squeek squeek
Have you checked whether the arms themselves are squeaking as they adjust over the screen. They move up and down against the spring as well as side to side. I've obviously been lucky as I've never had this problem on the Z Simon.

Why do this to a car?....
20mins per pound plus 20 extra, should be ready by Christmas............just don't know what year.

mot question, probably for PaulC
I believe any lights attached to the vehicle have to be working properly, so although not part of the standard test, if they're there and not working, the tester can fail the car at his discretion.

squeek squeek
Are you sure it's the blades and not the mechanics of the arm?? Simon.

Oh Dear poor Duffer
Where's the option for seven??? :D

Axle stands - what a faff
I have a similar problem regarding a rippled floor, but use some old hardboard off the back of a wardrobe, smooth side up. Nice and thin because I'm not, :D , but slippery enough to slide in and out of on my back. Have been known to use a small bit of carpet to slide in and out on top of the board, web side up. Poor man's crawler replacement! Going to have to stick mine up again soon, if the insurance company will let me keep it. :( Simon.

Syphoning petrol
My car sits on my drive awaiting the verdict of guilty ( written off and taken away ) or not ( Written off but I can keep it). It has done precisely thirteen miles since I filled it up, and I don't want to let that disappear with my car. Anyone any idea how I can syphon this off, as there seems to be anti-syphon baffles in the filler hose to stop this. I've tried diverting a hose in the engine bay as the fuel system is pressurised, but it only gives me a spit and then stops. I'm unable to turn the engine over as my collision has pierced the oil coolers. Any suggestions welcome, Simon.

Is this repairable??
The assessor reckons I haven't damaged the chassis at all, all superficial at the front as the Corsa I hit went up over the top. Prices he was quoting for the parts were terrifying though, £247 per light, £700+ for the bumper etc. If I fix it I'm on the scrounge for some cheaper second hand parts. Thanks for your reply Scoops, lessens the feeling of depression knowing there's someone out there. My insurance company won't give me a courtesy car until they know who's to blame, and require the third party details. The police accident centre don't have the full details yet, as the WPC hasn't filed her report so I have to wait on that. Pressure coming from my new job as well, so things don't look to rosy at the mo. I've got to find some way of getting in to work and back. :( Cheers anyway, Simon.

Is this repairable??
Assessor has advised he will be recommending C or D class write off. I haven't let them take it away, but am still not sure if I should try and get it fixed. Now got the bonnet open but no pics as yet. Everything has been shoved back to the engine, but I am unable to see any actual damage to the engine itself. Left hand wing definately needs replacing as front point totally folded over. Right hand side has a slight crease where the front has been pushed back against the wheel. What would you do/recommend?

Puts your own worries and concerns into perspective doesn't it. My thoughts are with his family at this time, Simon.

Write off???
Well guys been advised they are going to write off the car. Just need to find out to what level of write off and whether I can keep it. If I can, I'm going to strip the front to see how in-depth the damage is, and then decide if I'm going to attempt a rebuild or start breaking it further. Hopefully I can squeeze as much dosh out of them as possible.Just have to wait and see who's to blame, who's to pay and how much. Simon.

Write off???
Not one of those night time in the street bodyshops?? If I stand on it, I'm likely to damage the plenum engine and all... I'll give it a go though tomorrow, and thanks, Simon.

Write off???
Thanks for your comments guys. Plenty of mods to go on, just hasn't happened yet. I don't think it's damaged the chassis or suspension, the car came up over the top of the nose as I was braking hard when I went into it. I have been told by my son who was in the back that he thinks I was doing fifty when I hit them. I have no idea what speed they had got up to, it was such a surprise them arriving in my lane like that. I suppose you could say a thirty to forty mile an hour collision. My wife, two kids and I have got whiplash, as did the two occupants of the other car. They went off in an ambulance, we went down ourselves a bit later as we all began to stiffen up. I'm waiting to see what happens with the police, as there were a number of witnesses who seemed most hostile to us. The road is a forty mile an hour zone and given the space we probably would have gone a bit faster still, but as I was only just starting to accelerate as an MPV had just pulled out of my way and the road is up a fairly steep hill, I just appeared to be going faster due to better acceleration. I'll keep you informed on what happens. Managed to persuade them to come out and look at the car here. Get the results for that lunch time tomorrow. Anyone any idea how to pop a bonnet that's buckled shut. I can then get a better look underneath and see how bad it is? Cheers Guys, Simon.

Write off???
Help needed please.Hope you guys have some good advice? Feeling really low and pi55ed off. Had my standard wheels nicked out of my garage about two weeks ago, one of which belonged to Jeff, (motor insurance say its covered by home insurance, and home won't cover motor parts!!), and to round it off, a corsa pulled out in front of me from a right hand lane across the central reservation into the fast lane of the dual carriageway, and I rear-ended it big time. Buckled bonnet, radiator, oil cooler, front brace across top of radiator ( bent right to and including the wings) totally smashed fog and headlights, bumper is totally corrugated. Waiting for a response from my insurer, who have advised if it is taken away to be inspected and written off I won't get it back. Should I try and get it inspected at home (it's in my drive) and if it is beyond economical repair do I try a rebuild or break it for you hungry vultures??? If there's any knowledgable Zer in the Hemel area I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks guys, Simon.

FAO Chunk
Howzitgoing Rich, Long time no talk, my dearly beloved son ( no not the wheel cleaner ) has been taking up a lot of my time lately so I haven't been around for a while. Any news on your removal of the RLTC. No desperate panic if you haven't done it, but I don't want you waiting for money from me if it's off already. Would you believe I've just found out some b4st4rd has broken into my garage and knocked off my f'in wheels. Lowlifes. I hope the insurance will cover them. Hope to hear from you soon, Simon.

Knocking under the car

Driver's window guide nut
Following on from Jeff's instructions in the thread below [ Rattling driver's window ( fix) ], I find that the required nut has sheared off completely. Does anyone have one of these I can purchase off them? It looks like it's the "bolt part" I need, which forms a flat mushroom head in the driver's window pane, and runs in the vertical groove in the door, plus the nut. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=37841 Thanks, Simon.
