  1. i have exactly the same sound kinda like worn beerings, seem to eminate from the silver round cover on the right hand bank lower cam thing, a friend said it was the crank position sensor but didnt sound very plausable
  2. no prob, seems to do a good job too, when they had my zed up on the ramps for mot i had a good look and there doesnt seem to be any rot or rust at all, not bad for 13 year old car id say
  3. a quick google found this information "Durasteel is a zinc-nickel alloy with 50% more plating thickness than ordinary galvanized steel. Each panel is then laser-etched, creating an extremely smooth surface on which the paint will be applied."
  4. not strictly true, house prices have nearly double in the last year around here, purely because they dont do gravey and beer cost an arm an a leg down sauf :D
  5. mmm chips gravey and a cold stella, i would would guess a chip barm is a chip butty, or what we say round here is a chip cob.
  6. does seem a little bit slow for the revs to rise, mines a j spec and seems to fly up once the boost kicks in around 3000, also mine will rev round to 7000 too, as far as i know its stock, i know the boost guages are pants but i thought it should go higher than that, not really tech advice i know but the comparison may help, although j spec have a power button not sure if that makes a difference
  7. argh dont mention beer, im never drinking again these keys are clicking too loud on my keyboard
  8. looks cool does that, really shows off the zeds lines
  9. amazes me that these marketing guys/girls can have such a laugh in there job, funny stuff tho.
  10. people that pull onto the road in front of you causing u to brake sharply, then have the cheek to crawl at 10mph and then suddenly turn off without indicating, spotty kids that sit in overkitted novas that rev the bollocks off there engine hoping that you;ll race them off the lights, like im gonna waste the fuel on you muppets. people that have a brand new shiny car that wont go through gaps that u could get a bus through, makes me laff when i go through a tight gap and some prat behind you holds up the traffic in there super mini cos they dont think they can get through a gap i just got my car through
  11. Well a mate at my new work place challenged me to a bit of a duel in a 310 bhp scooby, so the keys were thrown down and the challenge accepted the result, he was about half a car length in front from a standing start but i started to pull a way aboved 50 then onto 70 and the road ran out, bloody industrial esates eh. with more road i feel i would have pulled ahead quite abit any tips on launching an auto from standing start, he basically drop the clutch at 3000 rpm and got wheel spin in first and 2nd, i had no wheel spin, i had the over drive off and power button on but it seemed pretty even till about 50
  12. first thing springs to mind is speed restrictor on j spec, if youve been above 120 before, then ignore this post as it has no relevance, and my limited knowledge stops there hth
  13. would tie me over till i can afford the notes for a 99 spec if u have a pic that would be great, chuck it to beermonster65@ntlworld.com
  14. yes i know tickover threads have been done to death but i had a search and didnt find anything relevant to my problem, its been like this for a while now and i just got round to investigating basically the car drives and runs superb, good pickup smooth gear changes etc. auto j spec tt btw. now no matter what temperature the engine either from cold or normal temp, the tick over in neutral is always 1000 rpm, if i switch the aircon on it rises slightly which i beleive is normal. i think its running quite rich cos i noticed when backing up i get black smoke out the zorsts. it basically seems to me that the "choke" is stuck on all the time, so im thinking the ecu doesnt know what temp the engine is, ive cleaned the coolant temp sensor and throttle bodies. any other areas to check, much help appreciated as 10 mpg is killing my wallet
  15. Gave the car a good cleaning at the weekend, thought id put the old digi cam to use and share some pics, im thinking off replacing the tatty front bumper, which also seems to have had a rather heavy blasting of stonechip and off shade paint job too with a 99 spec, maybe some clear rear light units, clear side repeaters and some white dials to spruce up the interior, not sure weather to go rear spoiler route as i like it the way nissan intended, any comments suggestions welcome
  16. not me, i saw a pearl yellow zed in nottingham with kit and high rear spoiler, and it looked awesome
  17. man what a bummer, thats one very clean zed you have there, im sure the problems u mention will be electrical, so shouldnt cost a fortune to fix, i'd say its gotta be worth at least 5k,
  18. this farting noise is usually associated with a blown sub coil, u need a very power full amp to drive a 18, and a very high quality sub to cope, my mate blew a cheap 18 in about 20 minutes of buying it, also if the signal is very distorted it causes the cone to exceed its forward backward motion causing it to blow, dont know what sort of music u listen to but i recon you would get a much tighter punchier sound with 2 x 10 or 12s at the most. the amount of air a 18 incher is pushing is huge and requires any distortion in the signal is bad for it.

what really hacks me off is those people that know your there but dont look at you and just saunter slowly across the road and u have to bloody slow down or nearly stop for them, cheeky buggers.
  20. good idea, id be instrested series 1 j spec would that work
  21. yep they are thirsty buggers, but u soon get used to not worrying about that its worth it for the sheer fun of driving the beast. if your not gonna do a lot of mileage try get a capped policy, i paid 438 quid fully comp for 3000 miles pa. that on a j-spec no mods tt auto. the was with footman james. theres usually some on this forum for sale in the for sale bit, they are a helluva lot of car for not much money, i always find myself taking the long way home, also when uve got the roof off and some decent tunes kicking out its such a great feeling, be prepared for lots of stares and people pointing tho :D
  22. yes the turning circle does seem a bit crap compared to the mk3 supra i had b4, also the low front end makes u wary of going over the curb
  23. mine came with the magnelli marelli or what ever there called spiders on them 10 x 18 reares 7.5 fronts
  24. its probably the same guy that posted on a computer mods site, he read about water cooling his pc, so he got some silicon sealer, sealed up the entire case, filled it with water, and wondered why it kept blowing fuses. its posted like a genuine post very dry humor. the reponses are the best cause u have people genuinely trying to help him and some just taking the mickey.
