Smashed SWB
Totally with you Mike in your sentiments. I lost a school friend from the same year as me to a drunk driver. We were 15 when we attended her funeral. Ammar - your post certainly suggests that you think that drink was a factor but doesn't actually say it. Perhaps you could clarify before this thread goes the wrong way ?

NZR: Anyone on here into R/C models?
Cully, What sort of planes do you fly ? I'm seriously thinking about getting an r/c glider for when the conditions are too light to paraglide. Dave

Airbag
You need to be VERY careful with this kind of job. An airbag going off because you hit a bump (perhaps while out of control) could make a bad situation a lot worse. I'm sure it can be done but just make sure you fully understand every component of the system and how it should be mounted / set up. If you go for it, it would make a good tech article. Dave

overdrive
I think there's a misconception here - overdrive is just a 4th gear. It isn't going to come into play if you're pulling away. The button is used in three situations : where you want to be sure that it's not going to change gear unexpectedly, where a small amount of engine braking is wanted (and you're at speed) or when you want to get into third and kickdown isn't doing the trick / you don't want to boot it. clutch spigot bush???
Nightmare to diagnose that kind of thing. My personal view would be that it's not worth playing with until something breaks or you need a new clutch anyway - and then do the whole job. If you've got the money then go for a complete clutch (possibly and upgraded one) rather than try to solve the problem with 'small' fixes. Dave

How come that in Japan......?
I haven't heard that they're more thrashed. Actually, I haven't actually heard that they're more modded. I think it's just that when buying a car with limited history (as most imports are), the general recommendation is to avoid mods. My personal opinion is that a car with some mods, particularly cosmetic ones, will often have been better cared for. I think there are those who give warnings out because of the '200 mph top speed challenge' kind of thing which goes on around Tokyo in the early hours but I think that it's pretty limited and you'd spot one of those cars by all the stickers down the side ! META alarm in my Z
Not sure if this applies to you but if the people who installed it also supplied it then your contract is with them so they are the ones who should be sorting your problem out. If that means ripping it out and fitting a new one then so be it. It is not your job to go to the manufacturer unless you bought it direct. Dave

Statement
Jeff, A lot of people look at posts using "View New Posts" so we got a fairly healthy bombardment. Despite my flippant remarks, I do respect you for being open with your views. There's plenty of companies who've received a grilling on here yet I only recall one other prepared to respond (Pete R years ago). I do hope the whole thing is resolved to everyone's satisfaction. auto Box 2nd Gear
cocked up post - sorry !
-
do the sunroofs have a special bag
I did throw a half decent Z in with mine as well. Just thought I'd mention it as expensive prices appear to be a sore point today !

do the sunroofs have a special bag
Yes they do - and they're like gold dust ! Sorry, don't have any. Sold mine for £9K.

auto Box 2nd Gear
If the gearbox is otherwise fine then it might be electrical. Do you have a HKS ALC ? If so, then if the 10mm bolt on the connector from the ALC to the auto ECU is REALLY sensitive to being done up correctly and trying to loosen or tighten it a turn or two could help. I guess the same may apply to that connector, even if you don't have an ALC. Worth a play probably. Dave

You're all going mad !
So far today we've had discussions on "Can I disable my turbos ?" and "How can I maintain back pressure when I remove my cats ?". What's next ? Can I fit 165s on my 19x10s ? Is there a small bore conversion for better economy ? AndyZ, have you got any speed limiters going cheap ? Do Stillen do a tweed kit to replace my horrible leather ? And we used to take the piss out of other forums :D :D :D

starter/flywheel problem
I hadn't clicked that it had been fitted by someone else - Iain is dead right - take it back !

starter/flywheel problem
Can you give more information on 'won't start' ? Will it turn ? If not, what noise are you getting - nothing ? a single clonk ? a nasty scraping noise which sounds like a starter motor grinding chunks out of a flywheel ? Did you put the flywheels together to check precise size ? Can you check a part number to ensure you've got the right one ?

Turbo's
I always find it a bit fiddly to hold open two wastegates while driving. But then I'm not a very good driver !

Thanks everyone. For helping to empty my wallet. AGAIN !

Turbo's
Oh sorry, I hadn't realised you weren't a bad driver. In that case you've got nothing to worry about. ;) Personally I think your thoughts are completely understandable but completely mad. You will have much more fun in a lower performance car. And I speak from experience. I would have missed out on so much if I'd been able to afford a high performance car on day 1. Apart from anything else, I was able to make a lot of mistakes without hurting myself, other people or my wallet (well, the latter isn't completely true). Dave

NZR : Home Cinema Advice
Cheers Clarkey. So you reckon that even a cheap separate setup will be significantly better then just enhancing the build in stuff with hifi front speakers and a sub ? Does it make a difference that my DVD player has a built in decoder and separate line level outs for each of the 6 channels ? Sorry if they're crap stupid questions ! Dave

NZR : Home Cinema Advice
As I'm hoping to have my own place soon (after 7 months in work provided accomodation which is pink), I'm hoping to get my decent TV & DVD player out of storage. The TV has built in surround sound with left, right & centre speakers built in and little satellite rear speakers. It allegedly has a built in sub but it's more like a built in rattle. I can use my hi fi speakers for fronts and disable the left & right in the TV. I could then get an active sub to give it some bass. BUT ... Would I get a significant benefit if I got a separate speaker setup and/or a separate amp ? I really don't want to spend silly money - max of say £300. I'd much rather spend less, especially if the benefits aren't significant. Does anyone know much about this stuff ? Cheers Dave P.S. Sorry that all my requests for help are NZR but that's because I'm NZR !
