  1. well i left chelmsford at about 1:30 and left gatwick around 2:30 to 3pm. so i reckon it was between 3 - 4 pm. yellow z was in middle lane when i saw it. I thought i saw a non standard rear bumper but i could have sworn it was one of those ones that drop down more so the Exhausts poke out the rear through Square cut gaps. example would be the demon rear skirt
  2. Was on our way home from gatwick airport after dropping a friend off. saw you on the M25 and you were going the opposite direction. Loved the Rear Bumper and as you were yellow you stood out from ALL the other cars on the motorway (even though it was busy) NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!
  3. thanks again matey. will get pictures of the whole progress and (hopefully) write what i do so others can do it this way (should they choose to)
  4. i will try your way then until i am left with the box.. then hopefully i can climb in engine bay and pass box over to a helping hand
  5. i had a lucky break.... last Friday had a barbecue party that lasted 7 hours till about 1:30am. We were all passing the Singstar microphone along and been in close contact with each other. One of my friends sister who mentioned feeling unwell at the berbeque has now been confirmed with swine flu after feeling crap since and is now on the tamiflu at home. After Friday i started to feel a bit uneasy and by wednesday i still had a head ache and sore throat. Head ache has gone and sore throat and tiredness still here however temperature was 36.5 which is about normal.. it's either i had a lucky escape or i am a carrier :-O
  6. may i ask though.. i want to change auto box to manual at some point before going back on the road. is it possible to do this method but with getting the auto box out? i imagine it would be easier to take box off first so i can sell and put towards funds :-) then get to stripping the engine
  7. ok well i can see alot of members saying "take it all out" but i am in no rush and this way will enable me to do it all myself :-) i will get a move on starting this job asap and take pictures as i go through the year
  8. Do you mean you took the engine apart with it still in bay? If so then that sounds cool. Considering the time I have I can do it whatever way :)
  9. cool!!! now i have a basic plan :)
  10. ok so best thing is to leave can on the wheels in the garage. unbolt and remove all parts i need to, drain fluids etc. then once its all done hire engine pulley. roll car outside (garage roof low) place on jack stands. Drop gearbox underneath then start removing engine half way out and remove then rest of the plumbing. then remove engine and place on stand. and take car of stands, roll back into garage and then thats that. that ok? i know im not clear but i am trying to see how i do it with hardly any room in the garage. cheers for all your help :) nice one
  11. will do :-) can anyone else also advise wether i can remove gearbox with car up on stands? i dont have a ramp and so wondering what would be the best way to remove gearbox first then engine when i get round to hiring a engine hoist for a day. i have also been told a seat belt makes a very good strap when pulling the engine?
  12. gonna start clearing the garage this weekend followed by cleaning the car and waxing it then storing it. I will then start following the engine removal guide on this site. my only gripe is the lack of space i have. i was thinking of reversing the car in the garage (single) so it is a bit tight but i have access to the front of the car. When it comes to removing the engine do i need to have the car raised? i was thinking of disconnecting everything then rolling car forward when it comes to removing the engine. my only problem is i will be declaring it SORN until it goes back on the road. do you think i will get away with pulling it out of the garage for one day to remove engine then pushing car back in? i will be buying a Metal shed big enough to fit the engine in and myself around it to work on. also.. i have aftermarket suspension so will i need to keep it raised the entire length that the car is off road? reason i ask as it might be a year and a half till it is back on road and dont want suspension to bugger up. cheers for any feedback
  13. ok peeps, i have not been on as much as my water pipe has split on my car. i have decided to pull the car off the road this year and towards next spring i will start rebuilding the whole engine and replacing parts like loom etc. i will also be upgrading to reach about 500bhp. My time at the moment is going on my studies as i am studying my certificates for A+, N+, MCDST, Security+, MCSA and MCSE. i have also started taking up Krav Maga and i must say... it is awesome for self defense on the street.. highly recommend this for anyone who wants to learn self defense on a more practical scale. anyway i will pop on now and again however for the mean time i will be studying hard to get somewhere in life and hopefully get a better job to afford my engine rebuild and upgrades for the rest of the cars life. i will keep in touch and will show everyone my car once it is back on the road and a whole new car. Damien
  14. funnily enough my birth day is on the 6t of December.... 6 6 6 if you share the month number by half ;)
  15. same matey... i always find it good to see another damien.... makes me feel better that we have not died out completely...... yet! :hyper:
  16. ok the car is going to go into the garage this week. buying some stands this week. should i empty the radiator? should i leave some weight on the suspension to stop it stressing? how does one go about cheaply leaing their garage warm? i have a plain garage unpowered and worried about winter. I don't mind sending an extention down their however what form of heating could i use that would hold out 24/7 and not cost too much to buy? cheers all
  17. i really want to do this however............. cannot buy the premium again like i did on release date. i use continues play for PS3 and pay a set amount per month so that should anything go wrong they HAVE to give me a premium console again (they confirmed) however i will lose that right if i install a different HD needless to say i will be sticking with original (full) HD :-(
  18. brilliant :) would it be best if i place the car on jacks aswell? the garage is a normal house garage so should i also put a blanket of some sort over the car? last but not least i did an oil change 2 months ago with new sparks. i read somewhere to take spark plugs out and sqirt 10ml of oil in each top.... is that over doing it? cheers again
  19. looking to take the car off the road to rebuild engine and study harder in courses relating to work.... is there anything i need to prepare the engine before storing for long periods to ensure the engine does not sieze? was thinking of placing her in the garage for next 6- 12 months (maybe a bit longer) all info would be greatly appreciated. cheers
  20. thanks bud. i know its going to be frustrating and in a way i am greatful my car is still driving after 20 years. it does does its just with the pipes and gearbox filter overdue a replacement i dont want to risk it :-) either way unlike my old zed i have made a pledge to stick with this one and no matter what.... i will be the last owner it has cheers
  21. i know.... damn car! well i will have to find a pipe kit and then get it fitted. then i will have to get the pipework done properly as my vacuum pipes which had boost jets in run straight to the actuators!! boost solenoids are disconnected, mileage clock stopped working, need new O2 sensor, need gearbox filter changed, luckily i had help from someone local when servicing my car however i still have 5 injectors to wire into the car and also the cambelt kit i bought to fit. looks like i might need to SORN my car and just bite the bullet and rebuild it. but for now i will just get the water pipes fixed to see what else might go wrong :-( i guess the last owner outsmarted me and knew the right time to get rid of it and unfortunately as i was struggling to find a zed that i MUST have i just could not help myself but to take this one..... lesson learnt i guess
  22. i have not driven it incase it is either not filled enough or overfilled. once i find a way of measuring the dipstick accurately then i will test it. santa did say it looks like i have overdone it but not by anything horrific however my car is on a drive with a very very very slight incline and so it could go up more if my car gets level. will my gear box make any noises being overfilled? how will i tell apart from the dipstick if i have over topped it?
  23. i have gone to see a 300zx mechanic and it is the hardest pipe to get to at the back of the engine :( luckily he can do the labour once i get a water hose pipe kit. :)
  24. unfortnately no one sold any chalk WTF??????? looked in most shops around town...... :S anyway santa will be round soon to try and help :)
  25. nope not there :(
