  1. I agree with James on this one (not that I don't usually :D ), either keep it your thinking of getting another Z in the future, or if you want to see some of your cash again you're going to have to sell stuff seperately wheels, brakes etc Sorry mate James
  2. Any news on this? Has it gone through? If not, I'll also have a pair of O2 sensors :D Just had a conzult on the Zed and they're not doing anything, just sticking to 0.33v all the time, lazy bast***s! Thanks, James

Aftermarket ECU will have better air/fuel maps for the increased boost. What's probably happened is the previous owner used boost jets (read welding tips in vacuum line) to force the higher boost. Nothing to worry about really. Boost controllers are better as they can control spikes... As for the mis-firing, are you sure it's not detonation. Haven't heard it myself but people say it's like a bag of bolts rattling in your engine  Better wait to see what other, far more experienced people have to say:)

Safety Boost is 7psi Standard Boost is 9psi A lot of people on here run 14 psi (and more). Do you have a an aftermarket ECU? You should do or you risk detting. HTH James
  5. try this thread :D http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16572&highlight=wiring+diagram I followed this roughly and using a 6 point relay had no probs Best of luck!
  6. from reading AndyP's site series 1 is 89/7 to 92/8, so depends when in 92 your car is. http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm If it's the same series it'll be a straight swap, otherwise I think it's only a small modification to make between series.
  7. I have my original series 1 jap spec dash cluster around somewhere if you're interested... James
  8. Are you sure none of the coil-packs have come loose and your only running on 5 cylinders? Would explain back-firing as the unburnt fuel ignites in the exhaust HTH James

I think that's about right as normal boost is 9psi and safety boost is 7psi. HTH James
  10. well if you don't mind I'll have a set of poly bushes please Energy Suspension Hyper-Flex Master Kit Code: 300-ESMK Name: Energy Suspension Hyper-Flex Master Kit Price: $145.00 Thanks, James
  11. Eric, the CAS is really easy to do if you remove the turbo pipe above it. if you run the car for a few minutes the rubber is softer, so all you have to do is loosen the clamps, slide it back further onto the intercooler pipe, then twist and lift it off completely.
  12. I'll have 4 litres please, time for a change soon :) PM to sort details out Thanks, James
  13. once it's warmed up it should idle around the 750 mark with air con my idle goes up to about 900. HTH James
  14. thought I'd seen it, here ya go http://www.whifbitz.co.uk/300zxbodykitexplosion.htm they have it down as explosion though, and the central I/C makes the bumper look different James

    Years in prison: 81 Potential fine: £0 :D :D
  16. Tried this :( had it all the way down, even have some folded cardboard under the rubber bump stops - makes it a sod to close but it still rattled. I think the struts are busted as one of them has leaked some grease. Also checked out the panel in the boot and removed the counter weight since I have no rear spoiler or wiper. Thinking the unbalanced boot bust the struts. Also, dunno if anybody else can do this, but when the boot is all the way up, I can push a corner up about half an inch and it makes a nice clonking sound. That's what I get while driving (all the time!) James
  17. I'm assuming you're not doing a running jump then :D just hoping over the door and lowering yourself down? Surely you have the window down too :D
  18. Start the car up this morning to move her out the garage so I can sort the problems out from yesterday. Being quite gentle until I realise she's fine:confused: :D Revs are stable again, doesn't stall easily ( not sure if my original problem has been resolved though) and behaves normally with the AC being turned on and off. Smoke has nearly all gone, but still had a little white smoke on the drivers side, but I'm hoping that's condensation on startup as there's some water in the exhaust tip. Still wouldn't mind checking her out with a Conzult though - Vijay you have PM :D Thanks James
  19. I have a Bell 550 and behaves the same in the Zed as it did in my old pug 206
  20. if it's not your speaker, check your boot lid! I know it sounds silly but mine does over every bump!
  21. Saw that, something to do with worn springs. Will try that next if this doesn't improve it. Thing is mine will stall if you just let the revs drop from above 3k ... well used to, in it's current state it'll stall if you look at it funny! LOL Might have to search out a Conzult over the weekend if I don't get anywhere tomorrow - there will of course be beverages of choice in return :D Thanks, James
  22. OK calmed down a bit now. Going to strip the whole uniot out tomorrow morning using a guide from twinturbo.net, give it an overhaul then put it all back. Hopefully taking it out properly will reveal something I've left out
  23. Cleaned TPS (again), and temp sensor - no difference. Printed out the IAA stuff and had a go. Bit of a sod to work with, and I only got as far as removing the connector for the AAC. It was in a right state so cleaned that up. Couldn't get my hands around the FICD enough to remove connectors. Did notice that the rubber surround on the connectors broke as I was attempting to wrestle them free :( Put it all back together, started her up and she's a bit lumpy, bit I figure that was down to the battery being disconnected. Blip the throttle and the evs dropp all the way back then she stalls :( look around and there's a plume of smoke behind me  She's now smoking all the time, more smoke with more revs, tries to stall after any revs above 1,500. Tried the air con, and she nearly died (never did that before). So I'm figuring I've broken the connection to the FICD, I'm pretty sure everything was put back properly, the AAC made a connection given enough fiddling, not sure if it stayed though. so after all of that - HELP!! would this be the cause of the smoking too? Not seen any smoke before now. James
  24. Very very nice  :D Might have to pop over some time to have a nose around, and see all the mods you've done on smw1 of course :) ;)
