A few weeks ago after enjoying the car for two days I parked it on the drive next door to say getting the ramps out to put it in the garage. The intention was to get some video of a tunnel run and some rapid driving so everyone could hear the single turbo. The sunday morning came after a night of rain and I went out and the car started and ran for about 30 seconds but struggled, belched out smoke and died and wouldn't restart at all!!
Â
Anyway after much searching the problem was the MAF, it had filled with water somehow and I mean the box section with all the electrics in. It's spent the last week drying out in the house, I put it back on today and the car started after 2-3 turns and runs ok with the occasional back fire.
Â
My question is will the water damaged the maf or will it be ok? I assume maybe the back fire is due to the fact its been stood outside in the wet for 2 weeks and needs a drive especially as the engine was flooded or could the maf be not quite right?
Â
I have had a few replies about buying a maf but don't want to if it's not needed.
