i thought the same way b4 i got a zed about a month ago, then thought what the hell u only live once, do it man but make sure its a nice one cos a bad one WILL be expensive to sort out, its worth paying a couple bucks more for a nice one than spending shed loads on a bad one

uk wing mirror to j spec wiring
i think the heater comes on with the rear demister, it was just a case of wiring up the same coloured wires too, now i can see whos trying to overtake me muwhahaha

well i got me mirror from andyz today, thanks btw, the j spec has 5 wires blue purple pink yellow orange and the new uk spec has blue yellow purple is it as simple as wiring up the 3 uk ones to the same colour j spec ones any info appreciated thanks

was poking around the map holder rear pockets things on me new z, and i find one of those pens theat when u press the top in a didffernt message appears in the slot, its all in japanese btw, what other japanese good have people found in their imports

Got a 300!
me personally think dump valves belong on r5 turbos and scort s1 bo's, what causes the noise, is it the waste gate actuator, all i know is with this current weather i dont use the power button on the autobox, i get a strange vibration above 50 mph too, cant afford a full bush kit at the mo tho, 99 spec bumper is calling

yeah mine leak like hell, seems the drainage rubber down the a piller is squashed at the top, u can get black silicone sealer, ive heard thats the best to use, havent tried it yet but gonna investigate. mine makes all kinds a funny noises, strange honking noise from under the bonnet when i boot it. kinda like a strangled goose.

WTF !!!!! Traction Control
i work in pc world and these usb to serial adapters dont seem to like a lot of software, i tried it with serveral phone manager programs and it just doesnt want to connect, i would recommend u take it back and by a cheap pentium 166 tosh laptop or summat like that for about 100 quid, the adapters are about 60 if i remember. and u get a true serial port on them, in the device manager u can enable dos support for the adapter, see if that helps.

UK & Jap spec insurance.
i had several kittens trying to get my z insured but footman james came up trumps, 488 quid fully comp on j spec tt, 6 years ncb and 28 not bad at all being as my last co wanted 448 tpft on me mk3 supra non turbo, btw this is for a 3000 miles per year policy.

lowering springs raised car!
just out of intrest, how do u measure if your ride height is stock, my zeds got 18's on and over small bumps the back end seems to hop, kinda like u can feel the back end moving, is this normal or has my zed been lowered/stiffenend

btw zed autobox rox, specially j spec with the option for power, dont know what it does but it sounds cool and its instantn power and u dont have to worry about gear change, i just put me foot down and grin

service question
ok i just had the oil filter and antifreeze done on my zed, before it pressure would sit around 4 and go up with revs accordingly, after service of standard filter and magnatex 10 40 oil the pressure seems really low and almost below the first marker without a number sometimes, then it settles out to arround 4 under normal driving, its a j spec btw, now i checked it several times and its definately not leeking or burning oil out the zorst, i put in the recommended 3.5 litres and its showing right near the max on the dipstick, am i worring too much or is it a dodgy sensor.

300ZX or MKIV Supra?
i was in exactly the same situation a month ago, had a mk3 supe and really wanted a mk4, as u say your looking around 8k-12k for a supe of reasonable condition, after much consideration i decided i couldnt justify the cost, and then a zed came on the scene and like u say offers similar performance, i snapped it up and love it to bits, its definately fun to drive, and from what ive seen reasonable to maintain unless something major goes wrong. looks wise i think the zed has more of a unique look, the supra just looks like a bog standard coupe and if it wasnt for the huge shopping trolley spoiler wouldnt stand out that much, first time u drive down a town centre street u will feel very odd with everyone looking at you, i certainly did.

Thinking of buying - advice please
get some insurance quotes too, make freinds with car body shop repairers and mechanics, its save me loads, my mates a nissan md mechanic and is doing service and cambelt this week at next to no labour cost, although it might cost me a fortune in stella

my outside temp gauge has just recently been showing -80, when i first got it it was showing correctly, guess its time for those winter warmers, JD and coke should do ok, any one else had similar prob and cured it

350 quid !!!!! blimey, i was expecting a lot less than that, but having said that ive seen some dodgy novas with DIY stuff and it looks horendous all airbubbles and stuff. thanks for the advice guys, i think ill get the winter service and cambelt done first, then wait for xmas bonus.

cheers mate looks good, dont think i could go that dark, does the film get scratched tho, im new to this mod, all i know is the rear film on the back window on mine is dire, its terrible at night. a sort of just dark than standard would do me, is it easy to fit or would u always leave this kind of thing to the pros.

my z j-spec has a tinted front screen with shade band, and a rear tint on the back thats kinda purply to look out of but is a bugger at night, the side glass doesnt seem to have a tint at all, now with the interior being cream leather it kinda feels rather exposed when im in it, im used to my supra that had a dark blue interior and tinted glass all round, is it normal for j specs to have non tinted glass at the sides. so im thinking of going tinted at the sides, i take it film is the cheapest option, what would u guys recommend, ive seen just the rear sides tinted, i take it the main side glass could get scratched as they do the uppy down thing, also my z is red and dont think limo black would look too good, any suggestions more than welcome, rob

yeah i know exactly what u mean, before i bought mine a friend took me out in it, and hes used to driving fast, he races karts and is a lunatic, i was close to be sick, my stomach was in knots, he took it out the other day with another mate in it, it was bone dry and pretty warm, even with the 265 rears he got it side ways on a straight road from pull off, he wasnt expecting that at all, there was an almighty woosh when the turbos kicked in and arse end came out, i was like whoa, just glad i wasnt in it.

i remember doing a paper round, must be 15 years ago, and seeing a red manta at this big posh house, it was the dogs dangleys then, im sure in another 10 years all that we be left of that car is that repair,
