Lighting Issues...
Evening Punters, As predicted by my Wife, my simple DIY attempts have resulted in a roadblock. In summary: With my rear courtesy light failing to work, I removed the cover and the bulb fell out. "Result! This will be an easy fix..." (italics for the internal monologue) With much confidence, I reinsterted the light (which looked LED-ish and NOT halogen) and SPARK! CRACKLE! (dropped the bulb rather hastily). As you can probably guess, since this attempt resulted is my understanding that these bulbs have polarity, my front courtesy lights and stereo now refuse to work (although the power aerial still does). Given my limited electrical understanding, what is the most likely outcome here: Blown fuse in fusebox (it is not the stereo, as I have checked the 10A fuse in there and it looks fine e.g. no breaks) Blown bulbs in ALL couretsy lights. Give up, take car to auto electrician and heed Wife's advice at ALL times. Also, am I to expect central locking as standard on a 95 TT? If so, that is another electrical gremlin to chase...

Slow Seatbelt Return
Given the impending dark evenings, I started the process of sorting out my "slow returning" seatbelts. After being advised that Sillicone spray would solve my problem, I had a good look at the belt and belt area to see how I would be able to spray the belt itself. Here is a picture of what I found... I guess that answers why my return is so slow...same setup on the passenger side too. I am thinking this is "not normal" and I need to remove the panel to make sure the seatbelt sits "outside" the trim...? If so, any special tool need to remove the trim or is it just matter of removing the screw(s) that hold the trim in place? Answers on a postcard! Thanks, Phil

Speedo Cluster for 1995 TT
@JaiKai - when you say "mine" do you mean yours to keep, or might it be for sale (from the rolling shell) ?!?!?

Speedo Cluster for 1995 TT
Here is the dash with lights on and lights off I will take a picture of the back of the clocks when the Mrs is "out". If she sees me heading into the Garage with a screwdriver, I will need a trip to A&E to remove it...

Speedo Cluster for 1995 TT

Speedo Cluster for 1995 TT
Nick, noting wrong with the clocks except ... an aftermarket speedo dial has been stuck on and the lighting it all wrong. The speedo does nto show up in the dark...pictures to follow! If the clocks don't need changing, then I won't! Still in the "advice" phase of ownership!

Japspeed Exhaust
Greetings! Just removed the following from my 95 TT Auto as it was "louder" than stock and I am trying to keep as OEM/Stock as possible. It is in good condition and I can vouch for the "enhanced" noise it makes, as can a number of drivers on the M25 and M4! Open to sensible offers around the £250 mark (plus carriage). If you wish to collect, I am based in Kent. I will also throw in the "gorgeous" carbon-fibre effect slam panel if you make a charitable donation to the Dogs Trust! TT4N, Phil

1995 TT OEM+
It's home! Picked up from Jimmer yesterday - despite the 3 hour journey home and a faulty Speedo convertor, it's now garaged up. Will post some pictures after my daily chores! Can now start the small jobs such as new Speedo, new kick plates, bodywork, new stereo and new wheels! Winter is coming...😏

Speedo Cluster for 1995 TT
Morning, Punters! Looking for a Speedo Cluster for my 95 TT. Current one is fine but has a DIY hack to convert it to MPH (stick on speedo dial which doesn't light up properly). I know @JaiKai was offloading his rolling shell but not sure if he kept the clocks! Thanks, Phil

1995 TT OEM+
Picked the car upw from Lewes this morning and drove 130 miles to PowerZed. No alarms and no surprises, as a great man once sung...! Nervous weekend ahead whilst Jimmer does a 120k service and inspection. A new exhaust is in order as the current one (possibly a JapSpeed) is just too loud (for me). Keep an eye out for it in the For Sale section! Bose Sound System still works well but brakes nay need an upgrade as I'm a bit Larry Leadfoot. Overall, first impressions are good. Still not sure about these 'items' even though Jimmer says they are much sought after in the US...the wheels may need to change as well!

NEC 2025 - free wristband offer for manning the stand

1995 TT OEM+
As promised, will try to document the journey of Z ownership interrupted...my TT Auto being sold in 2008. Here it is in all it's pre resto glory. It is a 1995 TT 2+2 Auto with circa 69k on the clock. There is "some" history but nothing comprehensive. Mechanically, it appears sound - started on the button from cold and warmed up nicely with no noticeable smoking from the exhaust. It appears to have had a new exhaust and 18" wheels - which will both, more than likely, be returned to stock (parts availbility permitting). There are a few mroe Z Centre bits of bling that will need to go as well - kick plates and chrome cials for example. First order of business is a full 120k service and check over at Power Zed with any alarming issues being addressed ASAP. It is then my intention to follow an OEM+ style resto (no Fast and Furious fan here - Think more of a Kill Bill style Fairlady Z). I will probably re-trim where approriate (door cards are a good place to start) and ultimately look at a re-spray - silver was not my first choice, but I can see its charm... Early days but am carrying a lot of hope and enthusiasm which will no doubt evaporate at some point!

Potential New Z - Import from Japan 99 TT Auto
Afternoon All, After a few aborted attempts to get myself a Z in the UK, I have turned my attention to the Motherland! Have found a potential candidate, and wanted to throw it open for some comments (seeing as I have asked Jiimer twice about potential buys, and not followed through on either!) I'd be happy to hear comments and any advice about the whole Japan import process - am looking to use either Algys Autos out of Bristol (bargain basement) or Torque GT (premium, but have not had a price yet). The car is 1999 TT Auto with 63k KMs and full history. Price to the uk will be about 18k all in (before a mechanic get's his hands on it and tells me I've bought a lemon!). The pics are a bit low res, but will hope to get some more when I have get close to concluding negotiations! Thanks for reading! Phil

Underseal Recommendations
Morning Forumites/Zeddites/All (delete as applicable), Am working on something "new" as my previous project did not "pan out". Without giving too much away, what would the recommendations (products and workshops) for undersealing be? Seeing as post 95 models don't have any, I wondered what others had done to address this issue and what they had found by doing so. Virtual coffees supplied for helpful comments! Thanks, PhilD

Return of the, erm...
Just a quick update - yearly sub has been paid. Hoping to start a journal for the car next week...! Apologies in advance for the stupid posts and lack of "searching" old posts! 😏 Oh, how I have missed the "special" odour of those wilton carpets! Phil

300ZX Advert - comments...
Done and done. Subject to a thorough garage inspection next week, it should find a new home! Lots of history to share, which I will do once it is bought and paid for. Too late for Sunday, but will be there for the next big meet. Thanks for the input! Phil

300ZX Advert - comments...
Hi All, Long term member, looking to get back into the saddle againt. So...I've found this example. I've done some basic investigation: It has done 60kish miles in approx. 10 years. This does not put me off as I am not looking for a "garage queen". There is a fair bit of "red ink" in the MOT history mainly for "Exhaust carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle exceeds manufacturer's specified limits (8.2.1.2 (a))" and "Exhaust lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits (8.2.1.2 (c))". There are also some suspension bush warnings. This does give me cause for concern. I know it is "cheapish" at 9k, but I am prepared to do some work getting it up to spec and keep it stock. I want to have a nice, usuable exmaple. Before I make a fool of myself, what is the general opinion from the forum? Thanks, Phil

Return of the, erm...
Good morning all, I previously owned (2003-2008) a Black 92 GCZ32 (D15SUM) which I sold back in 2012. I was an active forum and meet member "back in the day" (I remember Andy Duff/Duffman, AndyP, MikeGroves, MAC, Jeff @ Zedworld and Silvia Engineering in Maldon/Whitham) but life got in the way! Am now looking at getting back into a long held ambition of a late model TT (Auto, as I am a LAZY, LAZY man!). I will setup another thread, as I have found something that screams "RUN AWAY!" but can't shake the feeling I need to investigate! Thanks for listening/reading! Phil

some folk are missing the point
Does the Content Filter still pick up "Andy Duff" or "Duffman"...? :crying: - guess this post will find out! Hope everyone appreciates the trip down Amnesia Lane!

Toyota Supra twin turbo
I had a late model VVTi TT Supra (98 plate IIRC) - I just found it underwhelming and not as soulful as the 92 J-Spec 300 ZX TT I had. I remember doing ride outs with the Evo lot in the early 2000s - the Zed ALWAYS drew more looks and nods that the Supra did. Many a furrowed brow and respectful nods when they tried to pull away on the motorway...TBH I would not compare the Mark IV (started production in 92) with the Z32 (kind of peaked by 92) as they are from different eras, even though their dates overlap. Mark III and Z32 are much more comparable (with the Z32 still being better). That said the Mark IV was INSANELY tuneable - just remove the restricter ring from the exhaust and you have 400BHP, along with ceramic turbo fins flying out of your exhaust. :w00t:

1997 Midnight Purple Twin Turbo Showroom Condition
It is with great regret that I must pass on this car, much to the distress of my other half. I have an "old man's burden" to off-load before I could purchase this great example of a late model TT Z and did not want to extend the already wonderful courtesy that Garry had extended to me. If you are looking for a late model Auto TT - this is the one to have. My reservations about "Midnight Purple" where completely blown away by actually seeing the car - even in the gloomy light of a freezing Mid Feb day. I have been looking for over 12 months and this is the best example I have seen by far. I feel qualified in saying this as I have actually seen the car in the flesh and driven it. I always think it is best to actually examine something before passing comment :glare: I would say GLWTS, Gary but this example does not need luck. PhilD

TV output card
Vijay, Look for a replacement VGA card with S-Video out. That is your best bet for quality, otherwise it will be a Pinnacle type card. Phil.
