Well nearly finished, got a couple of bits of wiring to do, fill with water and fit the clutch hose, then fingers crossed. Here are some pics of the work done today: One piece lightweight prop and the rest of the engine bits Tidied the temp sensor wires and re routed and relocated the PTU under the headlamp panel, to make it look cleaner. Going to replace, some hoses and clips with new once ive got it going again.

Hi Mate, its above where the clutch pedal would sit, right up in the dash. You may need to take out some of the heater ducting to get to it, on your back lol.

Hi and welcome to the club. The water may be leaking from one of the numerous useless pipes coming out of the rear of the plenum, there are only 2 hoses out of the rear of the engine to the heater matrix, it could be possible its also one of these, but you dont need to take the gearbox out to get to them. Looking at the Ad, its would be fair to say that it needs a bit of work, but not a bad price for the supposed bhp and mods. If you are not mechanical minded i would take a hard look at what really needs doing otherwise you will spend that again getting it right. The front bumper has seen better days, i would take someone with you who knows the cars well enough to know what to look for. The electric fags are similar to what you describe, you have a nicotine gel pack in the filter part, the white stick of the fag is charged by a usb and houses the evaporator and when you take a drag, you get the hit of the vapor on the back of the throat and you exhale vapor.

Cheers Lee, there are also some secret blue leds lurking around too and under the throttle cover, should look nice all lit up, still a lot of work to do, but im further forward than this time last year lol

Update: engine out and cleaned engine bay, got the plate off the bulkhead to reveal the holes for the clutch master cylinder to fit. Fitted the new clutch Fitting the clutch pedal was a complete arse, had to remove the heater ducting and the annoying reverse beep box from under the dash, then cut out the rubber. Still couldnt get the pedal in, so i had to cut about 15mm off the end of the top of the clutch pedal bracket, as there was another bracket in the way to get the extra half inch. Manual box Engine with most of the parts back on and the throttle cover finished. Engine ready to hoist in, we fitted the gearbox before we put it in the car and i have never had a grear box go on so smooth and first go. Must have aligned the clutch plate perfectly lol Engine and box in, but only resting on the subframe Just got to plumb it all back in and wire her up and good to go, fingers crossed. Ive decided im not digging the black engine bay lol, just as well im going to have the engine skins, so they can be painted yellow too.

Ahh sussed it, i should have bought a master-slave clutch kit, bummer.

Right having just done a manual conversion i have a HEL braided clutch hose, but, there is no way of getting it to fit the clutch master cylinder without some sort of adaptor. I have cut down a long banjo pipe to get it to fit, but i want the right part, what have you guys used and where to get. Many thanks Graham

Ive got an electric fag and it was ok for a few days, you still need the will power lol, but ive burnt mine out and need another one. Really good for cutting down and giving up gradually, great in a restaurant or a plane, but i still enjoy a proper ciggy.

brake sizes
I would look at getting yourself some TT calipers and discs in the future so much easier to get replacement discs and slightly better braking for the N/A, not a huge difference, but worth the upgrade.

Well i need to get the engine working by the weekend got to go to Northampton on Monday :sweatdrop: Ive taken loads of pics, but left my camera down the garage, so will have to upload them tomorrow. Today, i gave the whole engine bay a coat of smoothrite black paint to aid against future rust but also serves another purpose. Im going to install the engine bay covers, rear and wings, which will be sprayed black, but wanted to cover anything below the eyeline in black, rather than the off white it was in. Got the plate off the bulkhead to reveal the holes for the clutch, will fit that in the morning. Got the nearly all the bits off my old engine i needed to keep and put them on the new one, so tomorrow, the engine and manual box will join together in matrimony. I want it finished and running by friday night, so 2 days left lol Respray on the 29th, so still a fair bit of work to do, but im happy with the progress, i think.:mellow:

Got the engine and box out in one today, only pain was, although i drained the gearbox oil, more gushed out the back as we lifted it at an angle, managed to catch most of it, but had to jetwash the drive off ready for tomorrow. Cleaned the engine bay of grease and grime, ready to paint then hopefully new engine and box in on thurs :thumbup1: Had no major problems apart from a subframe bolt spinning, but got that welded to get it off and a new one to go back in, so far so good. Took a couple of pics with the engine in the air, would have taken more, but got covered in oil. Will take some pics of the new one going in as its nice and clean :biggrin:

Autobox idea?
I didnt say it couldnt be done, just not as simple as you probably expected. You could use a couple or series of solenoids or actuator ( like door solenoids) to move the selector electronically, just need to mount them and wire them to work how you require.

Unfortunately the auto box has a linkage to select, although once in drive, its automatic, so its not a case of wiring a few wires in to make it work.

Advice on spray gun - Groover etc
I only have a 25 litre compressor and its been fine, its about maintaining a constant pressure/air flow, the larger the better, but then you enter a higher price bracket. Yes pour the paint in the pot, then hardner, the thinners and mix thoroughly with a plastic mixing stick. I got some sticks thrown in at the paint supplier. Get a load of mixing/measuring cups, they are cheap as chips and really important to maintain the correct mix. There are loads of paint suppliers out there, i use a local paint supplier who can mix the colour i want. It depends if you want a standard colour or specific. Google auto paint supplies and go from there or ebay.
