Headlight conversion, what have i done wrong?
Right, I had a headlight bulb go out last week, so I decided to replace them both like you do, I was originally going to order up some H3C's, but decided to do the conversion jobbie with the H3 type as in the picture... I had drilled a small hole in the plate and countersunk it also to ensure a good contact before soldering an earthing wire to it, with a spade connector as the picture shows, I did this with both obviously. Then I fitted the modified bulbs and connected them up to the connector block, earth to earth and live to live. When I tested the lights, all were on, the side lights, dipped and main, but the main was only as bright as the dipped lights, then I lost the two 15amp fuses, and lost all lighting to the headlights. On replacing the fuses I blew one immediately on turning on the lights, this was the LHS fuse and the LHS bulb was out also. Where have gone wrong, do I just replace my fuses and order up a set of new H3C's, sounds the easiest solution.

Loosing brake fluid
I've just changed my master cylinder a couple of months ago, if it is your master cylinder you should see the lost fluid is leaking below it or where its been leaking down the servo, seals wear inside, you can get a replacement seal kit, or get a new master cylinder, now I was going to replace the seals but was told that once they've gone the first time the piston could be scored ie permanantly damaged, so new seals would still leak, and that it's best to just get a new ms. I got one from a low mileage breaker for £125, fitted it and end of problems, if you do get a used one, be sure it's from a low mileage car or you'll probs get a worn one, or get a brand new one, but pricey.

Nissan have my Zed - I'm scared!
You should have had it towed home and did the job yourself, its only a belt, and for something as simple as this, you'll pay over the odds for the belt and labour charge on top. I'd be there early monday morning and tow it back to do the job yourself before they start, you could order a drivebelt from any motorpart shop for under £20 I'll bet.

J-spec Headlight bulbs, wtf?
Right, I've got a headlight bulb out, so I removed it and took it to halfords to get a new set, the guy in the shop raised his eyebrows and said he's never seen anything like it. So having tried a few more autoshops etc, same story. Heres a picture of one, anyone know where to get a new set from, or do I need to order a set from nissan?

rear wobble? Hicas?
In addition, now that I've been paying close attention to whats going on at the rear, I've noticed a light knocking sound also, suspiciously like the knock of a worn ball joint, So I'm thinking Chris knows his onions on this one, I think a call to MJP is on the cards. Thanks.

Question about replacing turbos
I would probably advise you do the injectors with the turbo, as you might run risk of injectors maxing out?

rear wobble? Hicas?
Ok Mark I'll try on a set of 235's and see what the difference is, worth a try as I happen to have a set here. Chris, sounds the same, I'll check that too when its jacked up, wouldn't I get lateral play in the wheels due to this also?

rear wobble? Hicas?
Ok, firstly this only occurs if I go over a bump or something, other than that its a sure footed handler. Tyres are Bridgestone with 265 rears and 245 fronts, wearing evenly, I get no understeer at all, and oversteer is basically how much do you want when you want it, so to me this is perfect as I like to drive the zed, my car can usually be seen with the rear end out on most bends and roundabouts in the Sunderland area lol. Suspension are not standard, they are Tein, struts and springs, not coilovers. not adjustable in any way, however I do get a lot of 'afterbounce' which does sound like suspension might be away, just been out to have a bounce on the front and they pretty solid, but the rear is very bouncy, so this might just be the bogey. Thats now new suspension to add to the shopping list. yeah! However today I will jack up the back end and check for lateral play to be sure. Thanks once again guys, you are like a fountain of knowledge.

rear wobble? Hicas?
Righto, I'm getting what feels like a wiggle coming from the rear, yes that sounds funny I know, but seriously guys....... Now, the best way to describe this is that only at speeds over 40 or so whenever I go over those painted lines that you usually get on approach to a junction, you know the ones? ripples, cracks or even cats eyes if I hit them right, I'm getting a weird steer from the rear feeling, kind of wobbles about and I find myself gripping the wheel to fight it ffs. So I'm thinking is this could be a problem with the hicas, the hicas light doesn't come on, only apart from when you switch the ignition on and goes off when engine starts, which is normal, which also means that the steering fluid is ok. so the hicas theory is out. So could this be a worn bush, or something? Also don't know if this is related but I'm getting a feint diff noise occasionally, not all the time. Any ideas?

Turbo s
Get a decat exhaust, for best results. The best way to check if your tubbys are away is to check for the tell tale smoke from the exhaust, a worn out turbo = white smoke. You can always replace or recondition the turbos later when they need it.

Missfiring problem continues
Right, missed that post, and yeah I do know. Looking like it could be anything this the way people are chucking ideas in. This whole thing is sounding like a dodgy injector to me, can they block up partially for any reason, or maybe just stop working? This is looking like a case of fuel starvation, which is bad, my moneys on the injector(s). Get new ones, or used ones that you know work, and whats the problem if its NOT the injectors? at least you'd have eliminated one possibility.

About the turbo's, what is the maximum boost that the stock turbo's are capable of producing?
