  1. Oh God, he's turned into another "fair weather zed'er", we'll have to start calling you "Funky Dave" :D
  2. Maybe not, if I manage to get there, although it's looking quite doubtful at the moment :(
  3. bring the golf.........you can park it next to us in the green micra
  4. I've been doing Pompey to Teeside and back about 6 times a year for 9 years and only ever seen one other zed and that was a very tasty red 'vert that pulled up behind me and my 'grey jap' on a petrol station just outside Sedgefield a couple of years back. Just not as common as you'd think, or could it be that whilst some of us have them as daily drives the majority don't.
  5. No, DVLA told me that 'stick-ons' are illegal, they also stated that if your car is an un-modded (front bumper/spoiler wise) Jap import you could argue the point that your car wasn't designed to accomodate a UK front plate and it affects the air-flow. However, they covered their back by saying they do not deal with points of law - only a judge can do that, so 'plod-on-the-beat' can effectively do what he sees fit as he has no real legal guidelines to work from either....gotta love the legal system in this country  By the way it took me 8-10 months and God knows how many e-mails to various Government departments to get any remotely useful information about this issue - to quote Clarkson - "how hard can it be?" to have a definitive answer to the size of a front number plate.....obviously too bl**dy hard for the UK!! OK, that's my rant over and done for today - sorry, doesn't help you either :(

Yep, much the same for us at the moment, although realistically we're only up for one day, so I'd guess we'll just do the Sunday lunch - but we'll see how things are nearer the time. Either way, hope to meet up with old and new zedders for a Christmas, sorry, festive drink. Cheers, Steve and Ned PS, Dave, "not overnight in an hotel" - does that mean you've caught the camping bug and are thinking of a night under canvas in December  rather you than me
  7. really stupid suggestion - slap me if I'm stating the obvious - but the noise (3) isn't the aerial motor is it?? only mention 'cos aerial on mine was knackered, but the motor just kept on whirring away trying to raise it!!!! Just a thought

quote: chris e boy p.s. it aint the £17 steaks that annoyed me it was the stuck up hooray henries in there.....t*****s. Hmmmmmmm, £17 steaks and :xxx: 'enry's, maybe it's a good job I couldn't make it then!! Queens Head sounds good - Greene King :duffer: , doubt me and Ned would be up for a week-end though, have to see how things go, but as it's the last meet before Chrimbo/New Year it'd be good to catch up with everyone. Cheers, Steve
  9. Sorry I missed this one, amazed you actuallty got anyone turn up in that weather - zed owners don't normally like to get them wet  Glad you had a good time, hope I'll be OK for the Nov. meet, depends on finding a local mechanic that I can trust to sort out the "chattering" engine :( , poss. lifters!!! Cheers, Steve
  10. Is it me, or is "someone" very being quiet at the moment?? I guess she's too busy :duffer:
  11. No worries mate, only pulling your leg!! Almost certain we won't make this meet as Betty now sounds like a tired diesel  See what happens when you start changing things (Gaz and his great ideas  ), don't think she likes the idea of having a baby seat in the back - ah, the joys of zed ownership!! Sure you'll have a good day, hope to catch you all, including the newbies, at the November meet, Cheers, Steve and Ned
  12. Sounds like a good one, got loads on at the moment and "Betty's" insides are in bits at the moment - spread out across the living room floor!!! Won't put my name on the list but if we can get there we will, even if it's in the Micra  Cheers folks, Steve and Ned
  13. Christ, s**t myself looking at photos!!! More chance of me doing the dive with the sharks........maybe!!! Good on her though, got more guts - and far more trust/faith in elastic- than me  Steve
  14. Could've done with someone to that for me today, why is the rachet or screwdriver never quite within reach!!! Couple of awkward bits to do with the tailgate struts - needed to remove rear window panel to drill mount holes, but refitting the struts was a real 'pita' still, all done now and thankfully the mount points were all present. Also remembered to check my targa drain pipes while the panels are out - they seem OK, which is another relief. Right, off for some '6X' - a proper pint  Cheers mate, Steve
  15. Yeah, legally p***ed, honest officer!!!
  16. Quick thank-you to Martyn for the 3-point rear seat belts, arrived as agreed and are now fitted  Not just about supply but also very grateful for all the discussions and assistance involved - a true gentleman an 'skolar' Cheers, :duffer: Steve PS, not forgetting 'Hellraiser' for the initial advice on seat belts :duffer: - you know, that "special" Becks
  17. 'ave a good 'un mate :duffer: did post on the original "happy birthday Scotty" thread, but it appears to have disappeared........................ :smash:
  18. I knew there had to be other club members around here!!! Hope to catch up at a meet sometime - I know there's one today, but I'm working on my 'girl' today :headvswal But maybe next time. Cheers, Steve
  19. Had crossed my mind that it was you, but I know of at least 3 red's in the Portsmouth area, but I don't think any are members on here, which is a shame.
  20. One travelling towards Rudmore r/about (near Ferryport) and one in the Tax office (ooooh, errrrr :( ) car park at Cosham. Both around 5.30 pm. Always knew 'reds' were 'common' :p Come on people, keep seeing 300's around Portsmouth, surely one of them must be owned by a club member!!!

Welcome to the club, another South Central person  Got some bits on my'girl' that need sorting out, so I'll be interested to hear of any decent bodyshops in this area - Hampshire. Always best if you can get personal recommendation based on experience. Cheers, Steve
  22. Awwwww, soooooo harsh - and on a newbie as well  , still at least she's got the best colour zed  Welcome to the club Zara, don't worry, you'll get used to the banter.............after a couple of years!!!
  23. some 'loverly' cars there - including a very sweet looking 300 convertible (anyone on here???). Sorry I wasn't there, only got home from hols late Saturday - but I hope to be at the next one, however, the 'Mrs' spotted the 2 Micras, so I may be in hers and not the zed
  24. Good grief, I was expecting trouble from my "Mrs" now she's expecting, but even she didn't suggest selling the zed  .......... and she really doesn't like the car at all  My original answer was "sorry, zeds just not suitable for a kiddie seat" - almost got away with it too.....then met up with Gaz (Hellraiser) recently and he suggested replacing rear lap belt with three point rears........... and he said it in front of her, bless his 'cotton-eyed' socks  Hence, I'm currently trying to sort the conversion out (cheers Yampie) - plenty of cars being broken at the moment so parts are around and cheaper than another car!!! Good luck mate, hope you can find a way of not selling, remember that in 7 months time you'll be able to have the 2 kids in the back and the wife back in front. Congratulations though, Cheers, Steve
