Zen Garage
No offense guys, but Martyn's dad has not been well for almost a year now and although I do sympathise and wish him all the best, He has had my car since Feb 2006. So he has had plenty of breathing space from me. So many times I have been told it will be ready by next Month, then next week (hence my signature). The last I heard a month ago it was going in for it's MOT, now I can't get in touch with him at all. If anyone has spoken to Martyn or is planning on going to his garage soon, can you get in touch as my patience has now deteriated and I'm going to have to look at legal action soon if I don't hear from him.

Great Wedding, Great Honeymoon, but.......
Luggage has just arrived at Heathrow. Fook knows where it went. But we should have it back later today apparently. I'm chuffed, but not holding my breathe as there is nothing to say that the cases are still intact. For all I know they could have been opened, damaged or they may even be the wrong cases. I'll let you know if and when they arrive. Thanks all for the sympathy.

Gearbox Whine
Save your self the time and money by checking the gator first as advised above by a couple of people. I thought my box was on its way out, same symptomns, but recently I had changed the gearshift bushes to make the gear stick stiffer. Reversed the procedure and found that the rubber gator was not secured correctly, it's amazing now much noise reduction that small rubber seal provides.

Plus the saftey ascpect of sticking a screw driver onto an injector that could possibly have faulty wiring :)

Help/Advice needed! sump cracked whilst driving!
if you have dented the sump as well it may be worth noting that the oil feed comes from the bottom of the sump as a vacum, if you dent it in the right place it could severly restric oil flow to the engine. When you get the sump off may be worth checking the pipe hasn't been damaged or bent as well.

big brake upgrade
If you decide to go for R33 Brembo calipers, I would suggest you strip them down and clean them up fitting new rubbers etc first. I converted to GTR Brembo's on the front and found that they were only slightly better than the stock 300zx's. I decided to strip them off again and give them a good clean up, work pistons in a little more and reseal them. 10 times better than before.

Slight Problem Help!
Being low on coolant will effect many things, especially after the car warms up. Low coolant leads to high engine temp, ECU starts shutting things down if it gets too hot in there, serious damage many occour if you do not keep the coolant up (or any other repayments based on it.. sorry went into work mode there). Top up the coolant, clean the sensors, take it for a spin, let it cool down again, top up the coolant again (you're more then likely gonna have an air lock or two if it was almost empty). I would recomend that you clean all sensors you can get to (just make sure you don't snap anything). Also clean the MAF sensor (under the headlight panel) Once you think you have the problem solved, it may be worth resetting your ECU. Disconect the battery for an hour, pump the clutch and brake petals a few times to drain the system of any power. Then reconnect the battery and drive like the wind ;). May be a little lumpy for the first 100 miles after a reset but it will clear any previous faults it had stored and also learn new settings with the cleaned sensors that may have been given incorrect signals.

Slight Problem Help!
yup fyrkat is correct you should have one either side. If you have a boost controller fitted you will need to disconnect these. If you do not have a boost controller fitted, you should definately have these connected. The temp sensor can be removed by unclipping the metal spring clip. Once this is off (make sure you catch it these things have a habbit of running for their lives once they are off), the temp sensor should just lift off. The black sensor next ot it is the sensor for the temp dial on your dash. The TPS is actually in your first picture of your last post. it's the black unit mounted on the side of the throttle boddies. Don't unscrew the nuts on the mount for this as any slight movement and you will be adjusting the Throttle position without meaning to. The connector comes off in the same way as the temp sensor, metal clip off and it should just pull off.

Misfire! ideas please
After Andy's checks. With the ignition on but engine not running unbolt the CAS and turn slowly by hand you should be able to hear a click from each of the injectors. make sure that they are all getting thier signal. If they are then it's not your injectors. test each plug one at a time buy pulling it out, connecting to it's coil pack and earthing out on the plenum, then crank the engine.

Slight Problem Help!
If you can't find TPS is on the passenger side of the plenum (throttle bodies). Another thought, O2 sensor have an impact on the lower rev range and are not used at the higer end. Is it a vibration in the car or a judder like the engine is not responding as it should ?. Vibration would point to bearings, judder would point to electrical or fuel. Anyone near you got a conzult, this would probably find most electrical problem straight away.

Rebuild finished, thank you Jimmer!
Good to know that some people actually do the work in the time stated. Sounds like you are having the same build as me more or less, I'm jealous it's taken three weeks for you to get your car back. Hats off to Jimmer.

conzult
Have a word with Danny from DTA or eric lymon, I'm sure by now they have developed a USB version of the old parallel cable. Not used mine for 3 years due to it being off the road, but I know the cabel itself can be a little temremental at times.

Slight Problem Help!
If you have an induction kit on, it may have water in it or be damp. This is usually a sympton. Also check your temp sensor this will usually cause a judder around 3.5 - 5 rpm.

Hmmm????
Have you had a look under the car to see where the leak is coming from ?. Obvisously you'll need the car running at the time. May give us more of an idea what it could be.

smoke/steam from engine bay!!!!!!!!!!!!
As Manta says above but if it's an under plemumn cooling hose you will probably be best taking the plenum off. Actually if you are confident in doing it yourself it may be worth doing that anyway just to see where the leak is.

Can you drop me a PM or reply to this post If you have your car with Martyn in linconshire or you know the address. Many Thanks

smoke/steam from engine bay!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you can get to the wet patch or part of the liquid, get some on your finger give it a smell. Does it smell of petrol ?. Can;t smell anything ?. have a taste (and spit it out). Does it taste sweet ? if so then it's coolant from somewhere, probably a loose or cracked coolant hose that runs under the plenum to cool the cylinders. If so, it's a plenum off job for that I'm affraid.

smoke/steam from engine bay!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was very hot yesterday, did you have the air con on full whack while you were driving home by any chance ?. My guess is that you haven't actually got a problem. It's condensation from the very cold air con pipes dripping on your turbo's or manifold. Best to be safe than sorry. Check for any signs of leak while the engine is not on or has not been on for a while, then make sure the air con is off. Take it for a 15 - 20 min spin, check for dripping again. Can't find anything ?. Then I was right the first time ;)

Xbox 360 or PS3?
Can you buy that game where you have to fix two mic's up and sing along when you are totally wasted. Played it at a friends house, it doesn't matter if you don't know the words, just as long as you can slurr the tune out :). I think it was the PS3.
