what happens when you cross a lotus cortina mk1 with a a ford anglia???
This at my mates garages at the mo Take a rotten original mk 1 cortina, lotus twin cam with a shagged body and chuck it in an anglia with with a shot engine, but with perfect body. send it to Lotus and get them sort it. The result is you get is a fully rebuilt all steel twin cam engine, racing gearbox with uprated gears, racing diff using capri 3l axle, fullly adjustable front and rear suspension. new brakes all round, stainless hoses, and a fully revamp interior. The car had done a total of 2200 miles since rebuild, but less than 25k from new, You name it it has had it, complete rebuild of engine, using new steel crank, pistons, shells twin 40 webbers, etc, if it needed replacing it was. Full engine rebuild engine by Lotus. Body completely sorted and joined togetheer. trust me, this is super clean, and you could eat your diner off it. underneath is as clean as the top. no idea what it goes too, but revs go way past 7k, hits 125mph in 3rd. Proper old skool, Definatley a wolf dressed as a sheep

A zed is saved. (pic heavy)
Sounds like a plan Mr P And Andrew, this time i wont have to play catch up in a van, to keep everyone under control. Since our last run down the A24 across to Brighton we have alot more local zeds, i know of 10 plus in sussex alone, a few who are now members here, give it a couple of weeks, and i will get messaging folk, and get things arranged for a Boxhill to Brighton run, see if we can better the last number of zeds, i think we had in the teens turn up, would be good to get over 20. Watch this space Stu

A zed is saved. (pic heavy)
2 years ago, my tax ran out of the zed, sorned it, and started doing various jobs, whilst trying to save cash and doing all the jobs myself, ive replaced with new interior, suspension, and loads of other stuff. BUT MY Main issue was removing the veilside skirts, and it opened a can of worms. rot in the sills, targas draining into them and what started as small areas of rust soon developed into nasty stuff. After choping it all out, it was getting very worrying, as i thought this is the end of a very late spec UK TT Manual. But after a bit of time, i replaced the inner sills and returns with new, and had them welded up. so at least the inside stuff was good. I made new out sills, for both sides, only riveted as to get the shape. for ages i wanted to get it all fixed as it has to be seam weled for MOT, this i cannot do, as my welding skills are not bad, but i cause more damage whilst trying, and due to money problems the zed was put on hold. During doing all the other bits on the car in my spare time, and saving where i could. i managed to get a pal to finish it all off, so off she went saying goodbye to me. I thought when he got started it would be the zed of another zed, even though i had tried my best to save her. Since late January its been sitting in his workshop, and he does bits when he can between other jobs, but he is doing it at mates rate's plus i do all his plumbing and building work for very cheap. Every week i pop in there to see if there has been any progress, but none or very little had been done, the zed just looked so sad sitting there doing nothing, on axle stands gathering dust. Then last friday it all changed, i visited again only to find one side completely finished, and now doing the other side, but had found a bit more rust that had been unseen. Get a phone call this morning, "stu, your zed is back on your driveway, all done" Like a kid at christmas i zoom home to find my lady sitting there. All new sills both sides, any areas of rust have gone, new targa drains replaced with copper / brass I can now say i have a rot free UK zed, Well chuffed is an understatement, turned the key and she fired into life instantly, a little bit tappy, but this went within 2 minutes. everything working, purring. Need to put the interior and seats back in, and and check everything. but hopefully ready for MOT. Nice to see zeds saved form the scrappy, and be able to live for a good few more years. Stu

fuel pump stays on
good news and some bad. Bad. My zed is at the garage having all new sills and arches replaced by a mate. they have been doing the passenger side completely between other jobs, but for the last month the car has been jacked up on the drivers side wheels only, not been started and no battery connected. Nearly finished the drivers side now, but its now jacked on the passengers side, when they had all four wheels on the floor, connected battery and started instantly, no issues, even took it round the block and made sure all was good. But for some reason, when its turned off, with key removed, the fuel pump is still working, remove battery, all stops. remove fuel relay all stops but connect battery and its is pumping. My question is. IS it possible that when the side was on its side for a time that the fuel pump has got stuck, ie is it a float style pump? is it a sign the pump is on its way out? is the relay on its way or could it be that the fuel pump ecu (under back seat passenger side) is sticking? i read a thread that Dazvert did, and someone had a similar problem and tapped the ecu and it all worked again. Anyone can enlighten? Good side, I have a spare working fuel pump, spare relay and spare ecu, and my zed will be coming home on monday, will all new metal, nice to be able to say i have a UK TT with NO RUST...... Advice would be greatly helpfull. stu
