Modifications / Upgrades
How much you want to spend on brake fluid. Dot 4 is needed and infact better than 5.1. I use Castrol RS Racing fluid. Its good for temperatures to 600ºC I think it said, and is infact a racing spec fluid. Wasted on my car really ;) But its very good but costs.

A question about cruise control on early Zeds.
UK ones didnt have airbags I dont think. I think they where only availiable from 1994 onwards. I cant see people removing the CC system because they have a new wheel. They most probably just cut the CC button wires and leave them behind the wheel. If so all you need is 3 normal buttons to replace them with. Maybe try get some buttons from a standard car and move them to the steering column

Blueflame make Mongoose which are a very good and quality product. If you buy the ones they sell on Ebay every now and then they look similar to Mongoose but I think they use better quality stainless steel. If you go there for a custom exhaust, you can what ever style you like, but it would cost more. AdamR had a Blueflame custom exhaust and he was very happy with it. Its also only about 5 miles from where I live ;)

twin turbo engine
Engines can be rebuilt. You rebuild it and it will it should be virtually new. Get a used one and you dont know the history or condition of it. (usually)

Next generation consoles.
What is the point of having DVDs which hold 32Gig of information? I dont think there is a game which uses the full 4.7gig of a normal DVD let a lone the 8Gig+ of a dual layered DVD. People keep going on about this Cell Processor. Any one had first hand experience with it?

Hi
Dont what you can to the engine before you have to change internals. Boost increase (preferably boost controller) to 13-14psi, ECU upgrade (Custom map as it is specialised for your car and will give you more power) Good exhaust, Good intake, Decat pipes, Lightened pulley, Optional Larger intercoolers, Lightened flywheel This should get the the stated power. you dont need the intercoolers but they will help a lot as the stock ones would be at their limit with that much boost. Matt, the speed restriction is removed with virtually any chip upgrade, and most Jap imports get the restriction taken off when the speed convertor is installed. Now that I think about it, probably the worse parts of the Z are the brakes and lights. Brakes are nothing special, you expect more for this car, and the dip lights are virtually pointless. the main beam is not bad.

Lady ZX owner needs help
Lisa, what are the symptoms of the problem? Does the car turn over when you try to start it? Does the engine run and then die a few mins later? Does it start but then run like a dog and stuggle to stay going?
-
Hi
UK restricted to 155mph, Jap restricted to 112mph, Un-restricted stock people have gone over 170mph. Theoretical top speed is 186mph manual, 201mph auto. But you will probably need a few mods for that. The ECU is quite good, you need to get a socket installed on it and there are plenty of people on here who make custom chips for your car. Personally I would say the weakness on the auto is the autobox. Although it is very quick and smooth change, they tend to fail at around 400bhp. You will need to get that uprated. Other than that there is no real weakness. The ECU is easy enough to chip, the boost is easy enough to increase. You can get 360-380 bhp with ease, before you start looking at having to change any major components (pistons, injectors turbos etc.) You can get 360-380bhp with only a few hundred pounds, probably less if you already have exhaust and induction kit.

Police shooting
Nope. It was later discovered that he had nothing to do with the bombers and he had no explosives in his bag. But I still dont think the police have done anything wrong. It is well known that bombs have been placed on underground trains and buses in rucksacks, and yet this person (who had a ruck sack) decides to run away from police when they where speaking to him, he was told to stop by armed police when he ran and didnt and then he ran on to a tube train as it was about to pull off. How stupid can you get. Its unfortunate and Im not saying he didnt deserve it. Its trajic, but what did he expect the poilce to do when he ran?

Hi
Dont think that the car was road legal. It holds the land speed record of its class, of front engine, rear wheel drive less than 5 litres of something. It did hold the record of any front engine rear wheel drive until 1997 when a pontiac beat it. But that had a 7 litre turbo engine in it and only got 5kph more or something. As for mods Supra and Skylines are easier to modify because there is more room in the engine and because of the straight 6 configuration. That also means a single turbo conversion is easier to do, if you just want big power numbers than a V6 where you need 2 of virtually everything and the room is more restrictive. The reason they made the V6 was to make then engine bay more compact giving it a better weight distribution. The 300ZX is easier to modify than the 3000GT/GTO (from what I hear anyway) Its easy to change the chip and up the boost for some cheap power. 0-60 I believe is 0.1 seconds faster in the 300ZX (again not from personal experience but from what I have read over a number of different forums), I dont think the extra weight of the 3000GT helps it much. The 300ZX is a fat car but the 3000GT is obeise. From a rolling start I would feel you would notice the difference in acceleration in the 300ZX between the two. 4 Wheel drive is great for cornering and standing starts but Rear Wheel drive is better for rolling starts due to rear wheel drive better for acceleration and much less power loss in a RWD over a 4WD system. From previous post from people who have driven both cars, they say the 3000GT seems detached from the driver as it is so techinical and electronic and you feel you are only in charge of the wheel and accleration and not in charge of the whole car. Mods are easy to get hold of. There are a number of traders on here who can get you most things you need from the latest performance electronic gadgets to quality used parts. There are many variations of the 300ZX. Not so much as the 3000GT where there were engine differences and more major cosmetic changes (ie popup lights) Year by year they are all very much the same. The air con control system changed around 1992 as well as a few electrionic things. Heated seats, electric seats on both sides become more comon the younger the car. As for car variations there are 2+2 (Long Wheel Base) and 2 seater (Short Wheel Base) T-Top and slick top Convertable (These are none turbo and 2 seater only) Twin Turbo and NA. Most comon are 2+2 Twinturbo T-Top. All UKs are 2+2 Twinturbo T-Top as that is all is available in the Europe. If you are going for speed go for the 2 seater slick top, as it is the lightest because its shorter, no heavy glass roof and there is no need for the extra heavy strenthening. If you are going for enjoyment of cruising 2+2 T-Top. I love the T-Top, there is nothing better than driving with the roof off in the summer. 2+2 because I think the car looks better when its longer, gives it more road presents.

advice plz
The temp gauge is meant to stay in the middle. That is perfect temperature. You can have an engine which is too cold as well as too hot.
