TT BHP Debate
Solid lifters, I think they good hand in hand with some of the harsher cam applications! Someone please correct me if I am wrong! Cams, can make the idle very lumpy and believed to be only of real application above 600BHP! Can be timed using vernier pulleys to reduce lag or top end power depending on what you want to use the car for! Rebore, practically useless in gaining any real power! Only 1 in 3 blocks are meant to have thick enough cylinders to take the 3.1 rebore, can be strengthened using epoxy though and the top edge of the bore can be strengthened as well! These can be tested by ultrasounding to check cylinder thickness, one cylinder modification is to knock out the core plugs and clear away the old water channel flashings around no.4,5, and especially 6 cylinders! Port and Polish/three or five angle valve job, meant to reduce lag and increase BHP got mine done along with the heads skimmed and valves lapped in at CTM in Ilford for £400 cash all in super price! Might as well be done if you have heads off! Metal head gaskets, can be used in various thicknesses to reduce compression ratio for higher boost! Meant to be tougher than stock although many people doubt this!!! Lightweight pulleys great if they are harmonically dampened and of the original diameter of the stock item, the only one like this is made by Fischer! If they are not dampened then the resulting resonation can damage the crank and give unpleasant reverberations in the engine bay! Underdrive pulleys are a reduced diameter pulley for race apllications where it is believed the high rpms you are subjecting the ancillaries to wear them out, in a stock car this means your alternator is doing more work and your water pump is not moving water as designed so a higher engine temp can result! I thought Stillen already had one of these charts done!

- Manual boxes
Hi Andy, The ratios are exactly the same, there is a rumour that the shafts are hardened but nothing confirmed and many people in the states have done this with no problems:D Mark- Reagrding 1 piece aluminium manual driveshaft
How much more BHP/Torque is released by having a CF prop then?- Useful Programmes
Whats Winrah- Computer HELP
Cheers guys!!- Useful Programmes
With all the IT Expertise on here, I was wondering what software people recommend and any programmes you have found particularly useful, apart from windows:p- Computer HELP
Hi, Having problems downloading any new programmes to my puta! Have only about 10% disc space left if this could be an issue! Have tried reloading windows XP! When I try to install any new software it comes up with Error 1606 Could Not access network location .AllUsers\. Help Appreciated!- SE RR day BHP Correction!
Hi, Measured my RWHP on my S13 tonight with a Gtech meter, which is meant to be one of the most accurate ways of measuring RWHP! SE RR Day RWHP 199 Gtech Meter RWHP 230:D :D :D I have corrected the ingnition timing slightly since the RR day, but I doubt if it would make 30BHP difference! Seems to tally up with what most people said the RR was inaccurate by!- Anti-freeze.
The reason why it is detrimental, is that it takes more thermal energy to heat water to the same temperature than antifreeze, so it better at cooling your engine! Antifreeze has other qualities like reducing the surface tension of water so that boiling vapour bubbles can reenter the water and exit at suitable trap point and antifreeze hightens the temperature at which water boils which is also desirable! Somewhere between a 30-50% dose of antifreeze is suitable depending on the temp of where you live!- Honourary Members you decide?
Yes, I should have said this would only be open to people who would not otherwise be members! Of course we should include Craig in this he no longer has a Zed and yet continues to assist with the running of the club, who said Insanity is doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results!!:D OK then lets start some Parameters for who should qualify for membership! 1. People who been long term contributing members of the forum and have sold their Zed. 2. Well known international Zed experts who would probably not even dream about paying £20 to join our forum! E.G Lymon, Henri Le Hir, Mike Kojima! This would also give the club a higher profile internationally, which when you want to buy those turbos from the US might come in handy and also give our traders a higher international profile! These people have nothing to gain by being members of our Club and everything to give! Even ex members like Roy, if someone on here wants to get a Poopra (god Forbid),we have someone who can introduce us to Poopra contacts, (sounds like a go lightly swingers mag).:D- Honourary Members you decide?
Hi, In my efforts to think of ways of expanding the club, along with my other Hobby of sitting alone in the dark:eek: ! I had an Idea! There are many "experts" on tuning, zeds and ex members that could and have contributed more to the forum, than they have given! An example of ths would be Lymon, he always crops up on the difficult question and gives you the answer! A person who may have never even heard of our forum may be Mike Kojima, he has tuned a Zed for Sports Compact Car Magazine in America and he tunes other cars for them as well! He has written many interesting articles on tuning Zeds! Another person is Hairsy he has contributed to the forum for years and has sold/selling his Zed, and it would be a shame to lose contact with him! Big Roy might be another, let us say we should keep him around because we need a poopra owner, so that when we have a bad day we have someone to take it out on!! Your choice guys, try and think of the long term and we can always revoke their membership if they don't contribute! A lot of these people can save you money on your zeds through their advice and give this forum a bit more of an international flavour!- Air Intake question?
Thanks Lymon, Where does the water go because I don't remember any outlet on the pipe?- courtesyparts.com
Apparently a better source of parts is Cos at Ginnmotorsports, or even our illustrious MR feeney at MJP on the trader section who said he will match Courtesy prices!- Server News
Just to let you all know we now have our server back (now Updated) at Mike Groves!- Banzai are featuring an article on the club!
Just to touch base, do you guys want to put something together, maybe give me a ring and we can have a chat about it?- Air Intake question?
Hi Steve, I don't think they are, this on the NA engine! These holes are on the underside of the air intake and seem to bypass the filter going to the air intakes by the arches - Air Intake question?
Removed the front end of the convert and fiddling around with the air intakes!!! Noticed after the airfilter as each pipe goes to each bank, there is a piece of pipe that ataches to it and bypasses the air filter and goes straight to the air inlet? What is this for?- Turbo and ECU info
Bodgesport Stage II chip T28 @15psi Norris Designs FMIC Mongoose Exhaust 440 Injectors K+N Filter :D :D I should add on my S13- Att. of PaulC
Hi Paul, Just going back to the RR day! Noticed they had a bit of trouble sorting your BHP/RWHP figures! Out of interest I know the Gtech meter you have gives you RWHP figures for your car, how did these two sets of figures differ!- Reagrding 1 piece aluminium manual driveshaft
I have heard the reason Nissan used a two piece drive shaft, is that it is stronger than a one piece! The disadvantage with a one piece driveshaft is that if it fails it can go through the floor pan, not sure if aluminium is strong enough to do this though! Carbon fibre is ok though because if this fails it splits into threads!- Looking for big HP?
I thought 15PSI wasn't too harsh on stock turbos Stu? I thought it was when you started to dabble past 16PSI was when you start the dreaded Blue Vapour, as demonstrated by some aahhhheem vehicles on Sunday?- Looking for big HP?
Hi Steve, See you found Devlins site, I prefer the TD05 18G's as the only have 100rpm more lag and 50BHP more BHP!!!!! - Manual boxes
