What a car R390 GT1
I am secretly making fibreglass replicas of Johns wheels so I can keep the originals for myself....shhh...don't tell him! :D It'll look a lot more, er..."Grrrr" when the mahoosive light recesses are cut and shaped, the round lights are set in, and the front splitter and canards are attached. Well, hopefully anyway! :D Had a bit of a break from the fibreglass work (due to ghey health  :)) but starting to get back into it again now...I'm even going to be designing and making the air boxes for our V8 conversions :D (with the ever knowledgeable Senor Dixon supplying the all important figures I have to work with of course ;))

What a car R390 GT1
One of my favorite cars. I liked it so much I started making an R390 inspired bumper for the Z32...when I finally have my nice heated indoor garage/workshop (not long now thank Christ! :)) I might even finish the b@stard thing...;) Here's the first mould, looking distictly rough and ready, without light scoops and in need of a fettling before the final mould (since I made a slight miscalculation regarding the width...ahem... :D An easy fix but still ruddy annoying  )

Daft Carputer power question
Cheers chap, much appreciated! 4.6 block....nice :D Would've loved to have gone the V8 route in mine but I imagine the swap into a 90 is torturous and I can't afford the petrol consumption at the mo. Breaking his Disco you say...hmmm...has he sold the engine, transfer box or the rear axle with disc brakes yet? ;)

A-ha! I have run the dogsh1te gauntlet in the dark and have returned bearing confusing gifts! JD, check your phone :D ;) Cheers Mario, looks good. Will get back to you about it ASAP if that's ok chap? :)

Daft Carputer power question
Lol! :D Remember we talked about it but don't think you left it here mate...? Then again, maybe you did, you know what I'm like at remembering things! :D BTW, if you want a laugh call me today or tomorrow...I've virtually lost my voice and sound like a muppet Marlon Brando...

Daft Carputer power question
Right, thanks. Ok, well I've mailed the seller to ask his opinion as well so hopefully I'll soon know what ampage it needs (it's all Double Dutch to me!). I'm being cautious as i really don't want to fry it accidentally!

Daft Carputer power question
Ok, sounds promising, PM the make/model if it's easier chap :) BTW, any thoughts on the above question re: powering it off the mains?

Daft Carputer power question
Not sure of the complete spec but it's listed as an Intel 1Ghz processor. I've just emailed the seller to double check as I went for the upgraded option (normally it's supplied with an 850Mhz processor). If you think the power supply will be compatible I'd be very interested chap! What make and spec is it? Here's a list of what I'm running: Case has: * PS2 Mouse port * PS2 Keyboard port * VGA video * 9pin Serial * Parallel * USBx2 * Network/ethernet * Microphone, speaker and headphone And comes with: *256mb RAM *80gb hard disk *1Ghz CPU *Customised Media Engine screen/desktop/booting screen *FM sound transmitter, wired into PC's power supply *Wireless USB *DVD drive *GPS device *Powered USB hub

Daft Carputer power question
LMAO@ the "She Wee"!! My delicate countenance is visibly appalled Mark. She's an '86 LR 90 (with proper suspension...and I use that term loosely as it's one of the things that could do with upgrading...it's a bit of a bone rattler at the moment!) with no signs of the dreaded rot but a replacement TD engine that could do with an overhaul (despitwe being a new block only 3 years old now. That's TD's for you...). However, I have a nice 200TDi Disco engine sat folornly in the workshop crying out to be fitted...which should give it a bit more poke, especially on the motorway (top speed is 73mph on a downhill stretch with a good wind behind you...with the engine making more noise than a Luftwaffe bombing raid) and especially if I get round to fitting a full width cooler and tweaking the fuel pump...anyone got a cheap full width IC they don't want? :D ;) Oh, and I'm painting her satin black, as the exterior is a bit shoddy, with el cheapo "truck" paint...hence my post in the For Sale section looking for a spray gun! :) Funny you should mention a snorkel...just bought one of these and about to chop it up and fit a custom housing with an in-built cone filter! Then hopefully ask Leon if he'll make a copy of the customised snorkel that's actually well made (the welding on the original is bloody appalling!)

Daft Carputer power question
LMAO!  :D Sssshhhhh....don't tell anyone, but it's going in the Landy... It even has a magickal (with a definate "k") GPS goblin which means I'll never have to get lost, wander into a hick town and massacre the inhabitants again. Maybe. P.S. The divining rod I can do, the tampons I can steal...but the "She Wee"...? Actually, on second thoughts I don't want to know...

Daft Carputer power question
After years of prevaricating on the subject of carputers, I've finally got one sitting in front of me. Being a bit of a Luddite when it comes to electrickery, I have to ask the following question: I want to power it up to install everything that needs installing and to generally check everything is ship shape. I'd like to do this out of the car as the cage mount I'm making isn't finished yet. It came with a cigarette socket adapter to power it, set to 19V...Is it safe to use a standard AC/AC adapter (output 9VAC) to power it up from the mains socket? If not, what do I need to get to be able to plug it into the mains? Cheers, Leigh.

Spray Gun...?
Cheers for the advice Pete, taken down and inwardly digested old chap :) JD and I are currently using a HUGE ex-dental compressor round at my gaff for the V8 builds. Have no idea of the size but I'm 99.9% sure it'll be more than up to the job. Re: the truck paint (as it's known by the owner of Jawells who sold it to me, lol :D) and the "painting window": TBH, I'm not overly worried about either. And that's not me being flippant (well, maybe a leeeetle bit....just to wind you up of course ;)). If it goes t1ts up on the landrover it's not the end of the world. However, I'm only working on a panel at a time and working on them off the car in a thrown together heated lean-to affair so the weather issue shouldn't be a problem and, worst case scenario: I flat it back and start again with a little bit more experience behind me. Plus, I'm an artistic genius (think Francis Bacon with more pharmaceutical drugs and better hair), so no doubt I'll pick it up fairly quickly....:D ;)

Spray Gun...?
About to have a crack at spraying my Land Rover 90 (considered quite a fancy thing to do in LR circles as most guys use a roller! :D). Although Stevie007 has kindly offered to lend me his gun (will hopefully be calling tomorrow mate if you're reading this! :)) I'd eventually like to buy my own. Not knowing anything about them, does anyone have any recommendations for types/makes of gun, what to look for and a rough guide to new/second hand prices? I've just bought a gallon of the cheapest satin black "truck paint" from Jawells (along with thinners, etch primer and primer to go with it), so I've got plenty to practise with on the spare bonnet I have lying about in the workshop! Cheers, Leigh

International Space Station
Good stuff. Now all they need to do is get their arses into gear and build an elevator up to it! Which isn't as daft as you might first think...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_elevator

Although I'm not so sure about the orange myself, here's a few more different shades that might help you decide:

Good (but reasonably priced!) gauges?
So...no one has any recommendations for good but reasonably priced gauges? If anyone has a set they're thinking of selling I'd also be interested in second hand items. Cheers, Leigh.

Your very favourite photo of a Z
It's a cracker isn't Mark. Got a whole folder of race spec Z's (Jap and US mostly...including a few insane quarter mile warriors  ;)) but this Steve Millen Z32 always stands out. I'm one of those weird people that actually prefer the elongated shape of the 2+2 over the "stubby" :D

- Ebay Z32 Drift Car
My friend in Japan sponsors the only 4wd drift car (unofficial entrant) in the championships (http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=88058)...if you can drift one of those, you can drift anything...there is no reason why the Z can't be a good drift car with the right set-up. Agree with Legrath whole heartedly. - Ebay Z32 Drift Car
