As we know, parts are being discontinued at an alarming rate for these cars; many trim and plastic components that were available 6 months ago are now no longer available. Things like the plastic trim that sits on the outside of the door pillar for example are not available at all through Nissan USA however strangely one side is still available from Nissan Japan.

I am buying up brand new OEM parts as quickly as I can when I replace them. I was extremely lucky with my brand new OEM rear spoiler for example and new headlights (granted the headlights were bought from someone who'd bought them new 10 years ago and never fitted them), but things are getting tough now, especially for those wanting a more concourse example.

My point being, I've been trying to get quite a lot of parts for my impending bodywork which starts next Friday and a number of parts were not available from the usual sources such as Z1, Courtesy etc etc. We all know that there's a huge amount of stock in North America, however, North American dealerships, which are generally where the specialists get their parts from, all draw from a huge inventory stored at their headquarters in Tennessee. UK dealerships draw from their European distribution centre in Amsterdam which in turn draws directly from Nissan Japan. A number of recent examples - the front grille for TT cars that is clipped in behind the bumper - these often break and fall to bits - these are not available in North America, however a phone call to a local Nissan dealership showed that they're able to draw this product straight from Japan. I may still not being able to get this as parts only show as obsolete on Nissan UK's system after someone has tried to order it, it isn't automatically updated - I may be that person who tries to order only for the part to be updated as NLS. Lead time is 3 weeks though, so it should get here by the time my car is back at least!

Further to that though, I've had various other bits of trim and clips that can't be sourced through Nissan USA, but Nissan Europe were able to get hold of them. It helps that the cars were available in Japan for another 4 years and stock levels are 4 years in advance of what they might be elsewhere.

If you can't get it though the usual overseas sources, don't give up on using Nissan UK or MJP.

Use this page to give your dealership a helping hand with part numbers. http://nissan4u.com/ - this is for Euro cars which share about 95% of parts from JDM models, but those with FAST should be able to get part numbers for specific JDM parts.

.....and again!

Very insignificant part but I have 2 new button screws for the glass, these are what the top roller screws into. Wanted new ones for cosmetic reasons, they're still available in the US, but the little plastic $2 washer they sit on isn't......but Nissan UK can get them!

Some interesting pricing comparisons now. Due to the horrendous state of our exchange rate, it appears to be more competitive to buy from Nissan UK for a number of things.

Examples on a few parts I am about to order through my local Nissan dealership.

9085345P00 which is the molding on the tailgate (one side) - each side is £34.44 each from local source, $90 each from the US which is around £75 with shipping and tax, this would easily see around £100 a side, which is a saving of 60 a side combined saving of £120.

Lead time is fairly long and delivery is likely to be the 8th of next month, but still.

The next one offers a great saving.

8083032P01 Right hand door seal @ £96.36 through Nissan dealership - this is ranging from between $140 - $200 depending on source which is between £112 and £160, factor in shipping and you'll likely pay about £150 - £200 a side + tax.....makes every sense to check with Nissan UK first. Quite impressed with the savings that can be had.

eeeek! Prices are + VAT, still quite a bit cheaper though!

Hmm, that's annoying. I just bought new door seals from the US. I've also been trying to replace all my plastics.

So far I have not been able to find:

B pillar plastics

Steering column shroud

Si, the next time you are at the dealer, could you see how much a pair of targa seals are for a Swb

I think the part # are

Part #: 76861-51P00

Part #: 76860-51P00

I would really appreciate the help as it's difficult for me to get to a dealer

Sure thing. I'll call them tomorrow as there are a few more bits I need.

True, they rarely have stock of anything Z32 and if your dealership is lazy, they may only want to service your business needs if you have a Micra.

Some more pricing comparisons.

Untitled.jpg

7686032P02 large t-top weatherstrip. Starting to flinch a little, but I want them anyway before they are NLA.

Per-side prices:

http://www.nissangenuine.com = £258.79 incl. VAT + UK shipping, estimate £265

Nissan UK = £282.37 incl. VAT

Courtesy Nissan = $292.76 = £228.79 + import duty + shipping (est £300)

Got a new set of these myself.

On my last build i replaced all the rubbers for new everywhere on the zed, removed them all again when it was a rightoff.

Cost upwards of £1000 to replace everything but well worth it.

Even the fealing of the way the doors closed was different.

Yeah, I think it will be well worth it! With new window rollers, it should feel lovely. I am contemplating getting new check-straps too, although mine aren't worn. I have to stop somewhere! haha!

About £500 from memory for the spoiler. I'm not sure how many are left, if at all. Your best bet is to call your local dealership and give them this part number. J603042P25, there is a superseeded part number of J603042P28.

They're NLS in the US.

I just managed to pick up a new set of targa seals to go with the new door seals as well, should make a nice difference and as you said si, stock won't be around much longer.

I think I've also managed to locate a set od 2 seater b pillar trims and a new steering cowl which I thought were obsolete so thanks for the inspiration to try and pin down some of these parts.

Unfortunately having just spent $180 on a new indicator stalk I think I have hit your level of ocd. It looks great though and should have the nice fresh printing on it.

Not obsolete, but a pricing comparison.

Interior targa trim: A UK mail order Z shop who shall remain nameless offers these at £58 + VAT per side, allcarpartsfast £44.50 + VAT per side, that's not before you factor in shipping. A UK mail order Z shop who shall remain nameless is about £15 or something, allcarpartsfast is about a fiver. est.£154.20 vs £106.80 for the pair delivered giving a potential saving of 45% over A UK mail order Z shop who shall remain nameless which is absolutely crazy IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Use allcarpartsfast.co.uk at every opportunity. JoelyP, AndrewG and myself have been using them and they've been pretty good.

Also, don't buy these from the US as generally, they'll send you out ones with key holes in them as US spec Z32 targa models had lockable targa panels.
