Seems a strange debate, this one, given that Mr Nukem does actually say "this old model 300zx" - was always gonna be a Z31. Oh well, it is Friday, I suppose!!!:D And Thank God for that!
  2. Sneaky b'stards .... LOL ... I'd like to see the dustbin lorry come along, hook up this bin, and tip the camera into the back to be crushed into a gazillion pieces:D :D In the UK, of course, if they employed this method, they'd have to paint the bin in bright orange!!! .. it'd be obvious:p
  3. Outrageous!!! Staggered back from the pub last night to find that the rear end of my pride and joy had been redecorated in bloody foam! Have these kids no respect!!! (It was even in the exhausts) If that's not bad enough, my missus's SLK that was parked alongside my Zed on the drive - totally unscathed ... Clearly the kids thought they'd decorate the car that looked the most expensive LOL :D Just wait 'til I get hold of their BMXs!!:p :p - Still gives me a good idea for next year's "treats" - bahh humbug, I'll get you little sh!tes ....;)

Mike - Sorry I missed you off the list of attendees .... memory's not what it was, as mentioned previously. Yes, I should think the overflow car-park is a good idea .. let's aim to meet there. I haven't called 'em yet to warn 'em, but may give them a call shortly. Seems like we may get a pretty good turnout - must remember that digi-camera. Look forward to meeting you then. See ya there, John.:D

Funny you should mention that, Herman, but I met one on the M20 this morning. Let him pass me then followed up Wrotham Hill .... seemed a fair comparison an M'reg GTO versus and M'reg 300, both with non-standard zorst (by the look of it). Seemed pretty rapid, but wasn't stretching 4th gear too much .. I think reeling him in was been relatively easy for a while, but I've gotta admit, I did back off at about 125, but he seemed less worried about his licence than I did ... yeah, I lost my bottle:eek: Remembering back to a mate's one, they're pretty damn quick off the mark, assisted by 4wd, but I don't think they go as well higher up the speed range:p Still like 'em though - nice interior - proper muscle-car dash. Can anyone else confirm/deny. CheerZ, John.
  6. Thanks Gio! What a shame they don't support on-line purchasing:D CheerZ, John.
  7. Yeah thanks ... more useful feedback guys:p smw1, those XR2 wheels sound interesting - I've got a mouldy parsnip and half a bag of carrots in the fridge if you fancy doing a swap:eek: .... 13-inch on fat rubber, heh? What aspect ratio do I need, if the car isn't gonna be sitting on it's zorst??? They're gonna need to be at least 335/100 R13's - anyone know where I can get some of those? (Sort of like minature tractor tyres) John.:D
  8. That makes me chain-smoke while I'm viewing/posting:confused: It's official 300zx.co.uk is bad for your health ... John.
  9. For the feedback ... Thinking on balance that it's gonna have to be 5-spoke jobbies. They are kinda classic. Now all I've got to do is find the cash - and I've only done a couple of thou on my 4 new Pirellis! Arse - I should have realised at the time that 16 inches was not going to satisfy:eek: Perhaps if I have an early word with Santa - hmmm, maybe or maybe not! CheerZ, John.
  10. What about Mitsi 3000GT? - I've always had a bit of a soft spot for these ... especially the earlier version with the pop-up lights I'd hope to see the ZX at the top of the poll (as it is) - I can honestly say that when they started coming out in the late 80's early 90's it's the one I always wanted. Maybe I'm biased, since I wanted a 240/260 since I was 4! (1975) - still love all the Zs (although not so sure about Z31:eek: ) John.
  11. Just arrived home to find latest Z club magazine on the mat .. complete with your narrative of the top speed day. Nice to see some quality Z32 stuff in there. Don't get me wrong, I still love the other Z's (having had 260/280), but I've not enjoyed any of them as much as this one!! Nice one for trouncing the Supra:D I'd like to have seen the look on his face as he did his best to catch you up:cool: Clearly, the best Japanese Sports Car - accept no alternatives:D Phew, the power of '89 technology! CheerZ, John.
  12. Wow! 1.2 meg, that some hot Sh1t!! I've got BT Broadband, 30 squid a month, and always on ... once you've had it (plus a working phone at the same time), you'll never believe you survived without it. Couldn't recommend it too strongly ... of course, you do need to be able to access it. There's a postcode test on the BT Openworld website that should give you a pretty good idea:p CheerZ, John.
  13. Yeah, X-Biker, I'll second that! I've driven a fair bit in the Southern Alps, down towards Monaco. In fact one holiday I deliberately set out to drive all the highest passes (the 4 grand cols used in the Tour de France were just next to where I stayed) .. culminating in the Col De Restefond .. 2841 metres high! It was awesome .. only had a Celica at the time but still enjoyed it. Once you get to the top of the Restefond, it seems to drop down in hairpins for ever! (smelly brakes), but the scenery is just fantastic, and the hairy roads were nearly empty (in September) - what a buzz. Can't wait for an opportunity to get the Z there .. although some sort of brake upgrade may be in order:eek:  Failing that, I love the road from Fort William up towards Inverness, and the one that crosses from Foot Augustus to Eileen Doohan Castle. Awesome in winter with no caravans about:D Just watch those sheep! CheerZ, John.
  14. I agree with you guys ... But I must say in Jezza's defence, the 300zx does feature in his recent-ish video, the top 100 cars of all time ... not bad from a Japanese car despiser!! I think it came in at about 93 ... seem to remember he said something like "despite its weight and girth, it's just a bloody nice car to drive" ..... Understatement or what? I too enjoy the "stealth element":D CheerZ, John.
  15. Not really one for this type of debate either, but lest we forget: - Is it not the case that the death penalty is supposed to be the ultimate deterrent? In the case in point, if you're gonna commit crimes of this sort in a state that has the death penalty then expect to fry. Yeah, sure we can argue that on one level (and one level only) it reduces us to the level of the killer, and of course there are always cases of unfortunates who commit crimes without realising the ramifications of their actions on account of sub-normal intelligence , temporary insanity, crime of passion etc. I'm not sure how you can make that case here, though, we're talking about a calculating and cold-blooded killer, obviously well capable of logical thinking. He must have known that he was gambling with his life here, and he lost .... I agree that there's got to be an element of insanity here, thankfully, I think we can all agree that this in NOT normal behaviour, but I still can't agree that this is an argument against using the deterrent that existed before he embarked on this sick spree. On this occasion, I say Fry Him ... John.
  16. Nice one! So, in having fun mode (i.e. thrashing the arse of it), how far did 70 squid go, 150 miles???? Glad it's lived up to expectation .... I still relish the drive to and from work every day (and still go home the long way for those unecessary extra miles:D ) CheerZ, John.
  17. Yeah I saw that .... Couldn't quite believe it when the guy barfed and then got out to walk ... Damon looked totally bemused  "Well, I've never had that happen before" ... looked like fun in there to me (beautiful motor too) .... What do you reckon? Was it that rough, or was old Wrong-Car-Right-Car man just a Pussy?:D That'd be my guess:p CheerZ, John.
  18. Cheers BM, I can imagine from the picture they look pretty special on a Z, they're a tasty set of wheels ... good buy, getting them with the car :D Mine came complete with a set of stock alloys that look like the previous owner had cleaned them with a chain-saw:mad: John.
  19. Perhaps we should take it up with the EVO editorial team:D Sorry to hear about the dodgy spoiler .. I'm on the look out for a decent bodyshop myself .. Luke's a bit to far away in Notts, what with me being a Southern Softy 'an all!:D I'm thinking about going for the post-95 J-Spec front spoiler, as recommended by Mike. Seems like pretty good value at 270-ish squids. Need to find someone who's gonna fit it first, though, 'cos it sure as hell ain't gonna be me .... (Apologies to smr1 for taking his thread well and truly off course!) BTW, Gio, have you given up on the z-club forum, it's as quiet as the grave over there! CheerZ, John.
  20. Hey Gio, The November issue of Evo does indeed have a nice looking Z in it ... what a shame about that tatty spoiler, though!!! LOL:p :p Just joking .... your car proved a fine ambassador in that article:) CheerZ, John.
  21. Nice one Paul, Thanks for that .... will discuss next Sunday:) CheerZ, John.
  22. Guys and Galls, Looking for opinions on aftermarket alloys ... which ones have you seen on Zeds that look the bizzo? Links to pictures appreciated. I'm just not happy with 16 inches (now, I know what you're thinking!!), but it's all about circumference:D As we all know, deep-down! Looking for some 18s, not sure what to go for. So far, have though about ATS Planets (although I can't find a distributor) and OZ Superleggera (although I'm not wholly convinced) - anyone got 'em? So, opinions sought:confused: CheerZ, John.
  23. Hi Stuart, Hope you can make it to the meet next weekend ... the more the merrier:p For the record, I've not been at this game for long either, but I've found Mike at MJP extremely helpful, albeit that he's on holiday for a couple of weeks right now. He does have a mechanic who recently did my clutch and exhaust for me with a minimum of hassle (and more importantly) a minimum of un-necessary cost too ... strongly recommended. Mike's easy to get hold of on the zclub.net bulletin board, BTW. CheerZ, John.:D
  24. Thanks tinky ... Perhaps it's a special bonus extra premium for being a smart-arse and doing it on the net! I don't know, but maybe Bicester's a cheaper (for insurance) area than Maidstone, after all, you do have a lovely shopping centre! BTW, you may even see my zed around there, spend a lot of time in the area (I work for Elsevier Science - head-office in Kidlington), and often have to attend meetings in places like Middle Aston .. it's a nice part of the country. CheerZ, John.:D
  25. Well, in true Timmy-turbo-esque fashion, My own level of boredom is such that I'm off to clean the Zed, despite the fact it's a storm force breeze outside, colder than Hades and about to piss down .... It's a terrible thing this boredom lark!:p :p (Oh yeah - apologies for the lacklustre post!) CheerZ, John.
