfields and caliper brackets ( just waiting on brackets to come through) 2) GTR set up from the R33 straight bolt on 3) Evo brembo's ( i wonder about their ability) 4) GTR set up from the R34, very minor alteration to fit 5) 350z brembo set up, same as above 6) AP racing 6 pot complete kit around £1,500 7) KAD 6 pot kit, around £1,600 Smithy
  12. Well done mate glad to see this kinda thing up and running, i've been meaning to do mine for sooooo long now it's untrue. I've got the SPAL fan, got the electrical wiring kit and already fitted a temp activation switch in my top water inlet pipe ready, this comes on at 80deg. For about a month i've been recording temps from my Apexi electronic gauge so i can get a before and after set of readings. Once me plenums off to sort oil leaks out, this deffo is next job on the to do asap list. ;) cheers smithy
  13. Whiteline do a few bits for teh Zed, however SPL and Powertrix do the full range of adjustable geometry/suspension parts, with SPL just having the edge as the most favoured with Zedders in the US. Do a search on the forum here and there should be a fair bit of info as i've regulaly supplied both ranges to members, any queries, just drop me a line smithy@manx.net hth cheers smithy
  14. Deffo test the other items 1st before replacing fuel pumps mate. Just to add to maciej's great write up, when checking the CAS, (after marking 1st the position of the 3 bolts that hold it in position) pull the CAS out, turn iginition on and turn the spindle at the back slowly, you should here all the injectors "clicking" if you don't, then it suggests this is the problem, i'll happily send you a spare to 100% confirm if that happens. As well as that, have someone turn the iginition on whilst your at the back of the car with yer head near the bumper or in the boot, you should here the pumps "buzz" for a few seconds. Also the fuel pump control unit has been known to go bad without warning, this link should help you do a temp fix and prove if thats what it is. http://www.aus300zx.com/tech/fpcu/fpcu-2%2B2.html for a 2+2 http://www.aus300zx.com/tech/fpcu/fpcu.htm for a 2 seater. Finally, in the drivers footwell is a relay for the fuel system, which does not show as a fault on the ECU, though it takes a reading from it. My ECU had a fault some years ago and did not send a signal to the relay to complete the circuit, bridging the wires on the relay worked fine for over a year until i fiited another ECU, again this is easy to 100% confirm with another working ECU. hth cheers smithy
  15. RPS Sport street kit with RPS lightweight Fly combo £685, with the lightweight underdrive pulley and belts from SGP £125 or the Unortodox £130 or you can go for the full Unorthodox set (4 pulleys) £250 with belts. Fitting for a clutch and fly should be between £170-£200 and underdrive pulley and belts from around £50. hth cheers smithy

Gees, you wanna try paying 200 quid just to get over to the mainland with yer car taking upto 4 hours, then driving from Heysham or Liverpool to the meet and all has to be done the day before so at least 1 over night stay in each direction. :( If i lived over there, i'd pretty much be up for each one knowing i could be there just a matter of hours ;) smithy
  17. Thanks mate, though price is in fact incorrect, they are £535 including new O'rings. ;) Just havn't bothered changing it cos me new site is real close to being finished. cheers smithy
  18. It's a Bomex UAD 188 with canards on ;) Nice bumper imo, cos i got it on mine cheers smithy
  19. Yeah Danny's now taken over all my Stainless pipework to allow me more time to develop more products for the Zed. All other stainless goodies are still from me ;) cheers smithy
  20. If you do a search on this, you;ll see it's been done to death and no it don't fit. 1) It is universal and the bolt pattern on the bottom of the filter does not line up with your MAF. 2) The adapter in the pic is NOT for a 300zx, infact if it fitted the apexi i'd be surprised. 3) making up a simple adapter plate is not straight forward, i make them so i know. 4) The apexis are designed to be BOLTED directly onto a MAF plate or a MAF itself by way of it's hard plastic base with studs in, to make up an adapter for this you need to make 1 plate with your MAF pattern, another plate with the apexi pattern and join them both together by way of a small length of stainless or alloy tube, welded in between, thus doing away with the design of the apexi's ability to force air directly into the MAF. 5) On the odd occassion when these come through, they are marked cheap enough to avoid customs fees, but NOT brokerage fees from the courier handling it, sometimes 10-15 quid. Now add all that up, just buy one from Danny complete with instructions and the knoweldge it fits 1st time round and does what it's meant too ;) For the pittance you save, ain't worth it, imo :D smithy
  21. 1) yes 2) yes All because you are now running the TT lump, however as manual gearboxes are sometimes a bit hard to find, the write up above from lymon is not hard to do for a garage and would save you the costs of another gearbox, leaving you just to buy the clutch and fly. hth smithy
  22. Not fitting new tension rods (adjustable) causes undue strain on the new adjustable upper arms mate, so yes fit them both at the same time. Some pics/details in my import section if that helps, post number 4 http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=44339&referrerid=119 Oh and adjustable front tension rods allow adjustment of front caster and provides more steering response and feedback. hth cheers smithy
  23. What units have you beeen using so far mate ? I assume with you being a TT now they have been TT clutch units. whilst the N/A uses smaller units and TT units won't fit N/A engines as such, i don't know if the N/A will work on a TT lump and if it does maybe that's yer problem. Can sort yer the RPS Sport for the TT, in stock too for £310 if interested. cheers smithy
  24. Looks sweet mate  all yer hard work an effort has really paid off, all that's left is fit Brembo rears and your all done :) oh nice colour you done on the calipers too. cheers smithy
  25. So what Fly and pulley did you opt for fella ? smithy
