Running costs
How do you guys manage to get so many miles out of an average tank of petrol?? 250 is the best I've ever done ... that was plenty of cruise at 80 on the motorway too! That's in the manual I've got now. 300! that's the stuff dreams are made of. In my previous auto one, I was lucky if I made 210-220 .... Could it be 'cos I've only had it 4 months, and even when I'm good on the long stretches I just can't resist booting it elsewhere:D :D :D Don't get me wrong, though, I ain't complaining - it's too good for that, and I didn't but it 'cos it was gonna be cheap to run! CheerZ, John.

How Much !!!!
Tinky, How did you get that quote from Directline .... I just tried it and it came back with 920 quid ... I'm 31 FFS, live in a relatively safe area and have a full no claims bonus (protected). Are you over 100 years old and/or do less than 10 miles a year? It's just that it's renewal time fairly soon, and I thought I might be able to do better than the 550 'ish I'm paying at the mo. People you love to hate !
Surely someone must share my own passionate disdain for our illustrious leader Mr Tony Blur ... Personally, I find his manner patronising beyond belief, and I hate the way his missus is always lurking in the background, grinning like a demented Cheshire cat ... I wouldn't mind so much if we could have a glamorous PM's wife, what is it about British premier's wifes? Now, I've said it, this may well be my last post before the Alistair Campbell's thought-police wheel me off for re-programming.:D

Z spotted
Travelling towards Maidstone along the A20 from Aylesford. Nice black 'H' reg with blacked out rear windows ... seen at about 5.30. Any mid-Kent Zedders like to own up to this? CheerZ, John.

So what would you send to Room 101 ?
Peugeot 306s (driven by those who think their in sports cars:rolleyes: ) ... especially those that can only run if they're 3 inches from your bumper on the motorway, and the ones where you can't switch on the lights without the Feckin foglights!

Nelson How can I gain more MASS
Roy, It's all about cubes, apparently:p LOL ... and how they add up to cubic metres, blah, blah ...... after all, it's not the mass of the muscle, it all depends on it's density. I think! Sorry Nelson, couldn't resist it, it reminded me of a very confusing read on the "old" forum! cheerZ, John.

They seem to like it over on skylark.com .... Still, you have to admit, to any petrol-head, it's a pretty sexy package .... I have to say I wouldn't mind it; albeit it as a second car, obviously! Senna, thought you were "over and out" for this forum ... hmmmm, couldn't resist spreading the gospel accoring to GTR, eh?:D :D :D CheerZ, John.

thinking about nitrous
Yeah, Painted on circles ... well they were in that issue of Japanese Performance, at least. Nice bodykit and wheels, though, may consider some of those ATS planets myself:D :D CheerZ, John.

thinking about nitrous
lloydox, There's a great article in the Sep/Oct '01 issue of Japanese Performance about a pretty tasty 300 with nitrous, plus some general technical stuff about the whole topic :D , I'd suggest you try and get hold of it. Don't know if the owner is on here, but his name's Malcolm. I'd send you a copy of the article myself, but don't have a scanner to hand .. but, you can easily order back-copies from CHP who distribute this fine publication at http://www.chpltd.com . They come pretty damn quickly too:) ... I know because I scanned through them all and bought all the ones with 300 articles in! CheerZ, John.

To decat or not to decat!!
Although this isn't going to be a problem to you, Wes, As a general point of interest, Mike Feeney told me that if you have a '92 or later car, as of next year, MOT stations will be able to tell if the car originally had a CAT fitted ... if it's gone, then no certificate will be forthcoming! Don't know if this is just for UK, if they can't get this information about J-Spec ones, then perhaps it's a compelling reason in favour of import. Anyhow, when I upgraded the exhaust, I went for cat-back, since it's a UK '94. CheerZ, John.

Gone are the days.........
Oh I don't know .... I think it's pretty lively, even though I'm a mere Newbie:( You wanna try drumming up some interest on the Z-Club forum ... it can be literaly weeks before the next post comes along .. don't know about Tumbleweed, there's time for an entire forest to grow. Which is a shame.

Paul, it could well have been .... I happened to be on my way to view a Skylark in Sandgate, when I saw it by the side of the road (in fact, the missus spotted it:eek: ... well done, Luv), and so I pulled over, and instantly forgot about the 'Lark ... plus the extra 10k required;) He told me it had been in AutoTrader, at 8250, and he had it up for 7500 ... so I offered him 7k and he literally bit my hand off. Must have been trying to flog it for a while. Thought for a while there may have been something dodgy about it, but it seems OK ... just been in for "B" service at Nissan, and had the pleasure of being charged 40quid for "straightening the springclip" on the back of the headlight bulb ... 1 hours labour FFS! "Well Sir, we had to take out the alarm" ... "I know" I replied, I did it myself the other weekend in 10 mins ... and believe me, I'm no mechanic LOL. Oh sh-ite, if only Mike Feeney's mechanic hadn't have been so booked up, I could have had it done there, plus had fully synthetic oil, rather than semi ... next time, I'll book well in advance:D CheerZ, John.

Anyone else waste time on petrol forecourt?
Oops, just did a search on Optimax, and realised I may have unleashed a "auto-v-manual" style, can of worms here! Aplogies in advance, but I'm gonna give it a go anyway ... just to see. Mine's a stock UK, BTW, so it'll be interesting to see what it feels like. CheerZ, John. :)

Anyone else waste time on petrol forecourt?
I have to agree with JayPSC ... I used to get "quite" irate with the damn thing cutting out and even ended up getting ridiculously small quantities of petrol at times of extreme frustration. But, I've also adopted the "hold it just inside the hole" method (ooh err) ... this seems to stop it clicking-off, plus I've never once got petrol drenched shoes. But then again, once I get to 50-ish litres, I start to slow right down (usually praying for it to stop soon!). BTW, is there a marked improvement with Super Unleaded? And, can it be used in any Z, even if it's not had any mods done? Sorry if this sounds like a daft question, but I've never tried it. CheerZ, John.

Russtic, It's an "M" plate - haven't seen many others, I must say! Blokey who sold it to me, advertised it as "rare M plate" ... when I arrived and told him that I was more impressed by it being a '94 manual, he replied: "Oh, do they make automatics, then?" ... doh! CheerZ, John.

Japanese imports
Seconded! Thirded ... or whatever ... I agree, Political Correctness is like a plague ... and it only serves to emphasise divisions that, often, no-one had given a second thought previously.

Well, Just to keep those body blows raining in! Mine's a '94 UK manual in metallic grey, with 86k (a little more than ideal) ... and a FSH ... I'm not sure it qualifies as VGC, though, more like GC ... I also paid 7k, about 4 months ago, which I though was a great deal at the time ... now I'm not so sure. However, just to cheer you up a bit, my first one (a '93 UK Auto in Black), I paid 10k from a dealer, exactly a year ago, and sold it a month ago for 6k ... ouch! Should have done my research on here before buying. Good Luck ... I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for! :D  CheerZ, John.

350Z being reviewed on 5th Gear Tonight!
Good spot! Looks a little dear, given that a 12 month wait may yield a cheaper UK-spec (whatever that's gonna be) one. Have submitted a request for more info nonetheless. It's gotta be worth a look, especially if they really are "in stock". CheerZ, John.

You betcha .... there's always something that needs sorting out! But you're in the right place, there's a whole raft of people on here with encyclopaedic knowledge of all things 300 .. it's been a great help to me so far. Well worth the 20 squids! CheerZ, John.

You don't want much, then! LOL All I can say is, best of luck and prepare yourself for a bit of a wait :D :D :D I spent about 6 months looking for a car like that, and didn't even see one half-decent manual in that time... In the end, I thought I'd go for an Auto, since it answered all the other criteria, and was pretty pleased until I finally found a manual by the side of the road with a "For Sale" sticker in her .. which I have to say, I love just that little bit more (no offense meant to those who love Autos):) So, I guess it took about 15 months in all to find the one I wanted, and even then it's got far more miles than I'd really have liked! Good Luck and stick with it, you'll be well pleased when you get there. CheerZ, John.

350Z being reviewed on 5th Gear Tonight!
Dave, agreed ... it was a bit of a shocker to hear we'd be paying an extra 10k, however, I suspect a couple of factors are to blame here: - I would hazard a guess that we're only going to be getting the fully loaded version of the 350 here (think it's the "ST"), much like they did with Z32, versus the many versions available elsewhere. The US I suspect would be getting the "entry-level" version for their 17.5k. - I guess it's also got something to do with out tax laws, rather than just a deliberate policy by Nissan to persecute the UK. However, since I don't really know much about this, I'm happy to be corrected  I think the main thing is that they have actually decided to bring it here, for which, I'm grateful (not to mention surprised) ... Still a bitter pill to swallow, whatever the reason, to know that we have to pay through the nose for our motors here, still! CheerZ, John.

Im sure this isnt healthy!
jeeeeeeeeessus indeed! Having just got back from the gym myself, I'd just like to say thanks very much for that picture ... not! For the record, I'm about 15 stone, and far too scared to look at my body-fat index (suspect it's nearer 80% than 4% LOL):( It just seems that no matter how many million (??) crunches I do, I can't get rid of that dreaded gut ... hmmm, perhaps it's something to do with the diet? Oh well, I paid good money for it, so I suppose I should make the most of it! I'm just off to the nearest hall of mirrors, in a pathetic attempt to make myself feel better! Oh yeah, well done on all that hard work! CheerZ, John (Fat-Boy) Z32.

Saw it too! Nice one. (well, the last 5 mins, at least, last minute errand to the chip shop for the furher ... arse!) Any complete video on-line would be much appreciated. How about "Dunc@bagpuss-whatsit" to host? "Nothing else to compare for the money" ... says it all, really. Forget about the comparisons with the hairdresser's TT, this is a serious sports car. According to the Nissan UK website, we've only a year to wait until it launches here. I'm nipping in to Nissan in Sidcup on Wednesday for the bargain "B" service .. will extend feelers about a waiting list (I want one ... too many miles going on my baby with everday use at present; the future spells weekends only). I'll report back any info I can get. :D :D CheerZ, John.

Top Queer !
Just thought I'd add my tuppence-worth ... Thought the show was pretty good on the whole. Great to see Jezzer back, he's the man .... excellent digs at health and safety, road spending plans etc. Liked the speed camera thing too ... no doubt there'll be plenty of lentil-eaters complaining about it. Good. Just nice to see someone at the beeb not towing the line for the DG and Tony's Cronies. Also agree that co-host was a bit of a t-wat ... calm down there, my boy! Missing VBH, can't agree that she's anything less than a godess. Just the voice is enough to do it for me. Personally, I thought the Lambo was a work of art and the Zonda had been penned by an over-enthusiastic 10 year old ... no denying it kicked-ass on the track, though, and sounded superb. Well worth the extra 150k! Not. Looking forward to the next instalment. Don't forget 350z on Fifth gear tonight! CheerZ, John.
