  1. Mine isnt that bad thank god lol. However I wont be going that far either! Ah yeah Matt has done a couple of house renovations hasnt he, as with this law rubbish there is no proof of whos done it, and no requirement to sell a house with an electrical certificate, renting becomes a tricky issue in theory but there are ways round it with grandfather rights. I just can't say its all been rewired if I do come to sell! No plans to change the distribution board, dad and I did talk about it but have decided to stick with a fuse box thats fitted, its the same in our house at home. They have their advantages over a set of relays! Yeah there is that risk, Dad has done all of our house though and all looks good. Infact we have already done the sockets in one room and it looks great. Yeah cheers mate to be honest I'll be doing the cabling I think, then dad will connect it all up to make sure its absolutly A - OK. He is an industrial electrical engineer so the knowledge is no issue. The problem is the time, he is busy and so am I, however if its going to be 2k-4k then I have no option! Cant afford to spend that, especially if it can be done my self!
  2. Very familiar picture location! LOL... Nice looking car though, worryingly cheap -targa though!
  3. Thats what im affraid of! Cheers mate, it is a long way for you! Thanks anyway :) Thanks mate! I appreciate the offer! Just out of interest though, does anyone have any rough ideas as to what its going to be - basically I've bought a 1930's semi, I'm not sure if it was gas or electric lit from new BUT the currant lighting circuits are of some hideous age. Dad said its cotton sheathed wiring??! I.e pre plastic days. Upstairs 3 bed rooms, one light fitting and one switch per bedroom. 2 light fittings and 2 switches in the bathroom at the moment (its a seperate loo) 1 light fitting on the landing but on a double switched circuit to a switch downstairs. Downstairs 1 light fitting and one switch in both the lounge and dining room 1 light fitting and 1 switch in the kitchen 1 light fitting in the hall with a double switch (second switch is part of double switched circuit to landing light) It appears that there is conduit running from the loft to each of the light switches and conduit to each of the fittings in both upstairs and downstairs so pulling cables should be fairly easy, i'm considering having a go at it my self. Basically the house has been rewired for the power sockets at some point in the not too distant past (although they left it as a single socket per room grrr) I'm on with putting more sockets in the rooms as I go along, the problem is with the lighting situation is that really it all needs doing. As I wanted to do one room at once I wasnt intending on trashing the entire house - however since I have to take all the upstairs flooring up and mess with the walls etc in all the rooms just to do the first job I might just trash it all and have to find the money somehow. Sorry not much point to this post just ranting/rambling :D
  4. Do we have any domestic electricans in the Northwest that fancy some work on the side?? :) Looks like there is some re-wiring to be done in a house I have just bought :(
  5. Awesome! I think the 458 looks absolutly fabulous... + I love my one on GT5 :D Lucky lucky friend!
  6. You can drive the PM system one handed can you?? lol
  7. HMm well that was quick, chap arrived 15 minutes before his alloted time with my new pIephone. So lets see if the backup works!
  8. Fair point! Didnt realise how to do that until just now, i have to say I just use my phone as its my work one so I've never really used itunes, I find it frustrating though, on the odd occasion I have used it! Ohh shiney contacts again (Including the ones I had missed before)! Jolly good :)
  9. Damit, Thats what I was hoping it would do but It didnt give me any indication that was what it would do... Ah well, I've been through the 300 + contacts and pulled out most of the work ones I can see, put them in a seperate group and I'm hoping I can select the outlook group from within Itunes and then I'll have my contacts back again... irritated though!
  10. Wil it automatically have backed up the pictures from it then? As it wants to sync the entirety of my "my pictures" folder - that'll take it a while and of course I dont want all that on my phone!
  11. bugger, thats annoying, I was hoping it would do that but it didnt make any indication that it would do anywhere so I wasnt sure... Argh! I just wish It would display a list of the contacts it had backed up.
  12. well its brilliant synced all of my contacts into outlook, great so now i need to find a way of seperating them all out, or in reality im going to end up just typing all the names and numbers again, ffs what a heap of shit. This is only because I broke the screen and its being replaced on insurance. Argh! I;m sure they make it awkward on purpose, why on earth does it not have an option just to "sync" if it must (why must everything sync these days?) with JUST itunes, then buntunes can just store my contacts which is all I want it to do... This after it crashed when trying to do an update...
  13. Why cant I just backup the contacts from my iphone? It insists on having to sync, I dont want to fookin sync anything I just want to back it up.... After allowing it to sync with outlook (which I kenw would be a bad idea) its learnt all of my personal contacts, I dont want them on there as this is my work phone! So I asked it to "un sync" so whats it done? Oh yes it just deleted all of my work contacts. FFS Why cant they just make a piece of useful software? Its Itunes' fault really, my god its just the worst thing in the world....argh so annoyed!
  14. Fast runaround, if it has to be rear wheel drive then its got to be a BMW of some sort, 325 or 330 or if you want something bigger you cant go far wrong with a 530i/d great cars. Fast reliable and comfortable.
  15. Its either that or your hip..... ;)
  16. The RX7 and the RX8 are like chalk and cheese anyway, one is a fast lightweight awesome car with an epic engine and great handling.... the other is a slow GT car with a thirst for oil and ALOT of petrol RX& - Great car, I would love one some cool special editions, one model came with adjustable ride height as standard how awesome is that!) However need a rebuild every 5 minute, and not the most reliable of motors. RX8 - Two choices of engine, neither are turbo both burn a shit load of oil both are pretty slow. Not a great looking car IMHO and really a bit of an insult to the legendary RX7
  17. I saw this thread and thought the same, I had the same issue with one wheel nut.... car had been in a garage recently for work on the front end, spanner monkey had started on a rear wheel before being told not to. I thought he tightened it up as I was watching but obviously not. Heard a ticking/clicking weird noise though, when driving along stopped and sure enough one of them was finger tight! All the others ok though!
  18. SSG is a more basic version of SMG, basically the same idea but a cheaper varient for the 325i and 330i models rather than the full fat SMG II 6 speed which was in the M3 of that age. Basically its a manual gearbox, of which the clutch is automatic. The gearbox is robotised and so changes gear for you, they are normally used manually, i.e you tell it when to change gear for you but there is an automatic mode. Totally different to an automatic gearbox, this tiptronic shite that people harp on about on mitsis is nothing new and was on BMW's at a similar age, known as steptronic (they also have AGS progressive driving learning as well which notices continuous braking and realises your on a hill to save the brakes, jolly nice of it. (Again been around since 94..) Be wary of people trying to tell you an automatic version (some have buttons, my dads 745i does) is an SMG/SSG. Personally I would have a proper automatic (nice and smooth and very reliable in a BMW I have to say) or a proper manual. Problem with the SSG/SMG cool as it is, it does feel like maureen has got hold of the gearbox at times, especially around town!
  19. I must admit the boot on my SWB was more useful than me LWB... however my LWB boot was different to most as for some reason someone in previous ownership had used a standard alloy as a spare and had a custom boot carpet made to fit the spare = ergo giving a massive great wheel shaped lump in the boot which made it less useful to say the least!
  20. convert it if you can mate, have you driven a manual zed? I had my first zed converted from auto to manual and I honestly couldnt believe it was the same car! It seemed to handle so much better, go so much better and sound so much better. Best of all, if your auto gearbox is working you can sell it (I did and got £300 or so for it which offset the cost of conversion)
  21. So so glad this car is to be saved from the gas axe. I was watching the forsale thread... Weighed up the options as a matched year pair for mine!
  22. I think I just did a big sex wee! When do I book mine in for conversion ?! :D
  23. I'm with admiral, just the normal policy though and paid about £660 fully comp with breakdown cover. 24, 4 years (maybe 5?!) NCB thats on a 95 Manual Slicktop TT
  24. Ah! Takes forever doesnt it to get anywhere with a purchase, it took me 2 months despite me being a FTB with everything ready before the offer was accepted, and the house being an inherritance it should have flown through! I didnt actually go for the 5% deposit as it wasnt available, it is a good idea though but im not entirely sure how it works! Lol yes very sure, it is 3 bed however prices are not as strong up here. Its in bare, which is a village thats been enveloped by morecambe as its expanded, generally regarded as a nice place to live. However I'm moving from a big house in the middle of nowhere which is near a small village so its going to be a bit of a culture shock, it was up for 175k and I got it for 160. However at 175 it was "realistically priced" Considering its condition (lovely really, just 30 years out of date) as it needs cosmetic updating etc. Similar houses on the same road when they are "modern" go for around the 200k mark. Thanks for the offer mate, I may will take you up on it. Not far from you either really, its up in bare. There is alot to do on the house... lol Can you build? Plumb? Move loft traps? :D
  25. Its not actually in the top of the gearbox anyway, its on a linkage with control rods. http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=mt&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=11&design=default&total=37 Online manual might help? The problem is the gearbox is at the back then the movement of the linkage is going to be back to front I suppose! Btw, I have to say for a largo that looks epic! What sort of power is it producing?
