  1. Can anyone indentify the wiring on the MAF plug, preferably what colour wire does what. :smash:
  2. Near the M32/M5 junction going West bound around 3.30ish
  3. Fitted the dried out maf on and took the car for a drive and it is missing and lumpy so I think the maf has had it, the spare hasn't arrived to compare due to mr postie being slack! Think I might get one anyway, how about this one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160372327967&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
  4. Well made the decision and it was one of the hardest I've made. Told the guys today I'm going, they couldn't offer any extra :( so start 4th Jan
  5. Could well be, was the check engine light on? I booted mine going up a hill, there was a pop and everything died wouldn't run or idle, hose had popped off.
  6. In that case I think I'll call audi tomorrow to cancel mine!
  7. That would be good as I have so much going on at the moment I haven't got time to get to you. I guess I can compare how it runs with both on, if better with yours then I will change it, if the same then she needs a run to clean it out after the floofing and standing.
  8. A few weeks ago after enjoying the car for two days I parked it on the drive next door to say getting the ramps out to put it in the garage. The intention was to get some video of a tunnel run and some rapid driving so everyone could hear the single turbo. The sunday morning came after a night of rain and I went out and the car started and ran for about 30 seconds but struggled, belched out smoke and died and wouldn't restart at all!! Anyway after much searching the problem was the MAF, it had filled with water somehow and I mean the box section with all the electrics in. It's spent the last week drying out in the house, I put it back on today and the car started after 2-3 turns and runs ok with the occasional back fire. My question is will the water damaged the maf or will it be ok? I assume maybe the back fire is due to the fact its been stood outside in the wet for 2 weeks and needs a drive especially as the engine was flooded or could the maf be not quite right? I have had a few replies about buying a maf but don't want to if it's not needed.
  9. Which would you choose? Pros Will be at home 7 days a week instead on 3 and saving 1200 a year on rent living away. Can spend more family time at home Basic salary 1k less than current with commision but can earn up to 3k bonus/year Pension Cons No company car so will have to buy one. Enjoy current job and would dread telling the boses I'm leaving Had over ten years experience in current role so leaving comfort zone and selling new product but still in automotive.
  10. Looks like an EVO spoiler to me.
  11. I spoke with Jeff last week about an issue and suggested using two small speaker spade connectors for this.
  12. Should be ok then but wanted to check incase they were standard jobbies, the liner should be pale grey. Without they will fail
  13. By the way, the black silicone hose for the oil drain, does it have the special fluoro silicone liner or is it a standard one? Very important question!
  14. I say get the pipes off Gonzo, the braided hose is probably epdm which is only suited upto 120-130C so next to a manifold will fail I would think.
  15. Silicon jobbies far more reliable than oe hoses.
  16. The look after 25 F2 cars for a starters!!
  17. No problem mate, always happy to help with that, hope it comes good soon. I know how frustrating a long build is and mine still isn't finished or sorted properley yet!!
  18. I was down there two weeks ago with work as we supply them, you'll have fun!
  19. So far yes, it's a rolling competition as there are a few projects under construction.
  20. Apart from the rebuild which had to be done, the turbo and pipework has cost less than a grand as I did most of the work myself. Anyway once the engine is run in and a trip to Mr Dixon the boost will go from a current 11psi to 14psi for another 500 miles and then who knows... and don't worry it's going to be a big bhp monster ;)
  21. Just bedding in my engine before I up the boost from the current 11psi so won't be long before I'm ready for a power run!!!!
  22. Oh yes!!! Was just about to pm you, the only thing I've done was rewire the ABS so it works, take off cruise control and change the filter so assume it was the filter!
  23. I have still had trouble with the car running which has been very frustrating :headvswal Basically up yo 3500 revs the car reall struggled and then once the turbo spooled up it went well but it was very hard to get to that point. The worry was a chip wasn't going to work and I would need stand alone management which although a long term plan is out of my budget at the moment. Whilst working on the car to address the overheating issue I had the airfilter off for more room when working, ran the car up to temp to check on the heat issue but while moving about the car I was surprised at the force of suction into the inlet. Originally I had two smaller cotton gauze filters for a twin intake but then took one off when that system wouldn't work, so on reving the car the engine revved freely? So I still had the big filter in the garage which I was going to use before the twin intake idea so got an intake hose made in work and fitted the filter Friday and took her for a spin.... OMG, no hesitation at all, ran really well up to the point the turbo kicks in at 3600 and then the turbo kicks in.... and pulls.... and pulls.....and pulls still going at 6500k.....:hyper::dance::nana2: Then the gear change and the external wastegat chatter and twin valves... pure driving sex :p
