I looked at storing a couple of bikes a while back, and contacted most of the big storage companies and they all said the same, no fuel, no oil. As for costs as they work on cubic feet, it would not be cheap. If you are talking about four years storage (presuming you would make a loss of 7 grand by selling your car (5k) and buying one out there (12k) ) you are looking at finding storage for less than £145 a month before it even starts to make sense. The other option is specialist storage, which you will find on a search, but again 15-30 quid a week. And none of the above takes into account transporting it after the four years are up. What about exporting to the states, registering it there and driving it into canada?

You can store them in most places, but you have to remove all fluids, oil, petrol etc. And long term it will cost you. Would be easier and cheaper to find a family member or friend with a spare garage, that way someone can do the basics of turning it over, rotating the wheels etc.

  11. I would like to nominate myself for this post, seconded by Baggins and Herman Munster.
  12. Am planning to have the plenum off mine this weekend, may try this, along with the water by-pass and the pcv valves. I know you can do all that with the plenum on, but I am a lazy sod :)
  13. there is no ecusing some peoples idea of entertainment. I think James has the right idea, read the good book and repent your sins :D
  14. Hope everything is ok with your dog mate.
  15. I dont know, I post up a simple self evaluation, leave for a bit, come back and all hells broken loose. Tut tut.
  16. No mate, with haggis having one set of legs shorter than the other (to enable them to run clockwise round steep mountains) what you do is chase them anti-clockwise, and they fall over, then you just club 'em, and then smoke them :)
  17. Nah mate, just leaving a message for someone :) And you dont sniff haggis mate, you smoke it :D
  18. I have lots of friends on this forum, mates if you will. I have helped lots of those friends and even some I dont know with mechanical work and have recieved the same in return. But, knowing that a man gets judged by the company he keeps, I judge my "mates" as harshly as I judge others, and stand to be judged myself. I dont do sniper work from behind an alias, or ask other peoples questions for them. Nuff said ??
  19. whats, if any, is the difference between changing a head gasket that has been wired to changing a standard gasket? Also any guidance/ clues/ experience of using thicker head gaskets? Cheers in advance
  20. pete mine was 15" by 3 1/2" , just a little bit bigger than the front face on the bumper

I would take from "free running" that it would have enough clearance that the pistons wouldnt strike the head, but I wouldnt bet on it having had the head off.
  24. Nelson, I too turn up to most meets on my own, and I have only been a member here just over a year. The carry-on that goes on here is not personal and I have never known it to spill over into a real life meet, everyone realises that the board is two dimensional. Most of the posts here would be minimal if carried out over the phone. Apart from the piss take ones :)
