  1. BTW the way wouldn't mind someone who could map cars, know anyone :) Maybe a swap for parts that you need ;)
  2. I know, if Janspeed weren't a bunch of idiots I'd have the turbo in by now.
  3. I have thought about it, I am happy welding but mine won't look nice and also manifolds are critical, if they welds aren't perfect they can crack so better safe than sorry.
  4. Well the old cliche- do you want the good news or the bad news??? Bad news Janspeed who were doing the exhaust manifolds have decided after having the patterns for 5 months can't do them for another 3 months :(:headvswal:rant: Not a happy bunny! This happened a few weeks ago and TBH honest I almost pulled the plug on the project as the deal they offered was unbeatable and I have almost no money left in the budget. But I had stripped out the whole turbo system, IC's, metal piping, the lot but I was determined to press on. Good news I have found another company who offered me some good advice on designing the manifolds (again :( ) so I have made version 3 and I am happy with the further improvements so today I have ordered all the stainless parts to make up the real manifolds. All I have to do it cut them and tack them together and send them off, they will weld them all together properly so a weekend of weldinng. This is a big step as once this is done I can site the turbo and sort the intercooler and piping then try starting her up.
  5. As above, also let clutter in the engine bay and weight saving.
  6. Unfortunately it is true, a customer of mine almost went belly up as the guy running the place and doing the ordering ran up huge bills and pocketed the money by the time they realised only the owners savings and some extended credit from suppliers who were told the truth saved the company. This was a well known tuner that could of gone a few years ago if the owner didn't like to save his money rather than spend it. Not saying that's what's RC's problem but one person in a responsible position that you trust can bring you down!
  7. It'll be a long read. hope your sat comfortably http://www.lancerregister.com/showthread.php?t=227297
  8. Hate to say it but the MLR forum is pointing the finger at Danny as the cause with some underhand dealings???
  9. I know on a manual conversion the starter motor needs to be spaced out with some washers but how far?
  10. I just kneel on top of the engine and reach down?? Taken two engines and put them back in like that.
  11. I did mine at the end of the shaft where the splines are as it goes into the rack, all the rest can stay attached to the subframe.
  12. I have just put the engine back in with a manual box and I am not sure if I have a bolt missing. It is at the very bottom of the box bolting (would be 6 o'clock position) it to the engine, it is at least a inch longer than the others, should there be one there or not as there are ones at 5 + 7 o'clock postions?
  13. Nope! that's it unless there is a motor problem, all manifold and turbo work can be done without touching the motor
  14. Picture 4, there is a U going on the manifold you can see which site the turbo infront and to the right of the water pump pulley. It will point fowards to where the intercooler will sit.
  15. Engines in and I am now putting all the bites back so I can check the route for the manifolds. You can see the end of them on each side, a little rusty tho but they are only templates.
  16. Thanks to Tubz for the assistance this morning and the other forum members who helped with the flywheel even after ANC lost the 1st one  So the engine is now sat in the car with the manual box, even tried the manifold templates and they fit! Loads of room down the sides, will post some pics tomorrow :duffer:
  17. You can leave it in gear but chock the wheels. With the prop mark the join in the middle so they go back together the same way. Once split it will slide out of the gearbox. This will allow you to tilt the box, that and lowering the subframe make splitting the engine and box easier and getting the engine out.
  18. Have you taken the exhaust off from where it joins in the middle section all the way to the front, take of the heat sheilds, split and remove prop (don't forget to mark the join) from gear box, undo gearbox bolts. That should keep you busy for a while :D
  19. One of my customer make the Caterham like this ! http://www.rsperformance.co.uk/technicalspecification.htm
  20. Made of fibre galss or lego bricks?? :hurl:
  21. Me to hence trying to get hold of him, Athene there is another member that I'm still waiting on parts after paying a week ago and no response to a pm, what do I do?
