Is This Safety Boost??? Please help.
Thanks guys for the quick responses  Now I had discounted the MAF, as that is what caursed my last problem, but that time it would cut out everytime I started it, and this time it was just rough, with the revs limied. BUT, I've just gone out to the car and removed the filter and MAF, and there is water behind the filter seal and the filter is soaked. So it's now apart and in the airing cupbard drying out over night! Let's hope this solves it for tomorrow?! Again, thanks :)

Is This Safety Boost??? Please help.
Hi peeps, I've got problems yet again!!! :( Just been driving, went to put my foot down and she coughed and spluttered a bit. Immediate reaction was that the air filter might be a bit wet (as it's raining) anyway got into the next town and she really started to have a very rough idle, so pulled into a petrol station forecourt. She didn't like running well at all, but didn't cut out, just very rough. Sat idleing for a while, and eventually she seemed to run fairly smoothly, pressed the accelerator and found she started to cough and splut again, also wouldn't go past 2500 revs! Also there is a bad burning smell coming from underneath, which I don't normally take any notice of as she has a minor oil leak from the rear crank seal (suspected, as the bottom of the bellhousing is oil soaked), which drips off and onto the cat (while driving), but this time was more like an actural burning rather than a burnt oil smell! Anyway I've managed to drive her back to Karens house, all the way in Safety Boost (as I think it is) and it won't let me go above 2500 revs. Got to get home to Grantham tomorrow (43 miles!!!) if I am in Safety Boost, will it be OK to drive? (or is that a really stupid question?) So any clues? Is it Safety Boost? Is it a blown Turbo? And if it is a blown Turbo, what sort of (serious) price are we talking? Or does anyone want to buy Eliza with a defunct Turbo? (and YES that's serious as well!!!) All help appreciated, thank you. And if anyone does want her, I'm sure we can come to a decent arrangement! ;)

Opinions on this please !
I'm on his database, and so far haven't received any spam, well nothing above a 'Once-In-A-Blue-Moon' e-mail from him anyway. It's gone very quiet recently, and TBH I never expected anything out of it, a lot of Pie-In-The-Sky!

Illusions
These are very interesting - be sure to take the time to observe # 7 as instructed - they are all amazing... 1) Is This Possible?? 2) 3) Are the purple lines straight or bent? 4) Do you see gray areas in between the squares? 5) You should see a man's face and also a word... Hint: Try tilting your head to the right, the world begins with 'L' 6) If you take a look at the following picture, let me tell you .... it is not animated. Your eyes are making it move. To test this, stare at one spot for a couple seconds and everything will stop moving. Or look at the black center of each circle and it will stop moving. But move your eyes to the next black center and the previous will move after you take your eyes away from itWeird ? 7)

Anyone recommend a car transporter in the Midlands area?
Not seen this post before (yes I know it's an old one) Eliza has been picked up twice by these people this year ( :headvswal ) and the last time was with this special covered one that Nick mentioned. The company was extremely helpful, driver very knowledgeable and friendly, he took his time (blocking off half of ASDA, Oadby's carpark) lowering the rear onto the ground, and winching Eliza on. All covered over for extra protection, I was very impressed with them, a very professional outfit indeed. Oh yeah, and it didn't cost me a penny ;) good old RAC!

I'm amazed.....
Can't see why anyone would say "I'll leave unless things change!" If the forum is getting that bad for them, then they should consider time away! It worked for me earlier this year, I'm now refreshed and back most nights, although I'm not posting as much as I use to. I also think Andy would make a very good Committee member  Gets my vote anyway ;)

Scalextric 300zx
Alas the AFX one is HO scale, which is about 1/64th, whereas Scalextric is 1/32nd scale, twice the size. Still on the hunt for the OCAR one, but nothing yet.

She failed MOT!
;) Fortunately I already know about it, and know the cure, but simply don't have the money to have the job done (rear crank seal) I quite liked point 10, he was referring to the Overheat sensor wire, which I also knew about, but at least it was good to point these out which the other place I used to use never really said anything

Indiglo dial trouble
Mario is indeed correct, you needn't remove the needles for the fitting of these indiglows, but you have and now we should be able to help you. Give me a few mins, and I'll see if I can find the fitting instructions that I had for my white dials. Mine DID require the removal of the old dials and the needles, so it came with in-depth instructions on how to do them properly. As a rule there should be a big enough hole in the centre to allow you to slide the new overlay over the end of the needle and then upto the centre position. This ONLY applies to the speedo and tacho, as the others can be separated without problem. Back in a bit Dave

Scalextric 300zx
Right, I've got some (read VERY limited) info for you so far..... A company called OCAR used to produce a resin body kit of the 300ZX Z32, which then could be fitted to a modified Proslot GT3 chassis. On checking their details I see that they no longer list the 300 kit anywhere (I can't even find any photo's to post) I've e-mailed Pendle Slot Racing (who stock the OCAR range) to see if they can help at all, so I'll post back when/if I hear anything. On the other hand, I posted this info some time ago on here..... I've just done another search for the Monogram kit, and couldn't find anything anywhere! Dave

Scalextric 300zx
If my memory serves me correctly ;) I looked into this a year or so ago and you can buy a 300ZX body shell, and it fits onto a Scalextric Porsche (963 I think) body shell. I'll see if I can find some more details and get back to you :D HTH Dave

She failed MOT!
Got it sorted with a mechanic I know(and have used before) for a total of £90!! :D :hyper: Now for the partial re-test on Monday

Indiglo dial trouble
It mainly depends on how you've fitted the gauges! Did you remove the needles? If so, then this will be why your temp gauge is out of true. Also have you blanked off the portion above the Boost gauge? (Thus stopping the lamps from shining down) Let me know, and I'll see what I can suggest from there ;) Dave

She failed MOT!
Well, I suppose it was inevitable, Eliza failed the MOT on Wednesday :( 1) Nearside front (to rear) brake pipe excessively corroded. 2) Offside front (to rear) brake pipe excessively corroded. Now due to my total lack of confidence, concerning last years MOT, with the place I've been going to for the last 15 years (!!), I decided I couldn't go too wrong taking it to my local Nissan Main dealer (mainly down to the fact I simply don't trust any garage local these days) and to be frank they weren't all that bad (I won't mention the fact that I had to wait a further week & 1/2 as their MOT machine was out of calibration  and they couldn't fit me in) But I had to laugh at the quote for the work on replacing the 2 brake pipes ;) ........................ 5 hours labour :) which worked out at (and this was without parts)...... ..... .... ..... A staggering £350!!!!!!!!!     As I'm sure you can guess, I declined their kind offer ;) I also got some advisories....... 1) Offside front suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush. 2) Rear (centre) brake pipe slightly corroded. 3) Offside rear brake pipe slightly corroded. 4) Nearside rear upper tie bar/rod has slight play in a pin/bush. 5) Offside rear upper tie bar/rod has slight play in a pin/bush. 6) Nearside front brake pipe slightly corroded. 7) Offside front brake pipe slightly corroded. 8) Oil leak. 9) Viscous fan damaged (starting to crack/break up). 10) N/S/R O2 sensor wire broken in two. (Their words, not mine) Didn't I do well (in a Bruce Forsyth styley!)

Windscreen demister is rubbish?
You can buy it ready made..... DTA sell the ConZult which does pretty much everything (I think) there is also DataScan, which is a lot cheaper, but doesn't do as much. Personally if you have the money I'd recommend the ConZult, as it is by far superior to the DataScan (I've had both, and sold the ConZult :headvswal wish I hadn't now) That's my opinion anyway. Incidentally, I wasn't trying to out-do Andy, as his info is spot-on :D

Gad Damn it I hate computers
Yeah, but have you run it?? Also give Ad-Aware a go as well (YES you can have both on the same PC) >> http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10766151.html?tag=lst-1 It can pick up stuff SpyBot doesn't, and vice-versa! And don't forget to run your anti-virus software, you never know (assuming you have one? AVG is a good FREE one if you don't, also available from Download.com) :D

Fairlady Z Version S. 1995

Gad Damn it I hate computers
Get hold of SpyBot Search And Destroy (SpyBot S&D) and do a SpyWare check, always a good place to start! On the other matter of Internet Explorer, go through the procedure as stated in the other thread, which should sort it out. but defo do the spyware check first! HTH (PS- I also think that FireFox is shite ;) )

who wants to buy a service history
Not being funny, but I can't see the joke  You've been able to buy blank service record books for years! I bought one for my old Capri (complete with print date code, so i knew how old it was) which hadn't been available for a good ten years, at the time! Dealers can, sometimes, supply these as well!

Windscreen demister is rubbish?
Take a look at the Self Diagnostic Procedure >> http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=ha&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=118&design=default&total=168 See following pages as well!! Then go to the lower part of this page (continues on the next page) to find out where to find the relevant fault procedure >> http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=ha&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=112&design=default&total=168 HTH Dave
