Is this 300 genuine 98?
Ask him what the registration number is, and it will state the year on the vin plate.

ohms test on the idle valve
They claim to be not the usual ebay cheapies, so time will tell, i will order one next week and see how i goes. According to Mike (MJP) maf no longer available and the patent ones he looked into were too unreliable, so there is going to come a point in years to come that either they will be like gold dust and worth a fortune or there will eventually be a reliable patent.

Ok we might be getting somewhere, here is a pic of the board on a UK speedo clock Check yours and we may be able to assess whether someone put a UK facia on a Jap speedo or not, a Jap speedo has 2 potentiometers/blue trim pots

strange one!?
No problem bud, we are here to help :thumbup1: -Ok, if you have a genuine set of UK clocks, then you do not need a speedo convertor and if you are using a set which you believe to be UK clocks and limit is not removed then as Jaff stated they are probably Jap clocks with UK faces. Before i need to go and post up some pics of the differences lol, does the speed read 30mph on the clocks with a sat nav?

strange one!?
What inline block convertor? There are 4 plugs on the back of UK clocks the same as Jap, nothing else attached. Unless it had a speedo convertor

You dont need H3C if you are going for HID, so get that out of your head now  H3 as Jeff posted and you are sorted

ohms test on the idle valve
I ohmed all my inejctors, , replaced injector on cyl 3, but injector 5 was my issue even though it is within spec. I decided to get a needle file and redo the terminals on the injector and the plug and its now running fine, may be worth checking again, even though no corrosion may be visible the terminals still get tarnished, which seemed to prevent a strong signal.

ohms test on the idle valve
How much :lol:, well im taking a punt on new one for £70 from a company on ebay, only because they have a 12 month warranty, so if it doesnt work i can send it back  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HIGH-QUALITY-NISSAN-SR20DET-CA18DET-KA24DET-80mm-AIR-FLOW-METER-UPGRADE-ON-SALE-/161049514772?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3A300+ZX&hash=item257f4c9314 Or from Aus you have these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300zx-Z32-80mm-AFM-MAF-Air-Flow-Meter-22680-30P00-with-plug-/290954628726?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43be3f4e76

Are they though?

strange one!?
The convertor tricks the ecu into thinking its going slower therefore removing the 112mph limit, fitting UK clocks should do the same thing as the resistor in the back of the speedo board is at the correct ohmage. The rev limiter however can only be lifted with a socketed ecu and new chip.

headlight bulbs. ......
You can buy just the replacement hid bulbs on ebay and use the existing ballasts as they are standard fitment, just make sure the bulb output matches the ballast capability, ie: if the ballasts have a limit of 35w, then dont buy 55w, however if you have 55w, then you could use either.

Hi Leeroy, you might be getting confused with which bulb goes where, but t clarify, your dipped beam H3C for Jap and H3 for UK car, main beam is H1, which has he carrier/convertor. The HID kits: H3 will fit both models as you dont need to do an earth mod as you would if replacing with normal H3C bulb. H3 has the notch and half circle
-
strange one!?
If it has been converted correctly ( may not be by the sounds of it lol) you only need to re join the yellow/green feed back to the tail left going into the left hand plug, as you look at the dash. Fitting HIDS shouldnt affect anything else lol, so youve got an earth short somewhere, did you disturb any of the wires to the plugs behind the headlights, sat on the inner wheel arch, these are for the autobox.

ohms test on the idle valve
Not sure that the ecu runs on a preset figure when the maf is disconnected, although the reading from the idle air valve would be irrelevent as there is no measured air coming in that the ecu can read. It sounds like your maf is goosed like mine lol Also disconnect the battery for an hour or so to reset the ecu, it may sill be running on old settings if not cleared.

headlight bulbs. ......
Thats correct H1 have a single blade, the bulb is held in place by a carrier, which is why it looks different, so take out the carrier and unplug the bulb, simples!
