  1. Hi Pete and Znut..... thanks for the input...... I will check my compressor cfm..... I have an ulterior motive with learning to media blast as I need to strip loads of guttering at the school I run. The metal guttering has been painted over for years and is flaking off everywhere. We had a quote of £16000 to do it, so I was trying to see how hard it is for my site team to do it instead. If it is viable I shall purchase or hire a full setup for use at work during summer holiday......:whistling: I just need to work out what media, how much, equipment, etc..... I was looking at dustless setup to hire. The school is an old metal clad building (prefab) and has entire exterior to do really..... but no budget nowadays..... So trying to be creative in what work we can do ourselves.... 2 birds one stone type of thing.... school saves money and I get to use equipment for some DIY bits after work....
  2. Right...... where to start..... I bought one of these to strip my suspension back to bare metal and remove all surface rust...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120593509558?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I tried a clarke gun type blaster with soda crystals and found it useless for soda...... Tomorrow I am trying some Garnet on a piece of old metal to test before moving to the suspension pieces.... After the blasting I shall be soaking the parts in Deox-C to remove the rust that remains, before sealing the cleaned bare metal ready for paint or powder coating..... I shall get some pictures tomorrow.....
  3. Targa drain issue? Could be the same as Jeff did a write up on where water corrodes the connector in kick panel area....? Have you got the wiring diagram? Trace all dead circuits back to see if there is a common point where they are all connected to the same live feed and check that point with multimeter. Also check earth to all the same circuits and see if it has lost the earthing?.... As for the loss of permanent and switched with no crank....... sounds like the main feed from the battery has popped a fuse..... I will take a look on the wiring diagram and let you know which fuse to check..... http://www.300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi Check fusible links (small fuse box by bulkhead) and the ignition relay in drivers footwell
  4. Oi....... your in southend and don't say hi.........???........... That's it Dave........ I am deeply hurt now........:slap:
  5. So Sorry to read this Jeff....... our thoughts are with you and your family...... Russ
  6. Well I shall be going to this as my sons birthday party has been moved to his actual birthday day............ YAY....... will see you all there!!!! Unfortunately No Z will be with me...........
  7. I managed to take the N/S front suspension parts to work and jet wash them ready for media blasting tomorrow. Tried soda blasting with cheap gun and gave up with the nozzle continually blocking up. So tomorrow is time to go and get some Garnet abrasive to try out with my new 20 litre sand blaster tank I received today. I am going to test a few types of media and see which fits my needs best..... Trial and error time now....
  8. CHROME!!!!!!
  9. Not keen on the wing mirrors personally!
  10. Been out in the workshop stripping the front suspension parts to individual pieces, ready for some soda blasting and rust removal now...... Roll on tomorrow.......

  12. I prefer the one Enzo Ferrara, a distant relation showing his latest design work. Apparently he is now working for Xzibit on the new series of 'Pimp my ride'..........

  15. Hi Redwine300, Sorry to see this mate...... all the time you put into her..... Have you tried BAZ? Also NemesizX is breaking a Z.... he might have a good one?
  16. Well today I achieved quite a bit..... Jacked up N/S, took off wheels, rear brake calliper, front shock, hub, calliper, drop link, arms, everything.... Now all stripped and ready for some media blasting, then a soak in some Bilthamber Deox-C to kill the remaining corrosion. I shall be sorting the inner arches as well with a dose of wire brush on drill, Deox-Gel to treat any surface rust, a good coat of zinc primer, satin black paint and then some flexible underseal...... Ready for callipers to be stripped and new colour of lacquer installed.... to go with my shiny New Goodridge hose kit, brake pads, drop links and hopefully discs....... loads to do and little time to complete this lot.... lol Oh...... and deep clean and polish of the wheels..... in my spare time..... She does look weird with an empty wheel arch...... Like she is floating in mid air.....
  17. You need this car cover then mate..... lol
  18. I started her up and moved her into the close, reversed back onto the driveway a foot to the left and parked again..... lol Just had to start her and listen to her tick over for 10 minutes to keep me focused on the work needed to get her to Beaulieu........... Saturday is wheels off, suspension strip, brake rebuild and paint, new Goodridge brake lines and clips, fit the speed bleed nipples, bleed the system, media blast all suspension parts, rust preventative measures and paint, finally put it all Back together with new drop links.... Should only take me a year or two at this rate..... I just need to decide on what grooved and dimpled discs to get and where to get handbrake shoes from???? Has anyone got any from ebay, or are they all cheap rubbish? I was looking at 'Conceptua' handbrake shoes and these discs....... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180429755595?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  19. JeffTT was that mean't to be 0.8mm to 1.0mm jets??
  20. A couple of pictures of my hash up till I get time to do it all properly......
  21. Air tight...... best way to build it is floor template, top template, use stand offs to get height and angle, then wrap in stretchy material and fibreglass resin it. Then reinforce the fibreglassed material from the inside layer upon layer, fibreglass outside with a few layers. Fleece blanket works well for the stretchy material..... and cheep to get hold of..... Sand it and cover with matching carpet to boot area to give the oem look... loads of videos on youtube....... search fibreglass sub box.... Or if you need any advice just ask...... Russ
  22. I must admit Maverick has put on some weight since then...........................
  23. Yep........ just nosing through the threads...... lol
  24. I think you miss us all too much Jeff....... lol Great idea..... I'm in....... But don't stand a chance as I am a feckless bodger when it comes to Z's............ lol
  25. So 3 ways?........ fun loving kid, druggy scumbag or sheep shagging?......... lol I think you took the best path Noel......... lol
