  1. yup 5.2 0-60................. needless to say i wont go trying to thrash him anytime soon
  2. just read this so i am aware with what he is buying............ now i just need to beg to borrow it
  3. http://www.lexus.co.uk/Range/gs/hybrid-technology/index.aspx This breakthrough hybrid saloon offers outstanding performance, thanks to the combination of a 3.5-litre V6 direct-injection petrol engine and a high-output electric motor. These two power sources work together in an intelligent and seamless partnership to produce acceleration that is both extraordinarily fast and effortlessly smooth. The system produces an output of 341 Bhp, rivalling that of a conventional V8 engine, but with the economy of a 2.0-litre petrol engine. maybe he is right.......... except....... this one says 0-60 in around 6 seconds as opposed to 5.2 from the dealer that mentioned it
  4. i just spoke to my dad and he said that he was told the car is a GS450 but a 3.5 litre........ i did say to him everyone else said 2.o litre but he is adament it is 3.5 litre one... do you think garage is telling him porkies? you can tell my father knows bugger all about engines and i wonder if they are calling his bluff?
  5. cool i will let him know as this is his first lexus... not sure which one exactely he has all i know is it is around £44k but he got the main dealer to knock off £10k so maybe it is this model or the older one....... surely they would not knock 10k off a new car unless it is older? either way i hope he likes it and it serves him well. i will find out exactely which one it is
  6. ill keep an eye out for you on the forum search. :)
  7. my mums old BM started doing this (i know it may be completely different) however for her when it happened the car did not start but made a grinding noise when using starter moter. she tried a few times then resorted to leaving the hand brake off, disengaged the clutch and rocked the car but i cant remember completely..... then the car had no grinding and started...... did not do it for months however her trick worked everytime was thinking a tooth was missing or something as the teth can quite often land on the same spot causing wear and tear give it a try as you have nothing to lose.... hopefully something works
  8. anybody know what these are like? my dad just payed up the deposit for a new one and he mentioned it is a hybrid but does 0-60 in around 5 seconds.. he is generaly not the racing type and had bought a new prius on launch... he looked at the new prius coming out however he said he wanted this as it looked better and as lexus are known for reliability (he says) so he decided on this only problem is he will never accelerate the car to its ability and never drive hard and now wonders if it is worth buying? he has asked me but i have never been involved with the world of lexus so i am unaware of their history or reliability thought i would ask you guys on his behalf... are these cars good and reliable and for a hybrid, is this a good choice? honest answers welcome... . i don't like it however i must say for a hybrid i am still blown away at the performance for the 0-60 and would wonder what
  9. correct me if i am wrong as i also believe this is the speed sensor however a member i know on here also had the same problem and luckily for him he slightly over filler the power steering and all was good.... unfortunately this is not the case for me but i still have the problem... but maybe you could also give it ago? My Hicas was disabled via a locking bar however the hicas system was not also disabled so my car still tries to access the hicas (i think anyway) hopefully more people will give their opinions soon
  10. please guys i'm desperate if i change the oil and the sensors do you reckon i will see a whole new gearbox? also, does anyone sell a rev sensor and a gearbox fluid temp sensor?
  11. got a text from santa saying to fill her up before i go anywhere to save it going bang..... shame i am in work car park and have no oil on or near me :-( looks like the bus home XD please can anyone give me information regarding the top of this post? i am getting very deserate now especially as the box is mucking about
  12. just noticed today a huge puddle of brown fluid on the floor that looks like it came round the areas closer the the middle of the car (behind the engine) i'm guessing my gear box is giving up the ghost? no other puddles anywhere else.. seems to only of happened as i done the gearbox check where i had to change the gears alot (took 5 attempts to start getting the codes)
  13. Ok. Just done a AUTO box diagnostic test. The sequence looks like this ___ _ ___ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ it says the long flash is not to be counted as it is the start of the sequence but I get a long flash then 1 short flash followed by another long flash and 8 smaller flashes. I have gathered that this must mean it is telling me two faults. If so then according to the code checker it means 1st fault: Revolution sensor 2nd fault: Gearbox Fluid Temperature sensor how can I fix these and would this be the cause of my car stop pulling when I boot it at high speeds… (older posts of mine) which I believed were a boost fault as between 60 – 90 the car stops pulling for a second then resumes to pull for a bit longer before doing the same. I presume something could be slipping even though it is fine under full boost and throttle up until that point. What do you think and what do I need to do to my box? Cheers all
  14. cool :-) i'm really getting excited. should hopefully learn a bit more about engine and know where everything is in the bay aswell :-)
  15. also.... will my paint job last a year or so with the car in the garage? should i clean and was it before putting it away and re clean and wax it regulary?
  16. might aswell do it earlier i guess and use the money :-)
  17. no i have not asked yet as only made decision to take car off road to rebuild today. just deciding on if i should do it before tax running out in two days or before MOT on end of july
  18. or i could say to diamond i am selling it... no negotiations needed then
  19. hmmmm. i did also think this but it may take me a year or more. if they do not offer to hold it and i cannot use their service then would i have an argument in court? surely if i am not using a product i should not be paying it?
  20. 23. fully comp with diamond.... unfortunately that is inclusive of my wifes 10 years no claim
  21. ok so thinking of rebuilding the car. we paid 1500 quid for insurance out right a few months ago... one plan was to cancel it and even though i will get charged for cancelling i.e fees and administration charge whatever money i do get left can go to the car rebuild fund. looking at insurances it seems some allow you to refund money after fees and charges... looks like diamond don't do this... where do i stand on this? it seems there site policy says fees and charges (after the 14 day cool off) will be charged however it also is written in a way that says "no refunds whatsoever" how would this stand? i'm presuming it would look better to have my car declared broken and in need of repair for my argument? obviously if i have taken the car off the road to fix it myself this is my own fault and not diamonds. but lets say i acidently  fail an MOT and ring diamond after SORNing my car... would that hold up better for an refund excuse? any help greatly appreciated
  22. sorry.... i should have posted new however this fella has written everything i was gong to say
