Cost of running a Zed?!
depends on the miles you do... and of course if you get a good one. i've been lucky with mine, had plenty of history and all the right maintainence had been done. It also depends how you drive it as well, if you respect them and allow them to heat and cool nicely then you should be fine. If you try and thrash it from cold then you'll find it wont last long! It also depends wether you are from the school of thought that believe in preventative maintainence. If you repair things before they break you will be forever changing things and this will result in an expensive time. As for mileage, turbos are said to only last about 60k, but will last longer if the car has had a nice life, and regular oil changes as well as keeping its cats... Dont decat it unless you want to replace the turbos very soon! There is ment to be a big service at 60k, waterpump, cambelt, tensioners, vtc springs etc etc Depends if you want to follow all that. Not unknown for a car to be fine for 100k plus without all this extensive part replacement. But all on the cars life and history. Cant but a definite figure on it, but keeping the 1 to 2k slush fund available is the only way you can be sure that you have the funds for "any" repair... Also im convinced that zeds can sense bank balance, they behave until you are skint and then give grief as soon as you have to spend your slush fund....! A point to the "more experienced" members, im 20 and because the zed is a relativly low risk in its group its insurance is quite cheap (for what it is!) For example, a scooby (even just a 215bhp wrx) would be twice as much to insure... Tax is the same as any other car over 1549cc and fuel is well, not good. But then i dont have my zed to drive every day. The cost is of course offset by maintaince, but as has been said its always luck of the draw and finding a good one... (on another note, if you find a good one stick with it "better the devil you know....")

Auto Box, No 3rd
well. get the gearbox oil changed cant hurt, you never know you migh get lucky! If not, then the autobox isnt exactly working properly anyway so it isnt going to get any better by not driving it. And if you dont mind driving it without third then i cant see it causing any damage to the rest of the car lol. If overdrive works its still capable of 160+ ;) just might take a bit of effort getting there without it trying to change down! Alternativly i'll have a nice low mileage recon'd auto gearbox coming out of mine fairly soon ;)

Newbie......Help !!
haha you know it was only the other day that someone said "love your ferrari", pity i had to correct them and tell them it was a MORE unreliable model made by nissan.... Similar engine technology tho... sort of!

Auto Box, No 3rd
i presume if you totaly easy of on the throttle it wont change into overdrive either then? Other than oil change on the gearbox its pretty much new box on it

Not quick TT
i was going to say they are more like one continuous surge to whenever you run out of road or bottle. Not as snappy as a manual. A good test for you to is to get the car rolling at say 15 mph and then jam your foot down, should make it kickdown into first... then they feel quick! If it doesnt feel fast then there is somthing wrong with it

Newbie......Help !!
Slcik tops are a bit lighter.... Remember the Targa has a chassis made of girders to keep up the torsional rigidity! (Much like a convertible)

Wooohooo! Got the job!
oh thats okay then! As long as your used to it... last company i worked for looked into getting cars instead of vans at one time... I was all for it until i read those rather horrific taxation rules!
-
Wooohooo! Got the job!
The tax man is going to love you.... say good bye to your "non taxable allowance".... Before you've earnt anything you'll owe Darling! Get them to get you a pickup truck (if that still counts as a van?) or failing that a van of somekind lol... can get away with not paying for those. Or at most with "limited use" they are £500 a year or so! Congratulations by the way!

Help! Bloody laptop won't work with the printer!
does the printer show in device manager? You could try manually installing it. If you download the smaller of the two files that are offered (the 8.7mb one) im assuming here that your 3550 is the inkjet and not the laserjet. and then run it, it will just extract some files to the download location (so make sure you know where you put it!) Then go to control panel, and then printers and faxes and then on the left hand side click " add printer" That will give you two options of local and network printer, choose local but untick "detect and install my printer automatically" it will then ask you to specify a port, choose "USB001". Click next it will then ask for a driver, click have disk and navigate to where the file you downloaded has extracted too. double click on "enu" then "drivers" then "win2k_xp" and it should then show you a file called "hpf3500k" select this and click open, then ok and then next a couple of times. Thats the printer manuall installed. Those installers for printers are not normally particularly good, they often crash and generally cock up. You could also make sure that windows is fully up to date. There was an update at one time that delt with issues of printers being incorrectly shown as ofline. Wether that might be somthing to do with it im not sure but being up to date cant (normally) hurt too much!

BP 102 octane
I've a one stop shop for fuel.... caton road petrol station lol.. Regular now at 91.9 and vpower at 98.9 :o

Bhp On Z32 Tt????
Whos jack? They had 300bhp with the manual, but 280bhp with the auto.... and 222bhp for your NA. That was the 1990 MY. and it didnt apear to change throughout the life of the car in the states. As for it being DIN or SAE, its listed as bhp in here (but i do have a list of a UK twin turbo at 278ps) But lets be honest, its a minor difference. Just interesting to know the full story. I was under the impression when i first got mine that they were all 300bhp lol (Shows how much research i did before diving in at the deep end!)

O2 sensor
that'll be what it was.... cable ties are your friends... It would appear mine is now made of rust and cable ties lol

auto-manual converts, are you happy?
I get this as well, "oh its an auto" lol I took a couple of people out in it the other day to show them what "an auto" can do... soon shut them up... All that does my head in about it is inability to stay in gear, cant put your foot down and use the torque like you can in a manual, it changes down makes loads of noise and uses all the fuel in texas.... Grrr
-
O2 sensor
just drive everywhere flat out, will be okay then lol... If its on 5, you can tell it sounds awful at tick over and when its revved. Tend to vibrate alot because they are unbalanced. But also removing each coil pack connector and listening to what happens to the, see if the engine note changes. If it does then that cylinder WAS working but obviously you've just unplugged it. If you pull one out and it doesnt change you know its lost a cylinder. That then leads to a whole host of other posibilities as to what it could be... When mine was running on 5 and then 4 it was just the coil pack connectors coming loose, my temporary fix 4 months ago was a couple of cable ties, and well its still temporary lol. If you remove them all (one at a time of course) and it changes note on each cylinder, then you know its not that at least. Could then be, Idle control valve perhaps? temperature sensor? Or throttle position sensor perhaps? Not entirly sure tbh... limited knowledge on cars lol

O2 sensor
they sound like a scooby on 5... well mine did anyway... It was even worse on 4! especially since it was 1 and 3 which dropped of at the time lol, bless it. Im watching this, because mine has odd running symptons at times which iv put down to an o2 sensor, does it feel hesitant from time to time and if your cruising along at seemingly any speed somtimes feel like its lost power and then it will come back at random. Having watched it on conzult and datascan it seems to run crap, idle varies a couple of hundred RPM when one of my 02 sensor just sits ata value, the right hand one, but when they are both flutuatiing it idles at the same rpm and response fantastically. Only does this when cruising, under hard acceleration its always fine... now im sure someone has told me before that under hard acceleraiton the ecu ignores the signal from the o2 sensors anyway?? Am i correct? also how much is an o2 sensor and how hard are they to fit?

Bhp On Z32 Tt????
To be honest mate it was bang on... to quote "Nissan 300zx 350z The Z-Car" story by Brian Long This is taken from the January 1992 update to the british market section "With an 8.5:1 compression raito official engine output was 278bhp at 6400rpm (although this dropped to 263bhp at the same engine speed with the automatic gearbox) Peak torque was 272lbft at 3600rpm (or 269lbft at 3200rpm for the automatic transmission). This was enough to power the 300zx to a governed top speed of 155mph (248kph) with either gearbox, although, naturally the 0-60 time was different: 5.9 seconds for the manual and 7.5 seconds for the automatic."

Bhp On Z32 Tt????
check out my graphs from a broken rolling road lol About 15 of us from my local car club went down to a new rolling road that had just been installed a few weeks ago at a local place. Sadly we had problems, 4wd just were not working properly and rear wheel drive was giving some "interesting" results... like 3560bhp @2500rpm from my mates 200sx!! Mine made 581bhp haha.. Although i must add i manually calculated 330bhp (hence the random lines) but it will be wrong... the Dyno was a little bit buggered that day We are all booked in for when they've fitted the missing parts (thats right i did say MISSING!) that make it work properly!
