and i thought i had seen it all.........................
most of you know im a plumber for a housing association, during my work i would say ive seen most things, and very rare that im shocked. well today i arrive at this house, as i walk up the path i can see the curtains look like they have been washed in tea water, the front garden appears to be the missing link like to the amazon jungle. knock on the door, after a minute or so, i hear a grumbled voice "ooooo dat? i reply im here to look at the leak. door opens to be confronted by a bloke i can only describe as having appeared in the film deliverance wearing just a long towel. now this is also washed in the same stuff the curtains have been. i go inside and the pong is overwhelming, old food and open bin bags all over the place. as i stand in amazement how someone coulkd live like this its clear that there is water dripping into the kitchen form the bathroom. Basically it was cleaning the floorboards (no vinly or carpet). i go upstairs open the bathroom door, and find there is about 8" of dirty green water in the bath, to my dis belief i see 3 terapins living in the bath. as im searching for the leak somewhere in there, i can hear tap tap tap, click, click, click, cant think what it is, but can hear it. as i go down stairs the guy is sitting in the chair, with the long towel now raised up of the floor and he is tapping his toenails on the floor, playing a tune lol i ask whats the deal with the terapins in the bath, he replys "its where they live.......... were do you wash then? i ask. in the kitchen sink...........WTF is he joking that sink hasnt seen clean water in friggin years. as its full of crap and plates with mould growing on them. say i cant locate the leak, must be from under the bath and until he clears the terapins out, we can do no more. to which he replies "oh well it will stay leaking then"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF glad he didnt offer me a cuppa.......... How can people live like that

Regular monthly checks
im going to compile a list of things to check on a monthly basis, to help maintain our zeds, then create a sticky to help folks out. Apart from the usual checks we do, water, oil and brakes etc. there are bits that get neglected and over time can cause issues if not looked after. what i want is ideas from members of what to check in addition to normal checks. and a guide of how often to check to give you an idea, some of the top of my head. Item / location issue cause remedy Targa drain tubes all blocked/ damaged wet carpet, rotten sills pour water down them, should drain under the sills Rear Number plate bulbs not working / rusty fail mot ensure holders are fixed to bumper boost leaks poor running loose/ broken go over engine checking all hoses/clamps tight ecu temp sensor poor running high fuel use / rpm clean connector ensure good fitment coil packs running on 5 or less high fuel / running issues make sure pressed down, loom in good condition, and has bolts tight injectors fuel problems / running bad connection, over fueling seated correctly, rubber seal, loom in good condition radiator expansion tank overheating / loss water cracked/ broken remove wheel and check condition, as ive killed 2 due to stupid camber. you get the idea, no matter how stupid you it might be, this list should help us all out, once i have enough details i will create a tick box style worksheet so we can just type in a problem and hopefully show a solution. your input is helpfull. stu

temperamental water temperature
i had similar on mine, after checking everything many times, i was at a loss, turned out to be the expansion bottle had a hole in it, caused by the traction rods not being set correctly and the tire had cut a thin slice in it. As when the engine got upto temp, to prevent excess pressure it should dump some into the expansion, then when it cools it draws it back. but due to hole was losing it. worth checking.
