  1. Guys the compressor side of the left bank feeds the right bank and vice versa, the balance bar acts a supplementary balance! The HKS is a good intercooler and keeps it as it should be :)
  2. I'll say it again, reconditioned turbos are only as good as the reconditioners :) The acid test is to ask them if they will pay for the engine out and the refit of the turbos, if they go wrong, you won't find many that will say yes?
  3. I think you should take a picture ofyour car so we can see the problem, but if it is the feed to the FPR this could be giving you problems!
  4. After a garage does work you always have to check your wheel nuts are at the right torque settings 50-100 miles afterwards, something to bear in mind is that if someone attempts to pinch your wheels, they will loosen the wheel nuts and will leave the scene if they are disturbed, leaving you with a potential death trap :(
  5. Mark I can understand you did not have a happy experience with your zed! But please understand there are some of us out there who are making people's experience's with the zed a reliable and happy one, and one that doesn't break the bank :) http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=58843
  6. The best place to start is to pull the engine strip it down and see what has gone haywire, then at least you know, what you have to spend on and not!
  7. Reconditioned turbos are only as good as the reconditioner! The best way if you can afford it are brand new turbos, as they are proven, more modern in design and will save you money in the long run!
  8. The thing is to work out your budget and then try to work from there, also build in some sort of contingency as when you pull the engine there is quite often something that you didn't plan on!
  9. You should warm the engine up before you do a compression test and maybe have your battery well charged up/on charge, so that your drop in battery levels doesn't compromise your compression readings.
  10. Just to let you know your cylinder numbers, for furture reference. Offside Front to back 1,3,5, Nearside 2,4,6,

ernst when was the last time you had it serviced, oil change/plugs/filter etc.
  12. Cheers guys, will have a think, why does my ice fella go on hols for a month when I need him
  13. The boot install would be completely cut off from the front with solid metal, no parcel shelf, and I don't want a big install in the boot to compensate for that. The amps are not a problem I can put them in the boot, and run the wiring back and forth! I was thinking of something similiar to this but without the amp built in!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALPINE-SWD-1600-6-1-2-150W-POWERED-SUBWOOFER-BOX_W0QQitemZ5858383135QQcategoryZ18805QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  14. Getting a new stereo and exploring the options for placing a sub are in the boot or under the front seat/s. Just to let you know, I have a convertible that has a solid bulkhead between the seats and the boot, I will be running component speakers in the doors. The rear does not speakers and it will be fed by 160w genesis amps. Anyone fitted a sub under the seat and know which model/s might fit?
  15. Are you sure the cable has snapped, or is the mechanism just sticking? If it is just sticking then get someone to push down on the bonnet while pulling the bonnet lever and/or use the small tube on the WD40 can to spray some lube on the mechanism!
  16. Cheers Max, anytime mate did not take it the wrong way :)
  17. Please do not judge without all the facts Dave, but you are right I would not recommend using this method if you are not a fully qualified mechanic. If you have any trouble removing the crank pulley/bottom cover just give me a call, I will tell you the way to do it!

I could be wrong here because because I am not an expert on americanisms, but on the zed, long block rebuilds refers to a complete rebuild on the engine including the top end i.e. the heads. Short block refers to just a bottom end rebuild!

Macca take it to the Badger sanctuary, or Vinz leave a saucer of milk out and it might come home :D
  20. So you have an oil filter before the cooler and after?
  21. I know after seeing some of the figures that there are a lot of people out there who just look at the forum but not post! Would be good to meet them and also see the mysterious high power zeds out there, that we seldom hear about on here :)
  22. Don't know if you installed it Karl but why have you got what looks like an oil filter after the oil cooler?
  23. Thanks for the the offers and endorsements fellas :D The design of your zed james is fantastic, has to be one of the most original going :), sorry I missed your msn tonight, I had pressed the turn off button when you had sent it :( Guys pleased don't be insulted if your car isn't featured on the site, I only have so much webspace, my own car won't even be on the front page, I will put it in somewhere though :) If anyone can suggest some other zed related pics that may be appropriate, send em over :)
  24. If you have a nice looking zed and want it featured on our website then please send it to us or post it up here! :)
  25. think this may have been the problem, setting was at three minutes for monitor, but this does not put the computer in stby mode it turned it off and would cause problems in restarting it. Have adjusted it now and it seems to be ok for the time being fingers crosssed!
