Am I being massivly thick, how do we know its an NA?

I did look at them, but the closest trader registered to me was 50 miles away, they just wouldnt travel that far I dont think not for a small job. Cheers though Trying to, problem is finding people that havnt got 4 to 6 week waits. Its only a days work, a saturday for someone who needs the cash! I could only wish for people like that up here... Ive found a builder local to the village that my parents live in, seem far more "switched on"... hopefully they are going to have a look tomorrow. Yeah disgraceful been on the phone to other people and put the job on my hammer so heres hoping it will be en route soon. Most frustrating thing is I just want to move into it.... spent all this money and im still at my parents!

Yeah customer feed back is always good problem is though if your too good your always busy lol as ive found "cant do it till august, next month 6 weeks etc" which is just to long, it needs to be done asap as i want to use the dam house! lol

Well it was a trial really, some new guys seemed keen was only a little job so I could finish a couple of rooms with a view to bigger stuff if they managed that ok.... Not at all, apalling customer service! Problem is its just a couple of monkeys with a van, a neighbour summed it up for me "none are time served"... he makes a valid point, and few have much passion or pride in their work! This is the problem, no one knows anyone when you want some work doing, yet as soon as youve had it done ever bugger knows someone they can recommend... But yes I was most pissed of and of the same opinion, certainly not responsible enough to be left with the keys to my house! So then Jane, if you can plaster when can you start!? I'll make u a brew and everything! By the way.... for the record no attempt was made to contact me or visit the house by the builders. Evidently they don't want the work and certainly wont be getting any from me, or anyone else I know/on the road!

My first one was an auto, I found the box fairly poor to be honest. It worked fine just very wide gear ratios etc which didnt make driving it as good as it could have been. I found it wouldnt changed down when you needed it yet was insistant on changing down at times when it really didnt need to! I had it converted and found the converted car with auto turbos was quicker and smoother to come on boost but not so much at the top end, my genuine manual seems to have a touch of lag, but barely noticable. The 1 and 2 positions on the auto selector are not to change gear as such, they are simply to limit the ratios available to the car. For example if your coming down a steep grade, and dont want to cook the brakes assuming the speed isnt to great you could put the car into 2, which would force the car into second in order to provide engine braking. (in D with the overdrive OFF would give you 1st 2nd and 3rd etc) Forcing the car into "1" at 100mph wouldnt be to brilliant for the box, think of it as engaging first in a manual at similar speed.. Someone mentioned speeds with the auto box, IIRC it was around 50mph in first, 85/90 in second and 130/135 in third or something silly!

haha yeah I can understand, I'm thinking of economising, with a 540i.... lol well it'll do 18mpg and run on shit petrol ;) Thats better than 13mpg and expensive petrol... lol I have to say though, its always worth travelling for a car, as long as its something you actually want. End of the day, if you would do 50 each way, 100 each way is double I know but it might only cost you another £20 or so... and it becomes a day trip out to somewhere you might never have been before!

Bloody builders/tradesmen!!! I recently bought a house, which I dont live in yet as its a bit of a mess. Desperatly trying to get a couple of rooms complete so I can move into it and so got some builders round to quote to do a few jobs. Agreed with them the jobs an the price etc, they are supposed to come on Saturday 18th, I confirmed with them on the 14th and the guy said they might try and come on the Friday afternoon but would let me know to make a start. So I bust a gut to get back from work/work from home to be there... no show. Hadnt heard from them by 10pm on the Friday as to what time on Saturday they were supposed to be coming. So I text the guy to which he replied "sorry mate cant do saturday now, is monday ok" So I said yes fine, what time to which the reply was 9:00... So I got up early, drove to half an hour to be here at 8, got setup for working from home again.... Its not 10:54 no sign of them, no text, phone call or anything and not answering phones! Argh! Its good thing I have a flexible job!

Yeah the engine is an update to what was in the E30, not a bad engine really just showing its age by that time. I wouldnt value you it at that much, especially on ebay but it would be interesting to see what it went for. The milage is interesting "some history" doesnt bode well either... However low milage e36's are hard to find these days! Something like that, I'll have a butchers for one. I would avoid one with M3 mirrors, it shouldnt have them and they have been fitted by an "owner/enthusiast/chopper"

1.6 8v - 102bhp or so. Fairly slow, its an old engine and not brilliant on juice. But reliable and chain driven so not much to go wrong! That particular one is hard to price because of its low milage, however its an absolute bogo model so I cant imagine it would fetch much. I'm going to guess between £700 and £900 but its hard to say! Personally, since you like cars, if you wanted an e36 coupe but didnt want a 6 pot I would get a 318is (not to be confused with the 318i saloon) as the coupe being a 318is was 16v and 140bhp and quite good fun whilst being certainly no worse on fuel than the 316i or 318i from the saloon (both 8 valve). The 316i Coupe also retained rear drum brakes, where as all models had rear disks.

My thoughts were, 140k, UK Model, Big body kit.... what lurks beneath!

Aye they had standard brembos, went out on a 2000 and are worth less than a good shirt! (About the same as an old vectra then ;) lol ) But 220bhp as standard, filter, decat remap etc would make it 260 or so with only say 1300kgs to move around would be fairly nippy (if it didnt snap its drive shafts or rip the front tyres of.... ;) )
