  1. Well! Following the advice I've received from you guys, I've managed to remove my leaking radiator. I made some ramps up with a more gradual gradient (lol) and got the Zed up high enough for me to get underneath without being cramped. The bottom panel came off easily giving unhindered access to the underside of the rad. (None of the 10mm bolts were rusted in!) I loosened the drain plug, released the bottom hose and removed the bottom section of the shroud. I then removed the two rad top brackets, released the top hose and OUT SHE CAME, easy peasy. :smash: I've transferred the shroud and bottom hose retaining bracket to the new rad and now it just remains for me to refit everything in the morning. (It's too dark to finish it tonight) As a matter of interest the front of the rad was almost totally clogged with dead leaves and other debris trapped between it and the grill in front of it. The cooling efficiency of the rad MUST have been severely hampered by all this junk. I thank everyone on this thread who have given lots of advice and encouragement without which I would certainly NOT have been able to complete this task. I particularly want to thank giant slayer and scubie who both offered to come and help me do the job if I couldn't manage it myself. But by following the advice given, a job which seemed beyond my ability has turned into a straight forward, no complications, success and I would recommend it as a simple DIY task for any owner with a molecule of ability. One last question....how critical is the foam rubber that surrounds and seals the rad as most of it is rotten and falling to pieces? Cheers everyone - Dave

You're right, Google will only find main, fast routes not scenic routes. I just used Google to look for what seemed to me to be a reasonable non-motorway route. Glad you like it, will be interesting to see what it's like in real life.....see you next Saturday. Cheers - Dave
  4. Hi Giant Slayer - Are you not coming via Swindon to collect the wheel+tyre I've sorted out for you?

Have you got Google Earth? I've had a look at it and there seems a reasonable non-motorway route from Guildford:- West on Farnham Road (A331?) to Lower Hale Up the Odiham Road (A287?) to Basingstoke Up the A339 to Newbury Along the A4 via Hungerford to Marlborough Along Free's Avenue via Hackpen Hill to Broad Hinton If you need more detail let me know....I can't find my road map at the moment to quote you the road numbers but I could do it tomorrow if you want it. Let me know.

    Is nobody reading this thread?
  8. You'll find that Interparcel are cheaper!
  9. Get a quote online from 'interparcel.com' I've used them a lot and they are ALWAYS the cheapest price.

Eleven Zeds! That'll be a great meet, I hope you can all make it. It's a great shame Athene won't be there. I recap the details below and ask anyone who has questions to post here. I've been to look at the Crown Inn (SN4 9PA) in Broad Hinton and it seems very suitable. Martin the landlord is very friendly and would welcome us for a Saturday lunchtime meet, the pub is in traditional style and is roomy and the carpark is a good size, I will see if we can have part of it allocated to us. The meet is on Saturday 25th August and I suggest we meet from about 11.00am at the Crown Inn then we can spend some time having the usual natter/viewing/photographing in the carpark before having lunch at about 1.00pm. The pub normally opens at noon but the landlord will open the doors earlier for us if we ask. They do a very full menu from snacks to full meals so I am sure everyone will find something to match their needs. (Sorry the internal photo is so blurred, it would have shown you much of the menu and prices.) He will reserve tables/space for us so I need to know approximately how many will be there. Please let me know now if you expect to be alone or bringing passenger(s) by putting (+X) against your listed name. Cut&paste the list from this post. I've repeated the few photos below of the pub and Hackpen Hill to remind you of the nice location. (BTW remember that Avebury/Silbury Hill is less than 5 miles away so we could also include a trip there if you want....or we could reserve that for a later meet.) If anyone needs directions please ask, but it's also easily found using Google Earth and the post code SN4 9PA. Those of you coming from the South might like to consider taking the Marlborough/Broad Hinton road as it's quite scenic and passes Hackpen Hill (about a mile before the Crown Inn). Any advice needed please ask. If anyone from any region would like to come along please add your name to the list.....even just turn up on the day, we at SC would be delighted to see you. 1) Z32dave (+0) 2) Mattymoo 3) Ianl 4) Gezzmarrelda 5) madmarco 6) icu812 7) moby and Ned 8) Andrew C 9) Eileen & Prof 10) Silverbullet 11) Tryw 12) 13) 14)
  11. Leave........9.00 Arrive.........9.55 ????
  12. I've just emailed them..I'll post here what they reply.
  13. Doesn't the ferry do them?
  14. Thank goodness I am using a standard replacement, not the koyo. I've got an N/A so don't think a koyo is needed. Paul, it sounds easy when you write it but I had great difficulty getting my arm down the side of the rad yesterday when undoing the rad drain plug......I'm not sure I would be able to access the shroud as you describe....and what about releasing the bottom hose? I definately can't reach that from above!
  15. Why not email them and find out? ...........you never know! Can I feel a group buy coming on?
  16. I'm sure there are plenty on here who would show you how to screw (sorry Sarah and mods, I just couldn't resist it)
  17. Look at post 9 by Legrath......he has a link to a US site that charge $120 (£60) to modify yours. Seems a good deal to me.
  18. Sixty squid ain't too bad.....just keep your Zed off the road for a couple of days and the money you save on fuel should do it
  19. Yeah.......what I really need is two short planks about as thick as me :headvswal A good suggestion Giant Slayer, I'll follow it up when (if) this rain ever stops! (See your thread about wheel) Cheers - Dave
  20. I ventured out into the wilds of Wiltshire (my front drive) this morning to sus out my rad replacement..............Begger.... the ramps foul the front bumper so back to square one. :headvswal
  21. Sorry Athene..I've always had problems with ambiguous statements but now it's perfectly clear.
  22. Read your post Athene......."Time of arrival 12.30".......who's the donut now? lol :slap:
  23. Must say I can't understand the '12.30 meet' idea!!! If we are catching the 9.00 ferry it only takes 55 mins for the crossing. We should either meet 10.00 at Cowes or catch a later ferry. Why are we wasting 2 1/2 hours of a potentially great weekend?
  24. Thanks Greg - I'm expecting to have another go at it tomorrow so I'll refer to your post. It sounds straight forward........fingers crossed. Cheers - Dave
  25. Thank you but my roof doesn't need re-roofing at the moment lol, and your spelling looks fine to me :smash:
