  1. I had a late model VVTi TT Supra (98 plate IIRC) - I just found it underwhelming and not as soulful as the 92 J-Spec 300 ZX TT I had. I remember doing ride outs with the Evo lot in the early 2000s - the Zed ALWAYS drew more looks and nods that the Supra did. Many a furrowed brow and respectful nods when they tried to pull away on the motorway...TBH I would not compare the Mark IV (started production in 92) with the Z32 (kind of peaked by 92) as they are from different eras, even though their dates overlap. Mark III and Z32 are much more comparable (with the Z32 still being better). That said the Mark IV was INSANELY tuneable - just remove the restricter ring from the exhaust and you have 400BHP, along with ceramic turbo fins flying out of your exhaust. :w00t:
  2. It is with great regret that I must pass on this car, much to the distress of my other half. I have an "old man's burden" to off-load before I could purchase this great example of a late model TT Z and did not want to extend the already wonderful courtesy that Garry had extended to me. If you are looking for a late model Auto TT - this is the one to have. My reservations about "Midnight Purple" where completely blown away by actually seeing the car - even in the gloomy light of a freezing Mid Feb day. I have been looking for over 12 months and this is the best example I have seen by far. I feel qualified in saying this as I have actually seen the car in the flesh and driven it. I always think it is best to actually examine something before passing comment :glare: I would say GLWTS, Gary but this example does not need luck. PhilD
  3. GazWoz, Am very interested - will call you later today to chat. Phil
  4. Derek, PM Sent. Phil
  5. Vijay, Look for a replacement VGA card with S-Video out. That is your best bet for quality, otherwise it will be a Pinnacle type card. Phil.
  6. Angus is right. Regardless of whether it has an MBR or not. XP should see it and assign a drive letter. If it does not, then assign one via the Disk Manager Snap In. TBH, it will prob be a bit more involved than that and you will need to image that backup onto a new drive for your laptop, using something like Ghost. If you need more help, feel free to PM me with your number and I'll talk you through it. Phil.
  7. Mac, Indeed I am! Thanks very much for the Birthday congrats...feeling every one of my 34 years! As for my hobbies, are you telling me you have never "stabbed the cat"??? If not, try the following when on your own: 1. Place yourself in front of a full length mirror, preferably in front of a chair. 2. Sit in chair. 3. Imagine you have a lovely cat purring contentedly (sic) on your lap. 4. Look down lovingly as said cat whilst pretending to hold a large kitchen knife in your hand. 5. Proceed to make stabbing motions with knife hand towards cat. 6. Look into mirror whilst doing the above. What does it look like you are doing??? ( :xxx: )
  8. I'm in fot this. Good time to show of the new work that's been done...Anyone in for convoying up the A2? Phil.
  9. Dave, It appears you have replaced the GINA with a non-standard one. If this were XP or 2k there might be a chance of recovering. I have a version of Vista running, but do not know enough about it to start recovering shite-d installs. i'll see what I can find. Phil.
  10. Sounds to me like the attachment has got corrupted in some way or it is confusing the three letter file extension with Winamp. this can happen when an attachment comes through with a DAT extension. Outlook/Exchange has a habit of doing that sometimes when it get's a mail from a non-Exchange server. I'd suggest saving the file to you C Drive and seeing what three letter extension the file has. HTH Phil
  11. Am over in Maidstone, but I think Steve E (500BHP+) lives over that way.
  12. Danny, It appears to be the case! If you check page 5-19 of your Motherboard Manual, it show you how to enable RAID on your SATA controller. You will need to have RAID disabled to allow the controller to see these drives as stand alone. Incase the manual is not to hand: 1. Boot the system and enter the BIOS Setup Utility (this is the Motherboard BIOS, not the RAID Controller BIOS) 2. Go to Advanced>Onboard Devices Configuration and make sure the Onboard Promise Controller Item is Enabled. 3. Set the Operationg mode to anything other than RAID. 4. Save changes and exit setup. This should allow the PC to boot and see the two drives as separate entities. You will not need to enter the BIOS of the RAID controller as you do not wish to setup a RAID array. Give me a bell if you need a hand (07768 065781). Phil.
  13. IIRC, some Motherboards have a BIOS setting for the SATA contoller to be in RAID or Non-RAID mode. A recent bunch of Dell Workstations I built an image for where just like that. I am downloading the manual for the MB in question to take a look at it (the ASUS site is just sooooo slow!) and will report back when I know more. If you wish to contact me in the meantime, please feel free. Phil.
  14. There's a couple...can you give me a few more details? Phil.
  15. Glyn, Thanks for making me look my fattest ever! Must have been that Safeways/Morrisions brekky that did it! Phil.
  16. Smith, I am in Maidstone (about 10 miles away). Give me a shout on 07768 065781 and we can chat. Phil.
  17. Glyn, If you want a lift up, drop me a line. Phil
  18. I know the way...have done the journey enough times! Nice blat up the A12!
  19. Oh, go on then! It's been a while... Glyn/Paul, Do you want to convoy up? Drop me a line if you do. Phil
  20. For what it is worth, I have owned both a Supra and 300ZX (still got that one). IMHO, the Supra (98VVTI TT) was a very well put together car. It had great potential and in my 6 months of ownership was very reliable. My main reason for selling was it just did not move me in the same way as the 300 did. I would look at the Supra and 300 side by side and always reach for the 300ZX keys when I wanted to feel good! That probably reveals more about my curious personality than the actual cars, but hey-ho! I would say that the Supra appears to be much more reliable because the vast majority of them are M reg (94-5) and above. The vast majority of 300ZXs are K reg (92) and below. That would explain why so many Zs appear to require "regular" maintenance. That said, they do need TLC as would any car that is over 10 years old. I'm sure there will be a rash of Supra problems in the next year or so when they reach the stately age of most Zs! HTH Phil.
  21. Indeed they do! The Petrol Pump Icon should glow orange when very very low....it's none to bright on mine, TBH, so it might be a job to see in daylight. Phil
  22. Gio, We know this already but here states: "Just to mention for the record: the reason to switch from the ActiveState Perl to the Cygwin Perl was that the Active's "fork" stoped working after I installed the SP2 for XP." Phil.
  23. Gio, Is this box running in a workgroup or domain? Phil
  24. Guys, I had a quick gander at the PC and it appears that the dialler has been removed. The reason it will disconnect the Broadband connection is that if you use a ADSL Modem instead of a router, the ADSL connection does act like a dial up connection and can be terminated like a normal dial up connection. Any dialler would first drop all exisiting connections before it initiated its own call. (That reads very badly, and I apologise for it - too many "connections"!) Leigh did have the MSBLASTER virus as his RPC Service was set to "Restart the machine" if the service failed. Phil.
  25. But just ignore him if he keeps talking about his "precious"....;)
