  1. LMAO! :D I know you were talking about buying another house Ian - are you moving down here so you can be on Pete's doorstep every morning to hassle him to finish it (like the rest of us)? Ooh... controversial! :o Seriously tho, I hope it all goes according to plan. It'd be /really/ nice to see that happen. Fingers / toes / arms / nuts / whatever else, crossed for you ;)
  2. I s'pose that also explains how you can send a rocket to the moon - you need a lot of power to get there, but it's really far away... so by the time you get there your rwbhp has increased so much, you have enough power to get you there(?!?). I need a beer.
  3. Is that it?! No more comments?!.. after we went to the effort of breaking down the front door to Martins work-place just to get you guys a scan of the plot?! You lot are a funny bunch at times :p
  4. I don't just mean: turn left, turn left, turn left either. Nascar, eh? Far too complicated. Take the horrible bendy bits out and make the track a straight line. Then you could have cars with, say, 744 rwbhp racing from *here* to *over there* - no confusion about who's in the lead or anything. That'd be great! :)
  5. Corners... it'd be polite to explain what they are for the benefit of our American guests ;)
  6. Adam - yeah, appreciated it's back-calculated to the flywheel, but my point is that both seem to be so variable based on where you go. OK, I got it wrong about EA reading low - maybe it reads rear-wheel a bit low, then they over-compensated the flywheel figure for autos and under-compensate for manuals. From hunting around for pics of other peoples plots, that seems to be the general theme. So it'd be a bit naff to say: I've got sh*t-loads of bhp at the flywheel (which I'm not) when the drivetrain loss figures look... um... daft. Fat?! Big-boned ;) I started the thread so people would stop ringing me, asking how it came out :) They're the numbers, but the only thing that's really important is how much they'll change after the next session. I think it's a good start, and I'm glad they're using the same loss figure as the SE RR day because it's kinda like I eventually made it, even though I was 4 months(?) late. Forget the flywheel figure... I'm thinking the interesting stuff is where it's making peak bhp (bl**dy high) and peak torque (rather low)! You gotta see how strange the plot looks too, so thanks to Martin for scanning it, you now can. High rpm peak bhp I can sort of understand - that's the cams, innit!? But I'm surprised the the torque mountain looks like that - T28's supposedly having a bit more lag. 1 bar just isn't enough! Dave - sorry about jumping in there, but it kinda felt like it *must* be my turn by now.
  7. Does sound like a lot dunnit? I'm just going by the super-high-resolution printout I have here. Dunno what loss percentages for other autos at EA were on the SE RR day, but I'm sure they were 100+ bhp. I've got another place kindly offering to dyno it soon, so we'll see how it compares on theirs.
  8. They do indeed look the mutts nuts! It's a bit sad getting excited by tread patterns tho, right?! Still, I'm happy with mine - don't seem to tramline anywhere near as much as the Bridgestone SO3's I used to have. Still don't seem to grab the tarmac as hard as I'd like tho - could possibly do with a blowtorch under each arch to keep them soft and gooey? Good choice tho, I reckon ;)
  9. Whatever you want it to be - it's all guesswork / voodoo anyway ;) I /knew/ you were gonna ask that :) It looks like around 290 at the wheels. Auto-box's eh? BIG drivetrain loss! I reckon Pete left the handbrake on :p FASTREDZ... try http://rides.300zx.co.uk/rides/1204/index.html It's a bit out of date (the engine's /definitely/ back in now!) but you get the idea. The "1000 bhp @ 100 rpm" is a joke, in case anyone asks.
  10. 8244 rpm! - tell me about it! I almost shat me pants when I saw that! :D The power's OK for an initial setup. I'm sure crazy-eddie's thinking the same thing - you get a first figure and expect to keep building on it. He's got more mapping lined up so I'm sure (after being the phattest at the last SE RR) we'll see bigger numbers from his too. CO2 stinguishers :) That's cheating! Maybe I need to hook up a pair of my (patented) nuclear-powered beer coolers to each IC? :D
  11. Depends how good your eyesight is. I'm holding it out the window now... OK? Sorry ;) No scanner here. Monday alright? Or I can do a free-hand approximation!?
  12. It's been a while coming, my rebuilt engine. But apparently, "they only let you drive it when it's ready". SE engines... "never rushed" ;) Short story (even shorter): Pete's made a point of doing the first mapping session on 95 RON (for the yanks, that's "the sh*t stuff" over here). If you've seen the rolling road in Witham (last SE RR day) you'll know there's virtually no airflow directed at the intercoolers and I don't have any kind of IC fogger or trick stuff like that. So charge-air temp is already a problem, using shyte fuel, and kinda demanding boost to be kept low to stop det. Todays result, which I'll be calling my "economy mode" or "safety setting" or something equally low-key, on Engine Advantages dyno (that has a reputation for reading low, but OK for a SE RR comparison), running at 1.0 bar: 432.5 bhp @ 7534 rpm (flywheel) 438.5 lbft @ 4090 rpm It was still making decent power at 8244 rpm - bit hard to tell, but looks like it dropped to around 410 bhp. I'm relatively chuffed. I wasn't really expecting stupendous power at the first session, running on a tank of used cooking fat. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be revving that high! Next week(!) it'll be going back with a tank (/several tanks) of Optimax for session-2 and we'll see how much boost it'll cope with then. Keeping in mind I'm still only running a single MAF, that may get chucked in the bin for a dual-POP. I've gotta also say, Pete's sorted out the wobbly idle and it's absolutely smooth-as-silk to drive. The power comes right in when you need it and just keeps going and going. I'm trying to make a point of letting off slightly as the boost starts coming up because it simply lights up the back wheels if I blatantly bang the throttle to the floor (straight-line, dry, whatever). It's a lot of fun, but I got into a horrible tank-slapper earlier that I didn't think I'd recover from, just trying to get a little drift on from a standing start. The power came up a darn sight faster than I was expecting. Oops. So, yeah... to be continued :) Questions / comments?
  13. Who cares what it sounds like at cold-start? Possibly down to unfinished mapping - mine sounds a bit clattery (not like a diesel) but runs like *absolute CACK* from a cold-start! So I let it run for maybe a minute, then it's fine. It's no big thing. It even says in the Cossie (Saff) owners manual not to worry about the 'orrible noise - that's just forged pistons for you (apparently).
  14. I've got her a stylish pair of concrete boots. Say it with Inter-Assassin ;)
  15. Yeh, cheeky - my car's so powerful... I need a lift to the dyno! Ohh, I get it alright ;) OK, if someone "pulls out" (eeeuch!) then lemme know. I don't wanna be a PITA just for the sake of spectating.
  16. My juicy fresh lemon tasted just like chocolate orange. Is there something wrong with me? I dun'arf fancy a cigar. Is there subliminal messages in this thread?!
  17. Cheeky git. Nah, I haven't (haven't asked anyone else either). I'll keep an eye out for the SMW1 Productions video of the event.
  18. Me? Havin a laff?!... with /my/ reputation?! ;) I got bored of it reading 100 BHP @ 1000 RPM (which was probably right)... I've been waiting soooooo long to be able to quote a real figure, and what with everyone having BHP p*ssing competitions, it got changed to 1000 BHP @ 100 RPM. You could still say I claim to have the biggest estimate! Heck, I may even go change it to 10,000 BHP @ 10 RPM. Really, I dunno what it's gonna make. Ask me in February. If I was a gambling man (I'm not) I'd say it'll be the biggest forum-member BHP to come out of SE in February. How's that for no commitment?! Maybe for a little while, it'll be bigger than Mr Line's (not that he comes on here, does he?) because Pete's not got his mapping round twin-pops technique down yet. We'll see. BHP is all b*ll*cks of course - I can hardly keep it from spinning as it is. Which is nice.

You won't get a great idea how good PGR2 is when you first play it. I found PGR1 annoying as f*ck to start. But when you get into it, it's the nuts. It's possibly the only thing that kept me sane being without my Z for over a year. Need a Kudos meter fitted in my windscreen now tho. Just one word of warning - PGR will make you wanna drive like a tit.

S'cuse me for jumping in a bit late... Xbox, reflashed BIOS, 200GB harddrive. More fun than you can swing a cat at. DVD playback (with or without the official kit), DivX player, MP3's, a stack of emulators... and of course, the ability to back up all your originals(!) then play them straight of the HDD. Leaving one standard is like driving a unmodified Z - fun, but restricted. PS2?.. DVD-R's everywhere? No thanks.
  21. Too slow! In fact, IIRC, my car was supposed to be finished before you'd even bought that 300! Supposubly good things come to those that wait tho... saw a plot the other day that I'm probably not supposed to mention. Nuff said.
  22. Yeah, so like I said, that's gonna be 3 times you've got in before me then! :o
  23. Pffft! I was already behind the bikesheds, can of Tennants Super in hand, fiddling with a generic 6-form slut, and doing a roaring trade in PS modchips. PM is sooooo last year. Txt me dammit!
  24. Talking of which, what happens to all those PMs people write that don't get delivered? Might be nice if they were auto-forwarded to your email address.
  25. Oh man. Don't spend ages writing PM's. Just mail me. Or txt me. I'm wading through the backlog of fan-mail right now ;) What's up people? Everyone OK? I'm running 1.0 bar now... thanks to a retarded CAS (duuuh!). Mapping's booked for Feb! Notice you lot got in there before me, dammit! (Alex, Dave, & a few people not on here).
