  1. The boost gauge will have been in mmhg as it was a jap car, this is milimeters of mercury. It amounts to the same as -14 to + 14 psi just a different unit. Idling towards -7 is good, shows there are no HUGE vacuum or boost leaks. Hicas light could be on for a number of reasons, low power steeing fluid, or an aftermarket steering wheel without the correct boss is often the case. Oil pressure gauge on most cars is normally about as accurate as a long range weather report so I wouldnt worry to much about that. Seats are easy to replace but depending if you have new or good second hand can cost between £200 and £2000, bodywork in good condition is a good start, need to check underneath though along the sills and floor pan. Bearing in mind that particular old lady your looking at is 22 years yound dont be expecting wonders! It sounds like it would need to be cheap from your description though...
  2. Good luck with the project!
  3. Lol! Like that.
  4. Welcome, best thing to do is go and have a sit in at least or have a test drive in one. Bearing in mind that the Japenese are typically a fairly petite race, you should be fine for driving position! There is no kidding that even SWB models are quite large, although not by modern standards. You will find its very wide compared to a 100nx. Also the things ive noticed as have my passengers over the years is how tall more modern cars are. A Focus or astra towers above a 300zx especially with lowered suspension As much as the NA is still a great car, and there is more to go wrong on a TT i would say the benefits of having a TT far outway the downsides. Fuel consumption is about the same, however the performance of the TT is just streets away.
  5. You might find that it takes time for the insurance database to catch up with the DVLA database. You should be able to just tell the insurance company the cars details though, as long as its what you say it is and have the registration number on file then all should be well. A bit odd but my family had a landrover discovery, which for years never showed up on any databases and that. Yet one day it just appeared when doing a search.
  6. Old age my friend, gets to us all :D
  7. Im sure there was a chap called russ with a 98 slicktop i was once told about.
  8. Version S was a base model trim IIRC. Any particular reason he wants a 98 model? Ive a 95 Version S Slicktop (i.e with a hard top roof, no targas)
  9. Ah bloody hell mate! After all the work you have put into a stunning car. Is this last resort kinda thing? If it is whats got to happen then I hope you find a buyer soon. :(
  10. Nah certainly not his as his was JDM and many many times cleaner than that! It also had 99 spec rear lights and a 99 spec rear spoiler and a rebuilt engine IIRC.
  11. At this rate its going to be a toyota carina ;) Hope you get something sorted soon mate! Annoyed I cant make JAE this year, company nominated for an award and we've a talk to give and an exhibition stand to run at the same spot over the weekend of JAE so i've got no hope!

  18. I dont doubt it hehe, just different to mine. What year is that car Gary? Ah! Sorry dude must be the angle of the photo. What year is your car? This is the back end of mine... The dirty/grubby mark is where the boot rubber touches. I notice yours has a clear plastic pad there.
  19. Lol no its never been in the back of the car, yours is LWB isnt it by the look of your sig?
  20. Well I know mine has a front bottle... lol and its a slicktop... I was actually hoping slickpete would be lurking somewhere as I'm sure he will know. After having a poke around on the internet it would appear that the verts have a front bottle as well. Really weird!
  21. Just to keep harping on about this, to everyone with a washer bottle in the rear, do you have a slicktop or targa SWB?
  22. I was looking at that on ebay the other day, total heap. Guy doesnt know what it is, despite changing the listing to now say its a 1990 he still insists that its a UK car, when it clearly isnt. If you are on a budget and want a nice zed then by the looks of things this could be the way to go http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1993-NISSAN-300-ZX-TWIN-TURBO-TARGA-LOW-MILEAGE-FULL-SERVICE-HISTORY-2-OWNERS-/120956866827?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c2997510b Looks nice and clean, series 2 by the looks of it with good leather clean paint, original alloys and a very clean engine bay.
  23. I know it was late when on Sat when I saw you Matt. What happened then? Were you of to the event or of home? That woman in that Q7 who was moaning at you couldnt get it started... haha. Fook me that car is loud, Ash couldnt believe it and she was sat in the car! Hope everything gets resolved mate, I wish I could offer to help but since I have so little time and know nothing id be little more use than a teaboy!
  24. At 17: 5 Door civic 1.5 vtec-e (90bhp eco version, sadly!) Sounded good though! At 18: 1998 E36 323i Coupe Turned 20: First 300zx, JDM TT auto which i converted to a manual 21: 1997 E36 M3 Evo Coupe 23: 1995 300zx Slicktop (still own). Those were the "main" cars, in between along side the above: 1996 Laguna 2.0 RT to go to work in 1999 Xsara 2.0 HDI 90bhp again to go to work in. I've also had a fair collection of vans which consist of: 1xTransit connect 1x Vauxhall Vivaro 3x Peugeot Partners 3x Renault Kangoos 2x Vauxhall Combos 1x Astra van (still have, although will be going soon as up to 111k now) Assuming people are still alive after reading my boring list, I actually keep a log of each vehicle, registration and start and end milages on a spreadsheet which calculates the distance travelled and averages mileages etc. If anyone cares, as of today: I have been driving for 7.57 Years I've driven 279089 miles Which is an average of 101.12 miles a day every day since I have passed my test or 11.2 laps of the earth or 1.168 trips to the moon.
  25. Awesome mate well done... I thought about doing that so often when I had mine, just didnt know where to start lol. Be interesting to see how it runs differently now? Any quicker or Smoother etc.
