I'll clear my schedule. Count me in ;) Ok to bring the wife and kid ?
  3. Sorry to hear this Nick, hope everything works out for you !
  4. Send you a PM as I didn't want you to feel left out :)
  5. :x: erm long story. I'll send you a PM.
  6. Nah you're all good. It's a bit confusing. The seriers 1 PTU was standard on all 300zx's series 1 & 2. Series 3 onwards 300zx's started using the new series 2 PTU. I think we should just call it the old PTU and the new one to avoid confusion :) Ar eyou sure it's the O2 sensor wire. Can you see the wire going to the O2 sensor ?. They are fairly easy to change and not that expensive. Best to grab a conzult first and see ifit is the O2 sensor that is at fault.
  7. The bleed point that SilverBullet was talking about should be here, but looks like you don't have one on yours.
  8. If they are sockets it's not gonna provide the best seal. As they rust they will start to let air out. It may be worth getting some proper stop ends for those and gain yourself a few extra sockets :)

Nope we don't have this problem on our cars. Never seen it or heard of it either.
  10. It's a diagnostics machine built for the 300zx
  11. Andy I think his name is.
  12. There' got to be someone around that can help this guy out. He's just bought the car and first thing he did was subscribe to this site. If you can get yourself to Romford I'll have a look over the car for you but I think that may be a bit far for you. Surely there is someone closer that can have a quick lok over for you or run a conzult on it.
  13. I didn't think the 300zx needed an emissions test. You could just pull a vaccum pipe off the back right of the balance bar, that will lower it slightly ;)
  14. Sounds like you really need a conzult plugged into it to find the problem. I have no idea where you are as I'm not familiar with that place. How far from Romford / essex are you ?. In the meantime I would take off your induction and the MAF. Use some carb cleaner to clean the sensor (don't touch it or brush / wipe it as it's very sensative). Make sure there is no water in your Apexi filter or that it's not damp. If it is heat the oven for 10 mins, turn it off and put the induction in there for 10 mins to dry out or leave it next to (not on top) of a radiator over night. PTU is Power Transistor Unit. Black smoke would be over fueling. This could be to do with timing or a bad map. Or it could be misfiring due to the PTU. The other problmem may be the CAS (Crank Angle Sensor). But we should start with one thing at a time and oliminate them seperately.
  15. This may help. When you say it's not running right was do you mean, can you describe the problem ?
  16. Continuing on from this. You are looking for a square box with wrires coming out of each end. The series one will be silver with ridges on it, where as the series two will be a gold colour with black ends. The PTU sits in between the ECU and the spark, if you ever have problems with the car just shutting down when warm but starting up again after leaving it a while, you have a series one PTU and it's knackered ;).
  17. Looks like it's had it's plenumn off and maybe even the engine out as I notice the engine bay is the same colour as the bodywork although a little dirty. That's not a standard colour you have there, not for a 300zx anyway (AFAIK). Also your heater probably doesn't work as the feed pipes seem to have been joint together. This is usually done when the heater matrix packs up and dumps it's water all over the passenger footwell. Can't really tell too much more from the picutres. Nice looking car though mate.
  18. LOL The diff weighs a tad more than that mate :). I have a tomei racing diff in my shed but the internal clutch is slipping in it. Was thinking of getting it sorted and putting it on mine.
  19. Your ECU is still in diagnostics mode. You need to turn the screw on the side to put it back into normal mode.
  20. Happy Birthday mate. All the best. Have a great day.
  21. At least it wasn't pink :) http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=20717&highlight=Pink
  22. Bad fuel would not cause this problem. It wouldn't run right at all. It definately wouldn't just die and start again. PTU's (series 1) have a problem when they get hot the solder joints lift casing 1 or more cylinder to cut the spark. I series 2 PTU is much more resiliant and I've never seen or heard of a series 2 PTU having this problem.
  23. Thanks, I'll make a note of all of the info above.
  24. I've got 76k miles on mine. Changed the oil same as berks, every 3 months. Done 750 miles since the new engine.
  25. He's probably still all googly eyed somewhere in portugal :)
