The rebuild has finally started today and so far in a few hours I've managed to completely strip the interior.

 

 

 

Next job on my list is to get both the bumpers, tailgate and bonnet off.

 

After that i'll work on the body panels and stripping down the engine.

Happy days, can’t wait to see this bloody Z, long time coming! 😎

Nice wee road trip down to Jimmer's and back to collect my Engine.

Wasn't all bad as stopped off at Alton Towers with the kids for a day to break it up.

Just need to get this put on a stand and get the turbos needed for it cleaned up.

Not had an update for a while so where shall i start ?

My engine is back and so far its stuck on a stand minus its turbos as the last ones had some issues.

So my view is to get a set of GT525+ curtesy of Z1

Long time coming,

But i thought i'd update everyone that my sleeper zed will be getting its new tonsils in the next few weeks.

Time to crack on and get the two breakers i have gone and swap over the Breakers AC back to the Purple zed.

And i mean sleeper only on the realisation that its not moved for nearly a year and is covered in duvets to keep it warm.

I think this Beauty has slept long enough.

Started some work on the zeds today, first time in years.

First i removed all the AC parts from the spare breaker i have.

Also managed to pull out the steering rack hoses and my zeds were damaged and i had them bypassed with rubber pipes and a small radiator.

Lots of cleaning to do in order to get it up to the spec i want for the purple zed.

Now i have to strip out the old oil cooler and hoses from the purple zed.

Coolers now out

Had to remove these as they were sitting on a custom bracket and the AC wont fit back in without going back to the old way.

Fitted the donor Power Steering pipe work today, after i gave it a good scrub to clean it :

Moving on to the air conditioning.

This felt like it took me an age to get the pipe work back in, never seen such a complicated setup of pipes.

think i've managed to get them all in place however i've discovered that the aircon evaporator is bent and i cant get it to bolt back in on one side.

I'm now looking out for options to retrofit a newer aircon system.

Time to clean the AC parts as i found a birds nest in it.

Working on the AC again today as my turbos still haven't arrived from Z1.

Looks like i need a new AC evaporator and dryer as the donor is bent out of shape too.

Pipe work isn't in the best of shape either, shame everything is end of life and no longer available.

So as i wait for the turbos to arrive i need to order up a new condenser and dryer.

In regards to the engine; its just sitting waiting to be put back in but we are held back because of the turbos.

I have 3 engines sitting, 2 forged and 1 stock.

I'm also considering replacing the stock cams for a set of JWT's as i have a set in the other engine i own.

For the moment it will just have to sit an wait.

Looks like Z1 have screwed me over on a set of Turbos.

Ordered them 2 months ago and and i've been chasing them each week and they respond simply as we do not have an ETA.

Finally got them to tell me that parts on on back order and no longer available so after a small refund the rest was dispatched via UPS last week.

1 Week on and UPS demanded the import fees upfront which i paid only to discover that Z1 never completed the Export license information to UPS.

Now my new turbos have been returned to Z1 which i have tracking for and Z1 are ignoring all communications with me and i'm down the import fee too

as if its shipped out again guarantee it will be a new tracking number and they will demand a new payment.

I'm really at my tether with this zed and nearly had enough, everything i do to get it on the road goes wrong.

Do UPS still have the funds or have they passed it onto HMRC?

No idea,

UPS dont make it easy to contact them either, the website has is a very bad AI support tool.

Its been 10 days nearly since last contact from Z1

That is very poor service, import tax is a killer to. Hope you get something sorted.

Apparently they are going to dispatch it again on Monday; however they couldnt advise on whats to happen about the import taxes already paid.

As long as you have the proof, you should be able to get a refund from UPS - as the goods were never delivered to the UK.
