  1. welcome, and what a car. owned since new?
  2. did you notice that me and the Stig did not appear on the stand at the same time, he only appeared on the day that i could not attend the show until the end....
  3. Was a shame Si could not attend, and unfortunately the notice was just too short for the members that I approached. I went back to the voting thread and worked my way down the results list PM'ing the members until there was only me left. Unfortunately, we just did not organise a hot standby from the results. Lesson for next year. As I was attending the show anyway, it was fine for me to bring the car, albeit completely unprepped. I am glad my car scrubbed up well enough to be presented, thanks to the bit of Joel magic, and my make shift wash routine that had Joel cowering and whimpering in the corner.. But all ended well, especially when we managed to obtain power for the polisher from the Figaro stand
  4. Sorry to hear that, and you were definitely missed. Get well soon.
  5. There were a number of clubs that were knocked back apparently, and also a few that only got allocated at the last minute like us. There was less hall space as well this year, as the pavilion was not being used. Joel and I had a discussion about this, and also discussed it with the Supra guys as well. One of the application questions relates to the number of paying members, but I think some of the clubs maybe enter the number of registered members, not necessarily if they pay subscriptions etc. Or maybe those clubs genuinely do have more paying members than us. So if there are more 'members', the organisers possibly give a bit more space because they expect more members to turn up, as more members to buy the discounted tickets. So on the next application form, I think we will use the number of registered members not subscribed members, and see where that gets us. The Supra guys are hoping for a larger stand next year for their 25th anniversary.
  6. for those who were at the Ace that remember what i feed my car on, this was the arrival pic at NEC

not sure how that works, getting a club stand? worth a try for next year if we can find out how. i have not managed to get tickets any year yet, and have tried every time
  8. a massive thank you to @joelyp for helping me clean and polish my car, as i had not had time to prep as a last minute stand in. well, i cleaned and he did the proper job of polishing once we borrowed some power from the figaro stand ;-) we are all done and ready for a rest now
  9. Arrived on site. First setup pic.
  10. i am inclined to both agree and disagree :) Where i disagree, i think the prices are on an upward trend after they hit rock bottom a few years ago. Where i agree, the rise is very slow and certainly not as far and fast as people believe. They are only a "modern classic" and not a true classic, yet. They are just not old enough and still far too many in circulation to command the price that people believe they should be at. I don't think that the average of 10k+ prices for good quality cars will be for another 10 years, until the stock has thinned out a bit, and the good ones are still good for their age. The slow rise in average prices will be that slow, in my opinion. Other than exceptional show quality or provenance proven cars which will buck the trend.
  11. that Alpine is great, but so is that Citroen who were always very innovative around that time. but those Lagondas, completely impractical and troublesome, but epitomises the 80's designs like a luxury countach  !
  12. as much as i love the show, Spain and Venice would get my vote too
  13. yes, UK zeds came with a body coloured blanking insert. Pete, does the UK boot lid definitely have any of the brake light wiring in it? I cannot recall exactly, but i thought i had to run wires up from the normal brake lights into the lid, as that part of the loom was completely missing.
  14. i recall my original uk spec zed did not have a centre brake light, so when i fitted one we had to extend the harness, so i dont believe yours would have had a centre light originally either Gary
  15. haha, look what the cat dragged in. best wishes @b19rks
  16. glad to have you along Chris
  17. first pic, first arrivals :-)
  18. at South Mimms about 8:45 with plenty of time for an Ed's Diner breakfast to kick off the day :-) bonus, bumped into Chris with the Z31 as well who also got here early for same reason i think
  19. aha, right, ok. although i dont seem to recall seeing a request thread from the forum asking you to do that. so is this more of a public service announcement from you?
  20. I do wonder at your motivation for bringing it up as a thread, rather than just report back to your third party?
  21. Been similarly warm here today too, very unseasonal. Expecting it to turn suddenly cold again Monday morning when I jump back on the bike to go to work though! Heated gloves might need to be plumbed back in again soon.
  22. Curiosity from your first post, didn't take long. I only know what I have read.
