Burning rubber
Dunno if this has been up before, but my mate just mailed me it... Irishboys Wish I had tyre sponsorship.

4 Page ROM
Does it work OK with a standard EPROM? Just seems a bit strange because the exact same thing happened when Pete fired up my car after the rebuild... it'd run fine but wouldn't shut off! The only way to stop it running was switch the ignition back on, then it stalled!?! Pete thinks there's something up with my ECU because the car's fine with a replacement.

Just stuff your adapter in the programmer socket, then program 1/4 of the 1024Kbits (256Kbits) at a time.

I get paid way more than I earn. But it's still not enough to keep a Z and a girlfriend happy.

What Modification produces the most increase in power
Hold up, you forgot neons under the car too :D And soddin' great tail-pipes (and lots of 'em) on the back of a 1.1. Tights over your breaklights? Yeah, well... I do live down the road from Basildon.

What Modification produces the most increase in power
Well, I saw an even better one than a big white stripe the other day (at SE, this is!)... a white GTiR with red bits of bodykit... with what looked like a big explosion of yellow flecks down the side, starting at the NSF wheel. Had it been a bit more even, it could've looked like an expensive sunburst paint-job. Unfortunately not intentional tho - he'd run over a can of paint (or puddle of it, or somink). Wish I'd had the camera handy. Go-faster flecks ;)

Marie Curie
Yeah, that's what I'm saying... there must be loads clicking the link for every time you click it once. Shame they're gonna max it out at 20 grand. I reckon, with a crack team of button clicking monkeys, we could've had that number sky-high!

Marie Curie
Nah, can't do. I think you prolly need to click Ajays link, click the MC link, then shut it down and do it over. The quids are rolling up every time I do that, so there must be a heap load of other people doing the same thing.

My knuckle's getting sore. Can I stop clicking this link now?

Macca is trying to buy?
Just an observation... I'd have thought if Macca wanted arse for whatever reason (kicking around, chucking in lakes, whatever) he'd just go right ahead and take it. No need to haggle, right?

Ecu programmers
Asked nicely, several people could supply standard Nissan EPROM contents with the speed and rev limiter altered. And I expect they'd supply that data free of charge.

Little black box
One of them's the in-flight data recorder, isn't it?

I s'pose they charge what people will pay. If it doesn't sell drop the price until it does. So by now that's an *acceptable* price! Their justification is probably the time they spent finding a better, but safe map. It does take the P155 tho, cos it's not like they've put any additional work into making it perform any better lately (have they?). Getting someone who knows what they're doing to do a custom map for your car has got to be the way to go. Or learn how it all works and try sorting something out for yourself.

Ecu programmers
There's people here who've had them de-soldered, but personally, I think the easiest way is to destroy the one in there: cut all the pins, prise out the ceramic then desolder the remaining legs. Sounds a bit violent, and means you'll need another EPROM as well as the socket, but you're less likely to rip out holes or break tracks. I hate socketing ECU's. Someone on here'll probably do it for you tho. Come on, hands up! Altering the speed and rpm limit is easy enough. You'd expect the sort of nice person who's gonna socket your ECU will also have an EPROM programmer. Or, if you fail to find someone here, try a local TV/VCR repair shop. Take an image of the modified EPROM with you on a floppy.

Four-page EPROM
Right, I said I'd stick some details up for how to wire the switch, so here we go... This is what the back of your 6-pin switch should look like: 1 2 3 4 5 6 With the switch in the 'up' position, 1 and 3 are connected together, and 2 and 4. In the 'down' position, it's 5 and 3, and 6 and 4. Start with the 3 wires coming from the 3 pin-20's of the EPROMs and the ECU socket. Wire the top EPROM to pin-2 of the switch, the bottom EPROM to pin-6 of the switch, and the ECU socket to pin-4. Next, wire pin-28 of the EPROM pair (the 5V) to pin-3 of the switch. Run a couple of small wires across the switch between pin-5 and pin-2, and also join pin-1 and pin-6. With the switch up, you'll select the top EPROM (and pull the bottom EPROM to 5V). With it down, you'll select the bottom EPROM (and pull the top EPROM to 5V).

Serial Port Access From VB?
Oh, what a project! Ideal for: "Get of my @rse, Mr Fiesta! If everyone else wasn't driving so slowly you wouldn't see me for dust!". Dunno if I could be bothered wiring up all those LEDs tho
