At a loss what is causing petrol smell
Stuart, I cant say for definate its coming from the engine bay, are there any suspect areas/connections in between the front and the tank ? Has anyone had similar experiences as Gio's - replacing fuel pressure regulator and damper curing petrol smell ? Any tips on isolating where the smell is coming from ? Thanks everyone. I did take the cover off and replaced the small hoses John

At a loss what is causing petrol smell
Thanks Steve, Mine is not a severe petrol smell, but enough to be concerned. Its only occassionaly. When I undo the petrol filler cap, I do get that "whoosh" sound, so I guess that means its holding the pressure, does that rule out a petrol tank neck leak ? Cheers John

At a loss what is causing petrol smell
Recently I was noticing a smell of petrol occassionaly, so last weekend I replaced the fuel filter, all the hoses with high pressure rubber fuel line ( I could not quite afford the nice steel braided ones this month) and all new hose clamps. I still have the occassional petrol smell, I have ran the engine and inspected for leaks - no leaks. I am at a loss as to where the smell is coming from, when the smell is there it is when sat at the traffic lights mainly. Are there any valves or gismos that could be responsible for causing this petrol smell ? Any suggestions on where to look next would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John Dixon

Rear Spoiler
Thanks Paul, Before I would pay anyone £100 for an hours work to paint a spoiler I would buy a spray gun and do it myself. Good point about the spray cans, paint goes on so thin it would take numerous coats, and with so many coats it would increase the chance of getting a paint run. Cheers John

Rear Spoiler
Stuart, Mine is starting to paint crack, I guess after the winter I will have to have a new fiberglass one. Are the ones (standard type) for sale at the ZedCenter (£150) fairly easy to fit? Could it be sprayed with a can of spray paint first and carefully installed without damaging the paint. Or maybe even buy a cheap paint sprayer, spraying is not too difficult. I am trying to eliminate going through a body shop, turning a £150 spoiler into a £300 project. John

Fuel Filter
After replacing the fuel filter (57,000 miles, (10 year old car - I dont know if its the original filter) I have noticed that the hesitation under hard acceleration is gone, and the acceleration seems better. By the way, I first went to Halfords for the filter, the guy told me he could order one, would be £25! I asked him what would be the price without the free tank of petrol (he did not appreciate the humour) - I then went to Nissan dealer and bought it for £11.98, a pleasant surprise. Sometimes Nissan parts are not to bad in price. Cheers John

Rear Spoiler
But surely, if you dry it out, seal it, prime it, paint it, the moisture will not be able to get back in, at least for a few years. Im sure the original spoiler lasted 5 or 6 years before it started to crack. John

100 watt low beam bulbs
This may sound stupid, but I wonder if computer 12 volt dc fans behind the lamps would do any good? John

100 watt low beam bulbs
Does anyone know if it is successful to use a relay with a higher wattage (100 watts) H3 low beam bulb, and if so, how is it wired and what relay do you use. Thanks John

fuel pump fuse
Yes Bilky, they appear to be a Nissan "fusible link" £10 each. I dont understand the difference between a fusible link and a fuse, except 20 times the price! John

fuel pump fuse
Thanks Pete............ Will try Halfords now. John

fuel pump fuse
Its like a square cube thing, not the usual blade fuse. I can try Halfords I guess, I dont recall seeing anything like this anywhere. John

fuel pump fuse
Pete, It maybe my Toad immobiser then, mine ran for several minutes, I finally gave up and switched off. I broke the clear plastic cover from the top of the 30 amp fuel pump fuse. It still works, but I want to replace it, is it a Nissan only part, or can I get it from somewhere else. Thanks John
-
fuel pump fuse
I remove the fuel pump fuse from the engoine compartment fuse box, ran the engine to run it out of fuel so I could disconnect fuel lines, engine runs forever? how long does it take to run it out of fuel ? Thanks John

Neperformance
I'm beginning to wonder if NEperformance exists..........in 6 months I never have been able to get on their website.........the progress bar creaps along at a snails pace, and goes nowhere, I do have 512 Broadband, so its not my computer's fault. Are they still in business ? John

vacuum hoses
Thanks Smithy, I really like the fuel lines, I do get petrol smell (usually when cold) even though I have given the clamps an extra 1/4 turn or so. Probably due to hardening of the rubber hose at the clamp area I suspect. Does your price include the brackets, spacers, etc. that I see in the pictures. I take it the short hoses shown in the picture that Pete posted are not included. Do I just replace them with normal fuel line stuff from the local motor factors? Do you stock this kit ? Shipped same day? Thanks John

vacuum hoses
Pete, Is the 4mm tubing just normal vacuum line stuff? John

vacuum hoses
Those fuel lines certainly look great, I need to replace mine very soon, getting an occasional smell of petrol. Cheers John

vacuum hoses
I did not see any vacuum hoses on Smithy's section, just fuel line hose. (by the way, is his fuel line kit all cut to size with the ends on, or does he sell you a length that you cut and fit the ends) What type of end connectors are those ? they look special. John

vacuum hoses
I want to replace all my vacumm hoses, I did a search, and got 2 different sizes, one person said 4 & 6mm, another said 3 & 5 mm fits better. Whats everyones opinion? I guess they dont need any sort of clamp, at least, my existing ones dont have any on. Thanks John
