Clear Seal
If you do want some sealant still then, get Locktite windscreen sealant from Halfords. That's the best stuff you'll get from there.

ZED Vs Lambo Gallardo
I'll bet the Lambo owner had the shock of his life when he could hardly loose the Zed haha

Warning - Wheel refurbs in Bristol
An update. I have had the wheels back in my possession for about a week and a half. The finished articles are better than they were, although the outer rim is hardly what I would call polished. The inner rim of one wheel looks like part of it was painted with a frigging brush. I only paid him 1/2 the quoted price in the end. Anyway, I had tyres put on it yesterday afternoon. The guy at protyre inflated them all to 35psi. So about 3 hours ago when I went to put them on the car I thought why is one wheel feeling really soft - because its now at 22psi. I took it upon myself to borrow next doors inflatable kiddies paddling pool so I could submerge the wheel in water. Surprise surprise it's not Protyre's fault with the tyre fitting. It leaks from 8 of the bolts that hold the split rim together. This fooking c**t at wheelstyles needs his face blowing off with a 12 guage.

Vinyl wrapping a car.
Anyone seen this? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135662 Check out the video of the loverly german gal having her porsche covered in olive drab here Looks pretty crazy. What I'm thinking though is if we can find a source for the 3M vinyl that's used here in blighty then use it to cover the roof bars in gloss black? Sure a few people on here might be interested. This stuff lasts for about 4 years or so and does not damage the paint!

Respray?
Don't try it. I was in the spraybooth pretty much all last week and I still fooked up. I know how paint works etc as I've been airbrushing for about 2 years, but spraying bigger stuff is only recent i.e. 2 months in the new job. Ended up with a massive run on a sharp edge. Once doing it frequently the techniques and the knack do start to kick in. How much are you thinking your outlay will be? I'll put some prices down on all the bit's I would use. Enviroment: Gonna need to have about 4 foot clearance around all 4 sides of car at least. Also gonna need to have some kind of extraction because without, clearcoat creates a massive heavy fog. Needs to be bloody clean. If a nosey neighbour catches you just venting clouds of spray dust out the garage door and reports it you'll be in trouble. (I think it's illegal to spray a car at home) Air supply Gonna need 100litre tank minimum with a high >12cfm rating. It needs to supply the gun and the air mask. Airlines and connectors. Personal Protection: Full face visor air fed mask. Isocyanates are the 'hardener' for the paint basically. They are really dangerous. Seriously. They absorb just as much through your eyes as your lungs. Not forgetting your skin as well. Those paper suit overall things. Nitrile gloves. Paint: Don't even think about 1k paints. You need 2k (mix hardener in). So, you'll need 2k primer. Some basecoat which can be 1 or 2k. Lastly some 2k clearcoat. Now having found out the difference it makes you really want to make sure you use the manufacturers recommended thinners/additives etc. You can't just thin the paint with any old stuff. Different brands and types of paint each spray differently too, so you got to learn laying each one down. For example this is what I have acquired for when I've gotten round to finishing some projects. Glasurit 285-91 High Solids Grey Primer Glasurit 352-91 Normal Reducer Glasurit 929-55 Fast Hardener Glasurit Sealer Nexa Autocolor 2k Basecoat - Cobalt Green Pearl :) Nexa Autocolor P210-796 Normal Hardener Nexa Autocolor P850-1693 Mid temp Reducer PPG Deltron D800 Clear PPG Deltron D803 MS Normal Hardener PPG Deltron D870 Fast Reducer PPG Deltron Flexible Additive (to mix up specifically for painting bumpers, sideskirts etc) The primer & clear I am able to er borrow it from work, but had to order the basecoat in. However to buy the above in quantities needed to paint your car you won't get much change out of £600-£700 quid. Tools: Spray gun - A good one *is* better, 'Sata' is what I've been using Mixing/measuring cups Paint strainers Gunwash - lot's of Tack rags Panel wipe All manner of sand paper. Filler Other things to consider: You going to strip the old paint to metal? Mega hard work. Most paints can be applied onto existing old sanded paint without issue. But what if the worst happens and there a reaction? back to bare metal :( There's more stuff that I've forgotten but this little lot would cost probably as much as having someone else do it, and if this post doesn't put you off then fair play to you!!! Warning - Wheel refurbs in Bristol
Little post about my current saga that's going on. A warning to you guys in Bristol about where you take your wheels for a refurb. I acquired a set (4) of split rim alloys at the beginning of April, 'Modena' by Autostrada, which are like the rims on an F40. These were bought from 'rapidrabbit' on this very forum! These were subsequently taken over to 'Wheelstyles' in Iron Acton, Bristol near the end of April. I was impressed by Andy there, who came across as a decent bloke capable of doing what he said he could. So the wheels were left with him to make anew. Que many calls and visits over the next three months from myself, and no sign of the wheels being finished at all. One minute they are finally being put back together and the bolts torqued up, two days later he is painting them again. Cut to last week: Phone call on Monday, wheels are finally going to be ready from Tuesday lunch time. Fair enough. I phone Tuesday to confirm, and we agree that I will come up on Weds early evening to pick them up. He also explains he is going on holiday on Thursday which is why he has motored on to get my wheels done and dusted. At around 4.30pm Weds I get a call saying can I hold on a bit till later on that evening. So I call back about 7pm. Reply is basically i'll call you as soon as this evening. Time rolls on to 8.30 so I thought I would go out and get some fuel + groceries and head over there to see just what the heck is going on. I arrive at the gate to the industrial estate, however I cannot just go in as it is a giant security thing with barbed wire and security patrols. So I call Wheelstyles hoping that I can then get let in, but no answer. I ask a chap leaving the estate if he knows if Andy is still there in the unit which he confirms! Over the next 1/2 hour I make a total of eight phone calls both to the landline & the mobile. No response or reply. Today is Thursday and guess what? No one at the Wheelstyles unit today because it looks like he has definitely gone on his holiday. (I went and looked). So yesterday was the last straw. I've been very reasonable in understanding that Andy was working by himself for a little while, however it has now become 'something else'. An outrageous way to run a business & deal with customers. As you can imagine I'm pretty pissed off lol. Jay ---

Should I finish Painting These???
Definitely you should get back into it and finish them!!! I do have a penchant for fantasy art - Vallejo, Julie Bell, Giger etc. You seen to have the knack for sure :)

Can anyone tell me if this will fit
anyone know? cheers

Things you would like to see made for our Zed's?
Excellent idea but let's have them in Carbon Fiber!!!

Can anyone tell me if this will fit
My 95 zed? Mine has the lights in the cluster not on the surround, however the plan is to fibreglass this surround up on the left side to mount a boost controller screen. Something on the right also but not sure what yet! I just need to know if it'l fit around a series 4 speedo cluster?

Things you would like to see made for our Zed's?
Lets make a list of all things you would like to see made specifically for the z32. Maybe someone/companies might take notice if there is enough interest for certain things. I'll start. 1: I'd like to see carbon fibre heater & light pods. (probably wouldn't crack like plastic either lol) A carbon auto leaver surround. Carbon door handle surrounds. A carbon steering column cover. Already a carbon stereo surround can be had from Japan, and am I right in thinking you can already get window switch surrounds in carbon? If these were made for a reasonable price, with pretty much a set to do all of the major items I think there would be lots of interest, especially from over the pond too. A set like this would be a major interior facelift. So yeh let's compile a list :)

possibly the sillyness question of the day - fitting gauges.
There should be a metal 'C' shaped thing (not curved though straight with right angles) That goes behind the hole. There should be two threads sticking out the back of the guage body itself, this clamps it down against the face of the hole!

It is possible that a Twin Turbo haven´t got boost gauge??
Hey you don't fancy selling it to me do you if I order some dials and they don't come with a blanking piece? :)
-
Pranged the Zed!
I paid directly when I nudged up against a ladies rear. £400 to fix her up or I would have lost 3 years no claims. Insurance would probably have gone up by about £1k.

Boot Blind advice
When I repaired a few areas (2-3” long) that were becoming unstuck I used flexible black super-glue, with a big bulldog type paper clip to hold it while the glue set.

It is possible that a Twin Turbo haven´t got boost gauge??
Aye mines 95 and no boost gauge. Bloody annoying because I want the EL dials, but I don't want a boost bit on there with no needle.
-
What do you think of these alloys?
I like em. Retro cool. Lambos nick our headlamps we nick their rims... Nuff said.
-
A-pillar pod fitment
I had this problem Bloody oversight if you ask me. I cut a small steel plate and screwed that over the hole so I could put a self tapper in. Mine doesn't sag in the middle under weight, it's moulded slightly wrong.

Things you`re planning on your Zed over the coming months?
So how did you go about getting that then? I did wonder of asking JWT if they would send the daughter board on its todd and i get some one to solder her in over here.

Things you`re planning on your Zed over the coming months?
Yeh I keep reading about an 8bit swap, had to find a lot of info about ecu chips etc. I find it odd though looking in the 1993 manual v`s the 1995 manual. Mines 95 and it has a signal from the boost sensor (under the nose panel) going to the ecu. The previous years ecu`s dont have this. So surely swapping to 8 bit is bad..? JWT in the us will put in a daughter-board to enable chipping a 95+ ecu. I just don`t fancy sending my ecu on a 8000mile journey. Plus would they have knowledge of mapping it based on our fuels?
-
Things you`re planning on your Zed over the coming months?
What have you guys got planned? Certainly some ideas in the unique mod`s thread. Plans for me: Chipping the 16bit ecu somehow. Fitting a boost controler. Fitting the new wheels when they finally finish being refurbished. Make a replacement boot floor cover that`s light and doesn`t rattle about, along with some little tray things to store stuff under. The big plan that i`m thinking about is fitting a 99spec front, painting the roof bars black followed by a black 99 rear wing. Might have to photochop that soon. Last is to tidy up some of the interior trim. Redo a few bits of the grey Alcantara Edit: Forgot about sorting the tension rods out and some other bushes!

Painting the roof bar
Bar above the windscreen. Does the windscreen have to come out? Or can the rubber trim along the top be pulled back / replaced to hide the new paint edge? cheers jay
-
Alcantara - where?
This is the stuff right? I've leather interior with the mid grey fabric on the door cards, glove box etc. Anyone bought some of this before in the matching colour & where did ya get it? cheers jay

Cockney girl reversed out and hit my car grrrr
Hey jimmytt one good thing is that the bumper will be fine as its polyurethane so it springs right back into shape. I'd just go on and get a wing sprayed then fit yourself. Plus it gives you chance to look at anything under there and sort it - which the body-shop wouldn't touch.

Cockney girl reversed out and hit my car grrrr
Oh no dude :( This is pretty much the same damage that mine suffered when a little old dear did an emergency stop in-front of me at a clear junction. Cost me £40 for a 2nd hand wing and £150 to spray it. Plus I had to spend a while correcting all the bent support brackets for the wing/spoiler. There`s a little plastic thing right at the front tip under the wing with felt type padding on it. The fixings on mine snapped. Had to glue it back together. Edit: just realised how old this thread is doh!
