waxoil or underseal???
Waxoil imo on box sections like sills. If the car is not 100% dry and you underseal it with stonechip you can lock in water/moisture which will cause corrosion.

Low speed issue
Another thing I noticed was my apexi avcr boost controller was overboosting for some reason. I set it up to 1.03 bar the other week and i've tested it for days to see if it would over-boost and it didn't. When I was having these low speed juddering issues, if I seemed to put my foot down it seemed to boost loads and the car seemed to be quite laggy. I looked at my AVCR and it read as 1.15bar at about 6k rpm. I looked at the duty to see if somehow someone had changed it but it was all as I left it. Ideas?

Low speed issue
This is really weird. I thought it was down to dodgy v-power petrol because I went to a shell garage last night, filled up with more v-power and it ran fine. It's ran fine all of last night and today until I've just this second taken my girlfriend to work and it's starting to do it again. It's really hesitant upto about 2.5-3k revs and then it's fine. What shall I look for?

Any ideas? It's almost as if a coilpack has gone and is quite a juddery ride below 2.5-3k rpm at around half throttle. Beyond 3k rpm and it's fine and there is no loss in power either so I don't think it's a coilpack... Could it possibly be my ptu on the way out as I've read a few peoples comments about the car being a bit lumpy and running crap just before it went completely. Don't think it will be dodgy petrol? I've only been filling up with v-power.

Low speed issue
Hi guys, When travelling at low speed say 20mph in 2nd or 3rd gear the car seems quite hesitant really. Seems to have occured since I fitted the boost controller. It feels a bit juddery as though the fuel isn't getting through quite quickly enough if you know what I mean. Above say 2.5-3k revs it's fine and you can't notice it. It also doesn't happen all the time lol. Weird one Any ideas? Chris

Back in the Nissan stable.....
I used to have an s14a and must say I prefer my 300zx. Fair play they are nice cars but the 300 feels so much more planted. The 200's can be very quick and weight a lot less than some. Mine was at stage 2 running around 300bhp. Mine along with a lot of others suffered from a vvt rattle, have you noticed this on yours? Chain driven so no cambelt replacment which is good :) Here's some pics of my old one... Sorry to steal the thread lol.

I'll try changing the start duty all to 0 to see if that makes any difference and will get back to you. It is a good idea to have it setup properly though. Thanks for the advice.

AVCR = installed but a few Q's
I've just been out with the avcr setting for boost turned off and the display on the avcr was telling me it had maximum boost of between 0.50-0.55 bar. This I beleive is between 7-8psi so all is good there. The one thing I did notice is that the avcr has a setting for start duty and that is all set to -25% (minus 25 percent)...is this correct? I followed this guide posted by another user on here... http://www.turbomr2.com/MR2/HowTo/APEXI%20AVCR/Installing%20APEXi%20AVCR-03.htm I also couldn't find what it says "Set Engine RPM-Specific Boost Duty to 70% in each range (Page 24 in the AVC-R manual)."... Is this not just the normal duty setting in the boost screen where you set 1.0 bar and duty below it. Help would be appreciated.

I'll have to have a check. Wheres the most likely place for a boost leak? It's still hitting 1.02 bar though which would indicate there is no leak? It's not hitting 1.02bar until higher revs though, say 6k... should it be hitting 1.02 bar at lower revs? Is it dangerous to run it? As long as it's not overboosting it should be ok because i'm driving to and from work in it!

I've just been out and used that guide. It peaks at 1.02 bar @ 85% duty. If I set it to around 58-60% duty then it will only reach around 0.74 of a bar. 1st and 2nd gears don't seem to get max boost, 3rd and 4th seem to hit it ok. Is this correct? I take it full boost isn't meant to be used in 1st and 2nd. Chris

Installed the avcr today and i've set it up to run 0.9 bar at around 80-85% duty. JDM TT swb slicktop manual The car has the following mods/parts replaced: Bilstein suspension SPL type adjustable upper camber arms Adjustable lower tension rods New propshaft centre bearing Trust induction kit Blitz Access Computer (ECU) Kakimoto cat-back twin system Remote oil filter OE water pump & by-pass hoses NGK platinum spark plugs Full cambelt service Oil cooler I started off with these settings as suggested : http://www.turbomr2.com/MR2/HowTo/APEXI%20AVCR/Installing%20APEXi%20AVCR-03.htm When I was on the road my friend who installed the avcr kept an eye on the avcr screen. When we tried to up the boost to 1bar with around 80% duty it didn't hold the boost at 1 bar or even make 1 bar of boost but it's fine at 0.9bar. Is it just a case of increasing the boost to 1 bar and increasing the duty to something like 100% to get it to 1 bar and hold boost there? If it would help I can go out to the car and type out all the settings I have inputted into the avcr so you can see what is what. Any advice appreciated! Car feels quick though and seems a lot more aggressive. 3rd gear really does pull like a train. Chris

So basically just trial and error after setting it to that basic setting? My ecu was already installed on the car when I purchased it as the car is an import. I suspect the ecu map will cater for jap fuel then. What kinda boost should I be running? 14-15psi on v-power?

AVCR Settings
I'm having my apexi avcr installed and setup on Sunday if all goes to plan. My question is...what settings do I program in and how much boost do I run? The car in question is a 1992 JDM Nissan 300zx TT manual swb slicktop. It's only done 50k miles and had a full cambelt change recently etc. The car is going to have an oil and oil filter change tomorrow to some silkolene 10w50 i think is in my garage... The car has the following mods/parts replaced: Bilstein suspension SPL type adjustable upper camber arms Adjustable lower tension rods New propshaft centre bearing Trust induction kit Blitz Access Computer (ECU) Kakimoto cat-back twin system Remote oil filter OE water pump & by-pass hoses NGK platinum spark plugs Full cambelt service The car has recently been checked out by zedworld and has been linked upto the consult and is running spot on. Any advice?

Halfords look like they sell silicone samco vacuum hosing so I should be able to get some from there. Anymore ideas on the plastic t-pieces? Can't order it online as it won't come in time...need to get it from a shop/retail store. Cheers for any advice.
